whatever companions they come out with i pray they give us a way to fast track or not having to do the freaking intro quests on every toon

sharp and azander are mostly gathering dust for me because i only have access to them on 3 toons, and i refuse to do the intro quests on each of my toons for access to an account wide unlock, i wanted to try to build azander as a healer and sharp as a tank but i dont even bother using them to see if that works out well because my main is already a tank, and my other toons have isobel (set up as a tank) and bastian (set up as a healer), why go through the extra work to get additional companions when i already have ones that work?

if they continue this trend, any new companions will only be accessible on 2 of my toons, my main to experience the story and enjoy it, and a dps toon for powerleveling

wont get to enjoy figuring out a build for them since none of my other toons will have access

i will keep repeating this until something is done: having to repeat the companion intro quests on every character to use something that is unlocked account wide is awful and i refuse to bother with doing that anymore

and i will also say i really do enjoy the companion feature, but having to do the quest on every character to use them at all is extremely off-putting for me enough that i even stopped doing that (it doesnt help that the newer quests got even longer with more travel and unskippable dialogs)

Yeah, companions really need a "skip quest" when talking to them at this point like tutorial. Many players have alts and getting them on alts is getting a pain, but with the option to skip the people who do want to do the quest on their alts can.

Also wish the leveling up was faster. Don't get why they keep lowering the rapport needed, which was never difficult to get, but the xp they barely change. The only thing they did was change so you get more xp the higher rapport you have, which is a strange choice over just lowering the needed xp or increase xp gain. It's also again a pain in the butt with alts, in case you have an alt that works better for leveling companions with, because you need to go through quests to increase rapport.

i havent really had a lot of issues leveling them, i usually just take them into dragonstar arena with 150% xp scroll, scroll lasts 1 hour, and 1 run is about an hour, takes about 5-6 runs to get them to 20 (even 1 run a day is less than a week to get to 20)

i found rapport more annoying since that was daily limited, though with the newer thresholds it does go a lot faster

I want a customizable companion I can just use the character creator to make, I don't need it to have a personality or even dialog options. Just let me choose its race, gender, class, and skills/world skill lines.

One of the things I was thinking about would be a customizable companion (or two) where you could could customize the character's looks, and choose quests/personalities (that ZoS would create of course).

So, like there would be 4 'personalities' to choose from, with quests that fit that personality and backstory for them. Name wouldn't be able to be customized (for voice acting), but all other cosmetic options would be able to be customized.

...what if they added not two, but four companions for the 10th year?

Not unless they give us the option to have them unlock on all our characters after we've done it once.

The quests to unlock the Companions have gotten longer each time and I don't want to have to do this the 28 times it would take for my 7 characters.

This should already be an option anyway in my opinion.
I say Ember's quest is pretty short, else I agree that the two new ones takes quite some time. You can however combine this with the public dungeon

I hope for a male Nord or Reachman with long hair (e.g. Center-part Long, Topknot Cascade, Casual Rascal) and a manly beard (e.g. Hrothgar Hermit, Boar's Nest, Braided Goatee) or a male Khajiit.

Even better, of course, would be an improvement to existing companions... such as being able to equip hair/beard styles, major/minor adornments and headwear.

I disagree. Although the quests are too long to be enjoyable, they should not be skippable. You need some sort of system event for unlocking.
But the story of the (now) unlocking quests could have been split into a short unlock only quest and a second story quest.
That would solve so many problems.

      On a side note ...

If you take the pressure out of your system, you can just wait until the next double XP event and grind Spellscar with the occasional Skyreach run in between. I had 9k - 11k companion XP per pull. That is less than ten pulls per lvl on average.

During Witches Festival I levelled four companions from ~ lvl 12/13 ish to lvl 20 on one morning of grinding (We had a public holiday where I live 😁 ).

Now I don't even know what to do with all those lv20 comps. 🤷‍♂️

Right now we have 4 humans, 1 elf, 1 Khajiit, and 1 Argonian, and no orc, so next I think we should get an Altmer or Bosmer companion and an Orsimer, and then the other elf (Altmer or Bosmer) and a Nord.

Altmer have been the most neglected — no assistant, no houseguest, no companion. Give me Verandis and I shall be satisfied. :kissing_heart:

To be honest, I really hope that the companion isn't a high elf necromancer. I would love a male Altmer, but not necromancer.

