Now I see Arcanist is #1 but I feel like it should be not included. It's the latest dlc class, it's gonna be powerful and more streamlined than other classes because they are 10 years old so it skews the results. I see alot of people saying Arcanist is the easiest class to play and that's why they like it, which is is fine honestly. However we do not need the other classes to be easier to play. This game is way too easy and none of thr classes are super complicated plus some people enjoying more complex rotations so please don't advocate for dumbing down other classes. I don't wanna force you to play like me, don't force me to play like you.
Its less about easy to play, and more about easy to understand.
ESO classes and combat is massively too complex for the average player to pick up. Things that seem like they should make sense often do not, and things that seem like they make no sense often end up being meta builds. But its the average player who pays the bills, not the hardcore. Catering to the average player is the smartest business decision.
Regarding future classes, all of them should be easy to undertand, and frankly change the old classes and make the easier to understand.
The "Skill" ceiling in ESO should be lowered and the floor raised. There is too much dissparity right now between new players and veteran players. In the PVP setting, this means new players getting oblitered non stop, which drives them away from the game. In the PVE setting its players not being able to get into trials from peer pressure.
At the end of the day though, no one is forcing you to play their way but not suggesting that more classes be accessible to the player base at large, is.
You say no one is forcing me to play different but you just said you want older classes changed and new classes to be like arcanist. And I stand by my statement for the simple fact that if ESO DID make 5 more classes and they all worked well, easy to understand like the arcanist, well then you can choose one of the 50% of hard classes or you can choose one of the 50% of "easy" classes.
That seems like the most fair way to ensure everyone gets to play their way, does it not?It took me 3 seconds to find this.Jarl_Ironheart wrote: »Also I seriously have never seen anyone ever say that ESO is a confusing and complicated game in regards to classes and combat.

Combat/classes/builds are internangable. And building a class, rotation, gear in ESO is extremely confusing and always has been. This is in part why there are so man, so so so many people making build videos and tutorials. My wife has played since beta, even has the beta monkey. She is as "veteran" as it gets. She loves the arcanist and how it plays, she has always had a hard time building her character in game, in fact she just had her FIRST trial the other night EVER because she was always intimidated with builds, rotations and being "yelled at" when she tried vet dungeons for not holding her own.Jarl_Ironheart wrote: »This game has some of rhe most brain dead combat I've ever played. I personally take issue with the advocating for more stuff for casual players and not the vets like myself that have been here for a long time, we have supported this game through and through and played it through all its fault. I personally can't stand making games for casuals, it's okay to have complicated games. Not everything always has to be easy to pick up.
I got her set up with a heavy attack sorc build and she holds her own.
You might not have issues with builds, rotations or whatever for this game, that is great for you. But not everyone has had the same experience you have with this game and if you research and look deeper into it, you will soon find a LOT of people do not understand what makes a class "tick" in ESO.Jarl_Ironheart wrote: »PS. I'm not gonna say "git gud" or anything but put in some effort to making yourself a better player instead of asking for a easier game.
But it's not that easy and there is a metric ton of evidence suggesting this. People have a legitmate time understanding what makes classes do well in ESO. EVEN under study. Other games do not have this issue and they have a 25x higher population or even greater.
I personally have no issues with it being easier to understand and pick up because I know that I will still perform better than someone who has my exact same build. I have done this over and over in a plehtora of mmorpgs over 20 years. There is more to being good and doing well than just a class build.
If players overall need ESO to be "easier" or easier to undersand, then I am all for it. The more players, the more money, the more money the greater the reason to keep the game around for another 10 years.
In the end, casuals pay the bills. Vets do not. Money talks.
Again, the evidence is in the amount of content consumpion by people who need help. There are quite a few people who make a living making videos and detailed writups on how to build your class in ESO.Jarl_Ironheart wrote: »Pixiepumpkin wrote: »You ended your first post with this lineJarl_Ironheart wrote: »Pixiepumpkin wrote: »Jarl_Ironheart wrote: »I'm a dragonknight through and through. I'm gonna try to keep this brief because you're not changing my mine and I'm not changing yours.

It took me 3 seconds to find. You said you had never heard of anyone complain about ESO difficulty, builds, or whatever you were discussing. I just wanted to show you that in fact there are people who need help/find the game confusing. There are a TON more from where that came from. Reddit alone you can find massive amounts of questions being asked about class builds/rotations.Jarl_Ironheart wrote: »Also linking a thread that is 4 years old with 15 comments about someone asking for help doesn't prove anything.
I agree, I do not think we are. Please do some research and you will soon find that the game is not as easy to understand for many folks as you believe it is.Jarl_Ironheart wrote: »But anyway I'm done with replying to your comments. We aren't gonna get anywhere and keep going back and forth until it gets derailed. So have a good day, have fun playing your classes and enjoy the game.
Well, some votes are in, must say I expected more Templar votes, maybe even warden, someone claimed before that it was "more popular than Arcanist"(which was silly but yeah). Of course this is not a good metric, but still, didn't expect Templar to be necro level bad. What happened?
Indeed, but what about the 'fun' factor in Templars and other areas outside of end-game? Truth be told, I don't see that many templars nowadays.KlauthWarthog wrote: »Well, some votes are in, must say I expected more Templar votes, maybe even warden, someone claimed before that it was "more popular than Arcanist"(which was silly but yeah). Templars are necro levels of bad. Raid groups will take a templar dps with them for execute-heavy trials, in the same way that raid groups have long been taking a necro dps with them for elemental catalyst.

Arcanist will be destroyed like necromancer once the new paid class comes out years from now. Enjoy it while you can
lol, nothing so drastic, but yeah.. I can definitely see more nerfs coming laterssewallb14_ESO wrote: »IncultaWolf wrote: »ssewallb14_ESO wrote: »Arc is the one DPS class that doesn't feel like poop to play since U35. Shame it will likely see the same fate as the other DLC classes.

I know. It'll be "Fatecarver now does no damage and buffs allies" or some wacky thing that no one wants.

The arcanist made the game much more fun for me, though some players may be calling it more boring because they want 'challenge'.
No weaving?! You mean I could actually play the game without being forced to glitch and look silly?
Fun to a lot of people means you actually do damage, heal well, and can be tanky. You know. Just that general feeling when your class is actually powerful and not trash.Indeed, but what about the 'fun' factor in Templars and other areas outside of end-game? Success in what you're doing helps, yes, but mechanically a class can still be fun, whether or not it's also strong is a big plus (btw for what, Overland and normals? Which is what the majority engage in) This poll confirms my suspicion, people like easy, this is the majority left playing the game, casual people that would rather have a two button rotation than doing a 10 minute research for one of the more slightly complicated classes. I dislike this reality and my favorite class (thematically) will probably not change to include anything more complex. People play Arcanist despite disliking even the theme because it's "accessible".TechMaybeHic wrote: »Guess when the OP says "putting performance aside " is somewhat irrelevant as people enjoy performing at a high level

Could say warden because that is my main vampire. Could also say templar since thats my main wolf and I always enjoy playing wolf even in the state its in...
