Ok, so to keep this simple, as an arcnaist main, even I agree that clpeharics flail is overloaded (crit+defbuff+aoe+execute+cruxbuild+self healing...bruh) and yet, instead of tackling that to make it more managable instead you, zos nerf fatecarver....simple put, what the hell are you smoking????

    I never understood that.

    People were all uppity about HA builds for months on end, only finally going quiet after, as a 'grand finale' of a relentless stream of 'peelbacks', they gutted tri-focus yet arcanists were doing more damage with less effort all along and not a peep could be heard...

    Sure it's strong but I wouldn't say overpreforming, I mean, lets do the maths
    it does 4.3K per tick (with high end gear) and +90% damage per tick If you are willing are willing to spent 3 GCD building crux instead of doing higher than "eh" tier damage to gain 4 GCD for juicy damage, provided you do not have to block, dodge, bash, break free, deal with anything at all or do any mechanics other than laser, cuz if you do then, well, that's your damage wasted.

    On a side note, I kinda gree with the sheild changes on the pragmatic fatecarver morph, as, well, it's a non-choice atm, the "damage" morph is junk tier at best, but, well, zos should have made the exshacting fatecarvet do +10% damage per tick, but removing the snare instead of nerfing pragmatic, that way it would at least feel good, ya know?

    and this is entirely side stepping the issue that flail is overloaded af and zos didn't do a damn thing about it

    Nah, high end gear with beam nets you ~13K dps (not facotring crits, cuz rng) which can be increased to whopping 24.7K dps (base, no buffs, no crits, just base damage) if you're willing to give up three whoel GCD and leave yourself vrunable to interrupts and unable to bash, dodge, block, heal, bar swap or do anything other than beam for the next 4 seconds, which makes it juuuuust shy of wrekcing blow in terms of DPS when you facotr in the down time between blasts.

    And again, this is overlooking the issue that the flail is overload AF

    Dont forget to multiply the dmg of fatecarver to ALL Enemies in front of you for example when you are fighting the reef guardian. The best DPS on Reef Guardian HM is 311k on Arcanist while the second best class is DK with 179k. On Vrol HM its even 233k to 193k and DK is an AoE heavy class, the next non Arcanist/DK Class is Templar with 177k.

    Long story short, Arcanist is overperforming a lot in PvE content as DD and the nerf is right in place.

    I was more hoping that other classes will get buffs, to get higher numbers like I mentioned above, but non of these changes will allow to be on par with Arcanists. The nerf is a start and more needs to follow to really balance the DD classes.

    It is not the nerf I object to, it is the underhanded way it is done. With a new chapter, there is some item that is deliberately left overpowered, and then nerfed several months after the fact when their sales drop off. Stranglers being the classic example of this.

    Or they could just make it so that the damage per tick gets evenly split between targets
    for example
    1 target takes 4K per tick, 2 targets takes 2K per tick and so on...

    as blunt as it might sound I simply don't want to end up in the stamplar situation AGAIN, where the one main capability fo the playstyle gets nerfed again and again over several pathces until it ends up functionally garbage and I'm forced to pick yet another class to get more than far tier DPS....
