Like most, I really didn’t care for pvp when I started playing this game. Hated it even.

Until I had to go there for skyshards because I wanted the achievement for it so I waited until a Midyear Mayhem event. I discovered it could be fun running around in ball groups taking over keeps.

My advice to anyone who wants the weekly done.
    - Go to Cyrodiil.
    - Type LFG in chat.
    - Get picked up and slot a range weapon. (Your build and defense’s are irrelevant as you’ll probably be in a group of about 20 other people or more.
    - Follow the group and attack at range. So long as you get a hit or 2 in, you’ll get credit for the kill.
    - 15-20 minutes of this (or less if it’s a big battle) and you are done.
It’s so easy my 9 year old son who mainly plays crafting/puzzle/SpongBob games did it by just using Snipe from the top of a keep on an account I created for him.

Nice on PC. Much harder on console. Try "typing" there on there with a keypad. Some are very good, but that is a hard thing to do quickly for many as well.

But communication is a LOT lower on console for that very reason. Yes, you might be able to send a note, but that doesn't mean much on console.

I didn't say it was impossible. I noted it was difficult. How many console players have a keyboard while playing? I see very little chat on console compared to PC, indicating it is much rarer and thus more difficult.

That doesn't mean it is a bad idea just that it is less of a turn-key solution.

I play on PS since console launch. Never had an issue typing in LFG or any other quick message. It's only extended conversations that are an issue. Usually no keyboard being used either.

If there is some other medical issue at play that makes console difficult to use, I can definitely understand that. It's the reason I can't weave for too long without paying for it later. But, it's not an inherent limit of console. Console has a text chat and there's a couple of ways to accept it.

I was wondering why the discussion revolved around typing on the console since they have the voice chat. Communication in a pug group on the console is super easy.

Ofc, using the LFG system probably requires typing but that does not necessitate any speed and would be a minor inconvenience.

The number of negative endeavors forum posts we've seen here the last couple of days are just disproportionate to the actual "faux pas" committed by ZOS, if you want to call it that. I personally have no problem with ensuring there's a solo PVE/group PVE/PVP option available for seals each week. I'm just baffled by the overwhelmingly negative response from casual solo PVE players this week the ONE time ZOS hasn't given them an endeavor activity to do that they like...

But why care? I saw people complaining about all kinds of things here over the years, some reasonable, some completely silly from my point of view. I just let them complain, especially if it's something that doesn't affect me at all, like wanting more options for something.

People have just gotten so rude, unreasonable, and prone to spreading misinformation online in recent years. It has become so difficult to have a reasonable, rational conversation. :/

Sadly, this is also true in real life, I see it in my work every day. 😔

I was around the Internet and the newsgroups pre-cursor (of sorts) several decades back. Nothing new under the sun! The same things could be seen there. I also argued a lot more when I was younger, but I try to do less of it now (really, I do!) because it is largely useless. Not that I always stop myself, but hopefully you get the idea.

I had never done Aetherian Archive before this week. I joined a pug in the group finder. From start to finish the entire thing took 26 minutes, and that is because the same person died twice falling off cliffs and we had to wait for them to run back. No explanation of any boss mechanic at all. The longest amount of time was trying to herd cats to stand on the 12 shiny spaces multiple times.

Herding cats is one of my favorite activities…real cats anyway, I don’t know about herding humans 😹

But if someone is denying all players, which don't see an issue with this week's selection (because they are doing those activities anyways for example), to be "normal players" (to cite OP), then this person is basically asking for opposition.
I would be shocked, if people wouldn't react accordingly tbh.

You might have noticed that I also shortly adressed that in my first comment here. I find it strange though to make the whole discussion about this now (then again I don't care about what other people think of me and don't know how "not normal" would be insulting - something above average is "not normal" too, after all - , so I personally just shrug and ignore comments like that), and completely lose focus from the actual topic: that more different options for the weekly endeavor could be made available to offer something for each playstyle.

    Yeah, I noticed.

I don't find it strange at all tho, that those players, which constantly agitate against almost every content outside overland questing across this forums (mostly without even really knowing the content they despise) are opposed by increasing parts of the community. People are just fed up by this behaviour after 10 years of constant ranting and rightfully express their feelings.

You aren't wrong by ignoring inappropiate statements like the one in OP. But if every player had your patience regarding bothering circumstances, we wouldn't have to read such utter nonsense in the first place, wouldn't we?

Of course I can just speak for myself, but I fully support the implementation of more varied choices to endeavors, as I think incentivizing players into specific content can easily be done by simply "highlighting" said content by doubling the amount of SoE gained for the respective endeavor. This way both intentions would still be present.

For example this week could look like:

    - PvP-related endeavor - 500 SoE
    - 3 to 5 endeavors related to various other content - 250 SoE each

But something like that is not what OP is asking for, both threads regarding this topic clearly state they want an option for "casual/normal" players as the options presented aren't in their opinion. They don't care about balance but only themselves.
No option for normal players. Please always have SOMETHING that most of us can do, not unachievable goals!
Nothing for the casual gamer this week then.

Most players (at least here on forums), including me, think OPs claims and interpretations are wrong and simply state their opinion. Nothing wrong with that.

Never get between a cat and it's candy!

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

Generalize and judge based on that much?

I guess all players aren't allowed to have a voice.

    This week:

    - Kill 15 Players in Cyrodiil
    - Defeat 7 Patrolling Horrors
    - Complete 7 Trials

No option for normal players. Please always have SOMETHING that most of us can do, not unachievable goals!