      Maybe an orc Necromancer.

I also would be fine with just two companions if they came with either the ability to customize them (within limits of course, such as Race/Sex/Class would be set, but you could customize hair, features etc...) or if they redid the companion system to make companions a bit 'smarter'.

Found that doing normal dragonstar solo or with an friend and companions, 3 arenas / level at the 17-20 level with event and +100% xp drink.
Not able to solo it so I just reset, with two you go to last boss and invite people for the drops.

Also just found that Azandar get an +125 doing daily enchanting writs or master writs first is daily last has an 15 minutes? cooldown so wait between handing them in. And they fixed it so Ember get 150 report from both failed and perfect heists.

Agreed! No megalomaniacal Altmer necromancer or quirky/perky Bosmer (I loved Eveli in Orsinium, but it was for her character arc). But I have to say that the character creation for the companions has done a good job not making the stereotypes. Yes, Mirri is a snarky dark elf, but she’s not Naryu. Ember is unlike most Khajiit in the game (which makes sense if she was raised outside their culture as I assume, I don’t know her story yet) and while I was afraid an Argonian companion might grate on me like Heem-Jas, Sharp not all all like that and my absolute favorite! So I am hopeful. :grimace:

Speaking of Race/Class/Curse stereotypes, it would be nice if we avoid the Wood Elf/Warden/Werewolf ("hunting/nature") and Altmer/Necromancer/Vampire ("prolonged life/undeath") stereotypes for future Companions.

For instance, a Class/Curse combo like Templar/Vampire could work, despite what the lorebooks say about Vampires and Werewolves being mortal enemies of Templars — consider how the vampire who turns you in the tutorial quest was even a priestess of Arkay at one point.

Similarly, you could have a Race/Curse combo that isn't stereotypical — consider the Altmer/Werewolf character Niralin from Archon's Grove in Summerset.

These are examples of Class/Curse and Race/Curse combos that aren't stereotypical, which proves that a cursed character doesn't need to be the stereotype to make for a compelling character.

It's also worth noting that neither of these characters wanted their curse, but they learned to live with it — the sort of character development that would be easy to explore in a Companion quest line.

I think we will get an Altmer and an Orc, that would only leave Bosmer as the last playable race. I can see them leaving Bosmer for a Fallenesti chapter should we go there. For sure one of them will be a necromancer. I dont think we will be seeing repeating races, so they will probably then go onto non playable ones like Moarmer. What if we see companions with non-playable classes? we've seen enemies with martial arts skills for example. maybe if we ever get central elsweyr, we will see a companion that does Claw-Dances.

Instead of giving a different new companion, why not let us have 3 companions at the same time while were out adventuring.

I know some people talk about companions not being useful, and don’t get me wrong, I like all of the various companions with their built in personalities and sayings and just to have an npc buddy to adventure with, for me that adds fun to my play, but ultimately I view their abilities as a third “set and forget” skill bar that automatically fires off the skills for me, and I gravitate towards the support skills that buff and heal me and/or the companion so the companion will stay alive to buff me as long as possible.

Right now my favorite companion in this regard is Azandar who almost never dies except to the strongest bosses (he even survived a Tho’at fight…once out of maybe six times so far, but hey!) and he almost always survives the other EA bosses and most of the world bosses I do. Some of the chars I play can heal him and with some he’s on his own for heals, and on those he dies just a tad bit more frequently, but not often at all. The build I use for him is inspired by Hack the Minotaur’s Battle Scribe build and it’s been working very well for me.🙂

I'd love to see a male altmer Sorc added, especially if he has just a touch of arrogance about him. I can see myself really enjoying an altmer with some charisma and sarcasm tucked up his sleeve.

I really loved Manacar in the quest "The Hulkynd's Heart". I enjoyed his personality and his attitude towards life in summerset- it would be really interesting to see another "hulkynd" on the scene with a strong personality and a mind of his own. Perhaps with a touch of arrogance still left in him from his time in Summerset, a remnant of a past life he can no longer be a part of, but longs for just a little.

(Manacar's VA was also really amazing, would love to hear him return, hint hint XD OR Robbie Daymond, he has an amazing vocal range and I'm certain he could voice an Altmer that sounds quite different from his original role as Fennorian.)

For me, it isn't so much the necromancer part, as it is just, to me, somewhat stereotypical.
