This is why I don’t accept the argument that the citizens of Tamriel are okay with sorcerers summoning Daedric pets.

No normal citizen would have ever encountered them in any way other than what OP described. They would run away in fear every time they saw one.

There's ones doing small tasks for Mage's Guild members. IMO, those are the ones that most regular people would see as hostile Daedra in town are not common.

Yeah those are the banekin. They aren’t player combat pets, though.

What is weird is if they pin me down when I am facing them my character is lying face up. But if they pin me down when I am running and facing away from them my character is lying face down.

I hate how they knock me over then pin me down doing unthinkable things without my consent until I am finally able to break free. Then if I don't run away or kill them fast enough they do it again.

Why is that weird? It makes perfect sense.

If you are facing them, you get knocked on your bottom and still face them.
If you are running, you get knocked on your face and do not face them.

I found that roll dodging works better than blocking.

I also changed the enemy AOE colour from a rather darkish red to a very bright pink. That helps so much.

What I find most upsetting is that all the Clanfear you encounter can leap and stun you but the clanfear my sorc gets as a pet can only shake its tail from side to side in a slow motion twerk!

Yeah the move is called Devour. It was clearly to be used around the stomach area but your character awkward readjust and the clannfear does it wherever if there're in range. So sometimes they eat my foot.

Not so much law but perception. I guess there are some banekin that attack you in places like that farm near Old Tower wayshrine in Bangkorai, but it seems much more prevalent to be attacked by clannfear and twilights when adventuring.

The worst part here is not being able to loot them when you kill them. They are out of reach. :s You have to go kill something else around the area and come back to loot them. I wish they would fix this.

I've never had that happen with these. I've seen it rarely with other mobs but not these in particular.

    That attack can be blocked.

No doubt, but the time between the aoe showing up and the clannfear jumping is pretty short. Its more of a nuisance than a danger, kind of like the nix hounds and kotu gave

I play with an average 300 ping and I can still manage to dodge roll the Clannfear leap every time. Yes, it's annoying, but it's not unavoidable.

Best way to deal with clannfears? There are 3 that I can think of:
    1. You block the leap and they get stunned for like 4 seconds. You don't kill them immediately though. Let them think about what they've done first. Then when they've had a good think and the stun wears off, do a medium attack. That knocks them on their asses. Only after you've demonstrated your dominance in this way are you allowed to kill them.
    2. If you're a templar slot in Piercing Javelin. It doesn't need to be morphed. When you see the clannfear charge the leap, count 1 second and throw a javelin. This will knock it back in mid air.
    3. If you're a sorc slot in Suppression Field. Block the attack just like point 1. so it gets stunned for 4 seconds. Then when it wears off drop a negate field to stun them for another 12 seconds. This will give you as an educated sorcerer plenty of time to explain to them the error of their ways in minute detail. They might die of boredom though.

The clanfear is not sexually assaulting you, its trying to kill you.

That's what they tell you in Mage class. But buy Sir Cadwell a few drinks and he'll tell you the real story.