I have never run a Trial in ESO. Finding a group going after Patrolling Horrors is difficult and they are hard for many to solo. And that ignores the threat of being ganked.

I am fodder in Cyrodiil, not a player killer.

Yeah, I know some of you can solo all of these playing with your feet and your eyes closed, but many and likely most of us cannot!

Endeavors already don't make much, don't put an unneeded wall around them!

Answer is yes. I've been tracking them since day one (fun fact: it's been 983 days since they started).

The endeavors list is fairly consistent but new stuff is added periodically. Endeavors during the Crafter's Celebration suggest that the Endeavors lists are sometimes curated manually to align with an event.

Does anyone review the weekly endeavors?

To be honest, no, I never have. Couldn't even tell you where to look to find out. But I'm usually notified that I've completed the weekly endeavor at some point. Can't remember a week that I didn't get credit for normal game play.

That said, I usually get the notification in Cyrodiil, as I play there every day.

I meant does someone in ZOS review them. I would expect much better balance if so. Such as a PvP even each day and week, a higher end one each time and no days with few "trivial" ones and none like this week's ones.

I have seen it swing around.

I do realize many players ignore them. They are much harder to track on console, though I just added an addon for them on PC.

I bit the bullet and pugged 4 trials. Normal AA is very pug-firendly, CR does require at least a few people knowing what to do, but otherwise is fine. So all in all the weekly 4-trial or daily 1-trial endeavor stopped intimidating me.

However, it's the second time this week when 3 of the 5 daily endeavors require going into PvP areas. That's just rude!

Awesome! See, folks? That’s what we’ve been trying to say. Normal trials, especially in Craglorn, are easy enough for anyone to do. It’s almost like… older normal trials are easy, casual, PVE-friendly non-endgame content! :)

I mean, there is a PVP event ongoing… expect more PVP-related endeavors in the coming days.

2 out of 5, absolutely, 3 out of 5 is forcing PvP, which is a terrible idea in an Elder Scrolls game.

Why is it a terrible idea in a 10 year old Elder Scrolls game that has had PVP since launch and currently has an active PVP event? No one is forcing you to do PVP. You are free to do the non-PVP endeavors and skip the last daily if you like. I often skip any daily endeavors that take a while to complete and can’t be naturally completed during tasks I do every day in game. I find the Infinite Archive incredibly boring, for instance. If there was some IA event ongoing, with IA-themed endeavors, I simply wouldn’t do them (or I’d just suck it up and do them if there was something in the clown crates that I had my eye on).

It was a bit tough but I managed to kill 7 patrolling horrors. Getting 7 Trials done was out of the question and quite silly to expect most of the PVE or PVP player base to accomplish in a week.

The Daily Endeavors are tougher to get during the event as well since they are mostly PVP related. I managed to get them done every day but it takes a lot more time to accomplish than the previous non PVP Endeavors.

Good luck everyone and try to have fun and enjoy the event! Get your Telvar and AP so you can purchase PVP related gear.

    It’s four trials, not seven.

Oh yeah, I skipped the third both times. It's just bad design to have to miss out on a daily endeavor because I don't like 3 of the 5 choices for the exact same reason.

I am curious about the backlash for the next set of weeklies... one of them will probably be the usual "gain 8 event tickets", which in this case makes it a "pvp" endeavor, and a second pvp endeavor, probably related to IC.
Oh well, wait and see, I guess.

To be fair, this is a game that appeals to a wide variety of players. It’s impossible to please everyone at all times. Endeavors are simply a way of granting players the ability to acquire Crown Crate items without spending real money. You don’t have to do them. There are often endeavors I don’t like — I don’t come to the forums to complain about them, I just either ignore them or suck it up and do them. It’s not a big deal, one way or another.

Sometimes in life we have to do things we don’t like in order to get a shiny reward, and this is one of those times for you. It’s a video game, sure, but video games (especially MMOs) often feature a diverse mix of content that doesn’t always appeal to every single player.

I'm still very low level so I didn't even try to "Kill 15 Players in Cyrodiil", I know I couldn't even kill one. So, I went directly to the "Complete 7 Trials" objective thinking that it should be pretty easy. I was very wrong. I spent 3 full days in trial group queues using group finder and not one single group got complete. Not even one trial run started. Then I decided to try to "Defeat 7 Patrolling Horrors". I spent the next days always on the Imperial City running around looking for the Patrolling Horrors. In 4 days, lots of hours per day, I only found 2 Patrolling Horrors. Seems that they're extremely rare to appear.

Well... It was a total waste of time, I didn't enjoy one minute I spent this week playing this game because of my bad decisions on what to do. I really don't blame the game. There's a lot to do and I ruined the fun by being greedy and trying something out of my reach. It was the first week I didn't enjoy playing this game but served me as a lesson to stop trying to complete endeavors. The good thing of this game is to play as you like, and the endeavors instigates us very often to play as we don't like. So, I'll try to never again fall for it. Lesson learned.

For this endeavor, you do not need to kill anything or anyone. You simply need to damage a player enough to get credit. You can let the rest of Cyrodiil kill them for you.

Tossing out an AoE (e.g. Wall of Elements from on top of a grate at a siege - it will land on the floor if you do it right, tagging every enemy walking into the inner keep) or using oils or other siege is a great way to get these in a short time.

All you need to do is buy a couple of fire ballista or trebuchet and set them up on a wall and shoot players from a safe range. Easiest way to get started in PvP. You could have gotten a defense tick for 141,000 AP like we did yesterday. Plus a guaranteed 50 transmutes for over 20,000 AP at the end of the campaign in a few days.
