If they did give some super special gift then it should be for people who have been around for the ten years. Show some solidarity with the people who have shown solidarity.

It's just so sad to see what the 10th anniversary is. They've had pretty great celebrations in the past. People have pointed out that year 5 was quite good, and it was. Undaunted events used to be very exciting with the chance to find cosmetics, mounts, and even houses in the boxes.

Surely they could have done something more special.
    • 5 style pages shoved into 3 activities (with 3 of them being limited to 2 zones) means for a lot of congestion and irritation. It's the exact opposite of what the anniversary event has been about in the past.
    • Quite a few of said style pages are acquired doing things that are exclusionary in loot drops. In Summerset/dolmens, you may get the style page since it comes from the shell/chest, but you are likely to miss out on anniversary boxes. Meanwhile, in Vvardenfell, the boxes and pages come from the boss, so if there are too many people you're SOL. So pick: style pages, or anniversary boxes. Oh, and style pages are bound so it's not like you can buy them later.
    • Aside from the Staff of Worms, none of the other style pages are relevant to the main story. And feel kind of...random. Either have unique, fun styles across all the chapters with more reasonable drop rates or spread out where you can get the few there are.
    • Add in that we have a unique mount that requires fragments that, even if guaranteed one per day, you can't get enough fragments in the event organically and will HAVE to purchase some fragments with tickets.
    • Additionally, more tickets have to be spent to get new achievements where spending tickets is THE only way to get the achievement. THIS would have been a really fun way to do this event by hiding cake slices throughout Tamriel; maybe find and talk with different people we've helped throughout the journey. But no, ZoS just stuck it behind event tickets and said "good enough" and maybe not so subtly hoped people would have to shell out crowns for extra tickets.
    • During previous anniversary events, the crown store exploded with TONS of returning items, lots of them on sale. This month is pretty much like any other month in terms of new and returning items.
Overall it just feels so lackluster and nothing like what I would have expected for TEN years. Where's the heart?

I'm quite happy with the rewards I've received so far. I really like the horse (although I do agree with the sentiment that we should not have to purchase fragments with tickets) and I'm enjoying the surplus of motifs, high end crafting mats, and furnishing plans I'm getting. I appreciate that they've added the boxes to additional activities, making them even easier to get than ever before.

I especially love that they added more boxes to more forms of PVP rewards. I do both PVP and PVE, and this means I don't have to sacrifice time in PVP to get boxes. I can do whatever I feel like that day to get the anniversary boxes, which is how it should be, honestly. We always had them from the dalies, but its great to get them from rewards for the worthy too.

I DO however agree with the sentiment that player engagement, rather than paying via tickets, should have been the method of delivery for more rewards. Especially the cake slices. I really like this idea by @heaven13

I couldn't agree more. The cake slices are a really special addition to the game- a lot of us have been wanting them for a long time. It would have been better if they had been given away by characters we know and love, and the achievements earned through gameplay. Then, after the initial cake slices are earned for free, it could unlock the ability to purchase additional ones for tickets.

I'm definitely NOT a fan of these achievements being linked to using tickets. It feels...strangely P2W even though we technically do have to play to earn the tickets in order to get the achievements.

I'm not even a player who struggles to get tickets for any of the rewards, but I still don't like seeing achievements for tickets at all, on principal.

They could have made a quest line that would have been something to remember, and they didn't. I'm happy with my rewards, but I'm also sad about the delivery mechanism :/

What I dislike most about this ten year event is ZOS flying people around the world who have publicly quit the game via YouTube and other platforms, while those of us who have been here since launch get an anniversary grind. No "Thanks for being a loyal customer", nothing. We get a cake and a very rare chance of getting things. This event doesn't seem special nor does it feel like a celebration of the success we as players helped create.

According to the anniversary news article they're spreading it out over 15 months, to cover both the original launch of the game and the console launch in 2015, so it's likely there will be more stuff coming later.

I don't know what of course, but if ZOS want it to be an on-going celebration it makes sense that they don't dump everything into the game at once, otherwise players would grind it out, get bored and burned out and forget the anniversary event was going on before it's even 1/2 way in.

The 5th year anniversary was much better. The rewards weren't such a massive grind as it is now.

The grind is the true gift they have given us. A reason to replay same content for the entire event. Are we gonna get any rewards? Perhaps? Most likely not.

Really? Never heard of loyalty schemes?

They gave us a monkey as a thank you for partaking in beta. They gave us the senche as a thank you for subscribing for the first year, when the game went free-to-play. Why would it be "mean" to give something as a thank you to those who have subscribed for the first ten years?

Wouldn't players get burned out after 15 months of celebration anyway? Especially if the "celebration" means "more grind"?
(And then get used to that state of things and feel that there's not enough rewards when the celebration suddenly ends, btw?)

