Since they announced the system, we only know about two skills really. The bow skill, which is underwhelming due to the nature of a utility escape skill, and the Soul skill line's skill, which had some lines telling us about it, showing that it's a pretty generic ranged damage skill (which could be useful!).

What are some skills you'd like to see added to the system, of the ones we don't know about yet? We still don't know about all the other weapon skill lines, or about the guilds. And maybe some future skills you'd like to see added to other guild, world, and even class skill lines?

As a magsorc that's running only two non class abilities, I feel like scribing is going to be useless for me.... and considering we don't know fully how it works and it's limitations yet, I'm just going to dream and say I want an ult version of magelight since it's impossible for me to fit it onto my bar as a normal skill.

Judging by the customizability, it might be possible to make ult skills, as well as passive bonus skills or skills with long durations. I didn't actually think about the possibility of Scribing letting us make ult abilities, actually. It'll be really interesting if we can, and judging by their whole customization touting, I'd be surprised if it's not an option.

I want at least one Grimoire for the Werewolf skill line. Maybe it could be a channeled attack, using that animation where the werewolf swipes with claws four times and bites twice at the end. There's also another animation for NPC werewolves where they sort of jump at the player and knock them back, which could be a good basis for a Werewolf Grimoire skill. Or, how about an instant cast, proper biting skill like Werewolf Behemoth has?

I'd want to be able to change the damage type between physical, bleed, or disease, and it'd be cool if we could also make the skill taunt, giving Werewolf some in-kit taunt. Maybe somewhere in there we can get an ally heal, so Werewolf could finally have an in-kit source of group healing. I'd also like the option for some kind of snare removal/negative effect purge, access to Minor Resolve, and maybe there could be an option to have the Grimoire proc the Blood Rage passive without requiring a target?

I heard from a user on the forums that apparently zos was wanting to introduce the crux system into more classes? If that's true, I think a mages guild ability that, while slotted, using class skills builds up crux could be fun. Maybe have an assignable named buff that activates for a few seconds once max crux is reached or used or something (I don't like having major prophecy take up a skill slot without a damage ability, or having to use potions constantly. That's the main thing I want to replace on my bar rn lol)
The ability effect itself would obviously be changeable since it's scribed. For me personally, I'd want it to make a ranged single target that with the use of crux also deals AOE damage. Something that can be used as a spammable if desired, but when charged up it gains a cast time and can deal aoe burst damage. I dunno if all of that matches with zos vision though.

To stray even further from zos' vision, I always see mages guild members in Eyeveya floating around. I want that...somehow haha. If the having max crux visual gave you like a fire atronach animation I'd feel pretty cool in combat, especially if casting the ability put you back on the ground. Would feel like a satisfying passage of power. Might feel a little silly seeing others doing it though, I dunno. I just miss my levitation from the older games...

With how customizable the system is supposed to be, I'd wager if Zos was already wanting to do that, they might make "generates crux" and "consumes crux for extra damage or effect" as an option when making skills with scribing. I don't think it's super likely, but I mean... It's possible and would be a neat precedent. Of course without the proper implementation it would be an effect that only benefits Arcanist. But they could have other options that benefit specific classes, like generating corpses for necro.

As long as there is a wide range of skills and useful buffs/debuffs/effects we can attach to them I think Scribing will be alright, but I'm still waiting for the PTS to see what exactly is coming. I REALLY hope it allows us to fill in some gaps in certain builds, because we really need some alternatives for build diversity. One thing I really dislike currently is how nearly mandatory certain non-class skills are for their passives like Camo Hunter; and unless you spend a lot on potions there's really not many alternatives to FG's overloaded passives.

I also hope to see them expand Scribing to class skill lines in the future.

From the preview we've seen of Vault, a Bow Grimoire, we know that the Secondary Effect of any Grimoire skill can play into some passive of the respective skill line. For instance, Vault can interact with the Hawk Eye passive of the Bow skill line:
    ieb4pjt8a6os.png

Once we get Grimoires for Class skill lines, I'd imagine we'd get Secondary Effects to do things like generate Crux or proc other Class passives. It's hard to imagine a Grimoire skill being able to affect some unrelated skill line.

I hope Scribing allows us to customize pet skins in the future too. The og green-colored clannfears from Vvaardenfell would be an awesome option for Sorcerors, or other options for Warden's Bear like a senche or kagouti would.

Scribing isn’t going to be for reskinning existing skills, it’s for making entirely new ones.

I hope Scribing allows us a grimoire to make a customizable pet, I feel like that would be a great addition to the game.

1.) Every Spammable has to generate Crux. Otherwise the whole scribingsystem would be useless for Arcanists.

Other than that, no wishes at the moment. Have to wait and see.

If they added a Grimoire for Vampires and Werewolves..
    • Shred it would be an untargeted gap closer for Werewolves kind of like streak, maybe the effect is greater based on how much health the target has remaining.
    • Bats Would call fourth a swarm of Vampire Bats that applies a DOT to the target, what it does is up to the player, this skill would be different from other Grimoires in that it's cost would be effected by your Vampire stage like all Vampire skills.

Neat ideas! Here's hoping the Werewolf and Vampire skill lines get their own Grimoires soon. It probably won't happen this year, but next year is a very real possibility.

I like your idea for the Werewolf Grimoire in particular. It'd be cool to be able to use it as a mobility skill, since Pounce has that annoying mechanic where it turns into Carnage (preventing werewolves from repeatedly gap closing onto targets who are faster than them). I'd take movement like what was shown with Vault — even better if the Grimoire could also be allowed to taunt enemies or heal allies.

If you look at what was described, scribing on launch will be 1 active skill for each weapon, world and guild skill line that have active abilities currently - excluding things like dark brotherhood, thieves guild, vampire, and werewolf (as far as we know). There is zero mention of customizing passive skills or creating new ultimate abilities.

There may have been no mention of those ideas this year, but the framework is in place. ZOS has expressed potentially expanding this feature in the future, so if Scribing allows ZOS to introduce new Active Skills to existing skill lines, then there's nothing stopping them from introducing Grimoire Ultimates or Grimoires for skill lines which aren't covered in 2024. Also, we could potentially get multiple Grimoires per skill line, so we might end up getting 2 or more unique Grimoire skills for the Bow skill line, for example.

The important part is the framework of the system — what follows in future years could be anything.

Skill Styling is what will allow us to customize our skill appearances. It's not part of the Scribing feature — it's more like Customized Actions (like those harvesting and porting animations) but for Active Skills.

Scribing is about customizing the combat effects of Grimoire skills, which are new skills added to existing skill lines. We may eventually get Grimoires for Class skill lines, but I'd personally expect Skill Styles for Class skills before then.

Of course, we could get a Skill Style for a Grimoire skill to let us customize the visual effects and combat effects of that skill. Surprisingly, we know more about the Grimoires than we do about the Skill Styles which will be included in the Gold Road Chapter, but I'd be surprised if we didn't get a Skill Style for one of the new Grimoire skills, even if it's just to show new players how both systems work.

I'd like to see real crossbows as a skill style for bows. Since we're never going to get a new weapon, and the game CAN support new animations, I think this is the most I can expect.
