[Endless Archive] Zhaj'hassa Pillars Despawning or Failing to Spawn

Hi,

I was running Endless Archive today and encountered a bug when fighting Zhaj'hassa the Forgotten, specifically involving the pillar mechanic being desynchronized. Below is some general information about when the bug occurred, followed by a description:

Account name: @Polska_1999
Date: 06 November, 2023
Time: 9:00 PM CST (approximately)
Megaserver: PC-NA
Character: Erannar
Class: Necromancer
Location: Endless Archive
Run type: Solo (no companion)
Stage: 2-4-3
Boss: Zhaj'hassa the Forgotten

Description:

I had all three threads when I entered the encounter (2-4-3, solo run) against Zhaj'hassa the Forgotten. During my three attempts at defeating the boss, the spawning/despawning of pillars did not line up with the actual explosion mechanic. This caused for explosions to occur when no pillars were up on the map, forcing a wipe with an unavoidable one-shot.

At first, it looked like the pillars despawned after cleansing on a pad or after DPSing down the shield mechanic, but I also had pillars despawn suddenly when neither condition was met. I was able to successfully complete the mech once across the three attempts at defeating the boss (during the second run); however, the pillars failed to appear or despawned early every other time, resulting in a wipe. I also once attempted to go to the location where one of the pillars had been in case it was a visual bug, but that did not work either. Ultimately, all threads were lost and the Endless Archive run came to an end due to this bug.

I also noticed that, when pillars spawned, they often spawned at the edges of the arena, where it would be difficult to hide behind. However, I did not encounter any issues related to this directly, as the pillars were despawned and not-there before their placement could become a problem.

I submitted a bug report about this in-game immediately after it happened and can provide the reference # if needed. (If there is a different template the bug report should be submitted through, please let me know.) Also, please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide to help with debugging.

Thanks!

So it is a bug! I encountered it on my first solo run (it was the same stage too 2-4-3). Ended up dying to him three times, it was pretty frustrating :(

Yea, one of the times I fought this boss, pillars never spawned for any of the hide-behind-the-pillar mechanics. Fortunately, the damage from the explosion is not a 1-shot and I could survive it as a tank and rez the other player.

This bug doesn't happen all the time, though, as there are times when it has worked properly.

That's interesting to know, thanks! I was at (or near) max-resistances but admittedly lacked some of the mit passives and so it was still a one-shot for me, so you prob have to be very tanky to survive it even at arc 2 difficulty.

+1 Had this bug yesterday PCNA in duo. Tank survived twice and got my rez so we didn't lose a life. Oddly the pillars appeared while i was dead on the floor.

+2 had this last weekend with a tank friend in Arc 3 - he could barely survive and rez me and today in a solo run on arc 1 with no chance to survive with a DD set up

a Pillar did spawn but was instantly annihilited by one of those little blue orbs directly charging into it (literally within 1 or 2 sec)

I honestly sweat-drop if this boss comes up, with how buggy it is. One time I was able to burn him before he did the pillar mechanic, but the second time I was clearly behind the pillar and he was in front of it, directly opposite me, and I still got damaged by the blast. I survived it because I was built pretty tanky but there's definitely something going wrong with the mechanic. I wonder if it's because the arena is symmetrical and has edges, so there's no clear demarcation which side is inside/outside, if that makes sense, so the game doesn't register properly if you are behind the pillar from the point of view of the pillar itself. It's pretty frustrating to get that boss and wipe because of this, I do hope the devs can let us know if this is being looked at @ZOS_Kevin.

I can confirm, the bug exists. I was running duo, and we were one-shotted from this boss, because no pillar was spawn when the explosion occurred.

Do you mean the little orbs from the curse cleansing pads after using them? I'll admit that I didn't notice any of them hitting the pillars, but just because I didn't notice it doesn't mean it didn't happen. That's definitely a possibility for what could be causing at least some of the pillars to disappear. Maybe the pillars secretly have a health value when they're not supposed to, making them behave a bit like the fire orbs?

I've encountered this boss twice now in here. The first time some of the pillars landed to close to the edge leaving no way to hide behind them. That killed me the first time through. This time the pillars formed and the immediately vanished. I lost all my chances to progress because this bug stopped me.