There are other events through the year, so the usual annual "community event" which has typically given away major stuff like houses, could be used to reward players even further this year.

So far we've had a quite a lot - daily rewards since January have been awesome, Endeavours have been better rewarded, and the anniversary event is longer and with better rewards.

    Can't complain, really.

What do you think about it ?

    Thanks a lot!

    Jiub

    I agree with you.
At least ZOS could have put DLCs on discount to purchase, but no, have to wait until October-November for that.

When my World of Tanks account hit 10-12-13-14 years, WG gave me equivalent days premium (added to the account), stuff & discounts to get premium tanks etc.

That is why I don't care about the event. I will get my tickets to buy older boxes, will do the bare minimum (just crafting with my main) and what ever drops from the normal play. I am not going to grind my way on this event.

FYI the 5 years celebration was much better.

At least they could have given a title like "Founder" to those of us who are here from the pre-release week. Not that I use or care about titles etc but just something unique. Give us 1 extra character slot, could be a good reward.

Only if we buy the new expansion though. Something many of us who've been here since the start are getting less and less likely to do because we've seen how the content has decreased in quality and quantity so significantly lately. Everything "new" in the last few years is just reskinned versions of things we already had. Just look at the infinite archive. Nothing new there, just reformatted stuff from other parts of the game thrown in one pot to stew.

    Maybe, maybe not who knows.
But the skin that requires all stories to be done does require all dlc stories as well, I assume gold road is apart of those stories in order to get the skin.
I really hope they will seperate 10 year anniversary from the chapter, and have a chapter event like every chapter spertly so people who don't get the gold road can still enjoy the event but it's too early to tell maybe during the pts that comes next week we will know more.

This anniversary event has been leaving me feeling quite turned off compared to previous anniversaries; the 5-year one, for example, did a much better job of bringing the community joy. Like many others here, my "off" feeling is not because of the rewards that are offered, but by the incredibly disconnected way in which they're offered, as if the ZOS staff who came up with it have absolutely no clue after all these years what people play ESO for. The tenth anniversary is a time that should be spent enjoying yourself around Tamriel or palling around with the community in-game, not mindlessly grinding world events or possibly spending real-world money to buy pieces of game horses. I was at least expecting to see people partying it up and being silly while waiting for WB's to spawn in Vvardenfell, but instead it's occasionally one or two people juggling and banging fungal drums while everyone else idles or grumbles about the style page drop rate in chat. So many players in general are just being put off by the event's execution. The Impresario says it's a birthday celebration...but not much of anyone really seems to be celebrating anything, except to yell in zone chat "FINALLY DONE WITH THIS CRAP!!! GONNA GO PLAY SOMETHING ELSE" when they get a style page. :/

In a weird coincidence, while the server was down this morning, I was archiving one of my old social media accounts so I could delete it. I stumbled across this post from another user's now-deleted account, posted a little over a year ago during the 2023 Jester's Festival (in reference to its "abysmal" Scrap of Minstrel's Cloth drop rates; bolding is mine):

Yes, classic ZOS move. This event has been a real eye opener for me, between the poly bundle and the lousy chance for scraps they give us… I don’t like the way these events are headed, this time next year we’ll have to straight up purchase our “rewards” 😒👎🏻

Seeing as you have to spend tickets (and, for some, real money for crowns to buy tickets) to even get the Jubilee horse because it's literally impossible to earn all the confetti needed from in-game reward boxes...they weren't that far off from the truth. :/

Later edit to say: LOLOLOL the post I quoted just above was edited and deemed "bashing" by the mods because the poster used $ instead of S in "ZOS." Really? People spewing actual TOS-violating bigoted hate is fine, but someone referencing ZOS's nickel-and-diming tendencies is a bridge too far? ZOS, y'all need to grow up, seriously.

Speaking as someone with the beta monkey, no. We're not "elites", just early adopters.

No need to be an a*se, geez. As far as I'm concerned, everyone can have nice things.

Also, while I understand (and _really_ REALLY agree with) the frustration regarding the style drop grinding (to the point where I'm just not engaging with it at all) and having to buy the extra horse mount pieces is actually a bit of a *** move by ZOS (I mean, ZOS, c'mon, that's just dirty play), those of us from beta days remember when daily freebies just for logging in didn't exist. It seems, from my experience across different MMORPGs that the more freebies given to MMO players (and not just in this game), the more people complain about the free stuff they get. I raised toddlers more gracious than this. Really. Attacking the daily rewards is just silly, especially considering the last few months--and this one--have been pretty good.

[Edited to clarify that my toddler comment is addressed to the individuals who are upset about their free login dailies, not all upset with other aspects of the celebration which are valid complaints].
