Everyone wants to know. Sorry if this is posted elsewhere.

Are you Banning Accounts or simply Deleting the Characters on the Account ?
  • AeliaVicusPlave
I hope they ban the accounts, anything else would be really stupid ;)

I can tell you've never played end-game content before. Because if you had, you would know there are no bots in end-game and VR content.

For those of you who don't read more than the first couple of posts, this post is made in sarcasm. The rest of the thread explains that. The OP made the same argument against one of my threads because he's a petulant child. I met his behavior with like mindedness - a mistake on my part.

Lol. They are working their way up to VR content. I have been playing since pre-launch and I have heard people like you say. There not in Eastmarch. Yeah no duh. They slowly move up to zones as they go. You don' t instantly get to VR content. I can tell you have no clue in general.

They are not removing accounts. I placed the bots that were killed by GM on ignore, many times, around 20 of them just to test THAT out, if they actualy removing bot accounts - after two weeks I can still whisp them.

Becasue they don't have to be there in ESO. All the gold and all the upgrade materials can be obtained in the first leveling zone. That's the problem, becasue they can destroy end game economy from low end zone.

I can tell right from the horses mouth they ARE banning accounts and when they do ban for botting the automatically refund purchase too as they know it likley was a fraudulent card used.

Trouble is the bot can buy accouts with stolen CC info faster than zos can ban them.

    That's disheartening.

No wonder I keep seeing the same bots over and over again that were supposedly banned.

I actually only said that because you said pretty much the exact same thing in one of my threads. I think it's pretty funny that you fell for that so hard. You prejudged me just like this without even knowing anything about me. See how it feels?

    PS. They are in Eastmarch.

LMAO @crush83! You do realize that they are hacking through the world and lvl 4 and 5 bots are traveling below the surface of the game taking nodes right? I can tell you've never played end-game content before. Because if you had, you would have a little more knowledge on the botting community. LOL

I could equally say try inspecting who you are talking *** about. I've been a member of this community since February. Been in multiple betas. Was VR2 when I unsubscribed 3 weeks ago. I've been among the most vocal on these forums about the bots.

You don't know these things because, judging by your profile, you're fairly new around here. Might try getting to know the regulars before you start slinging insults. That said, welcome to the party.

CSR has specifically said that they are banning accounts. Not just deleting the character or killing it but banning the account as well.

I'm just curious... If you've unsubscribed, why are you still hanging around the forums? Just to cause trouble? I'd buy the "oh, I want to keep an eye on all the changes..." except that if you've left the game you've done so for a reason, and if you've been around as long as you say you have, you'll know whatever reason made you leave won't be changed for a WHILE yet.

So, why are you here? Get a life, maybe?

Actually, I am keeping an eye on the changes and the pulse of the community. I keep hoping that they correct some of the things that made me decide to unsubscribe. Many of those things won't necessarily take a "WHILE" to change. Furthermore, I keep hoping to influence change by continuing to voice my opinion and add supporting details where I can. If they do change those things, I will promptly be resubscribing.

I'm not real sure where you get off telling me to "get a life, maybe" for frequenting some forums for a game I hold interest in. You're here too ***.

I would like to see an official answer on this question, for peace of mind.
  • j.frank.nicholsb14_ESO
There is NO way ESO is going to answer this kind of question, and I would not if I were them.

Second, ESO is facing a delicate balancing game here. The must make the game enjoyable and playable by as many people as possible. BUT they can not completely eliminate gold farming/selling and bots. Otherwise about 1/2 of their potential customers will leave or never sign up. Many people (kiddies I assume) want to buy their way to end game (with real money) and without the bots that is not really possible. It is a sad reality of MMOs.

So, save all your wonderful suggestions - ESO is struggling to find a way to allow the botting and gold sales while making it as "invisible" as possible. It is a requirement to compete in today's MMO market place.

Not answering the question is probably an indication that they are not banning accounts. Which is bad news.

I would have to agree with the above post.

It would be a fairly simple clarification of what the majority of us already believe to be self-evident in the EULA, & most welcome.

Beginning to fear at this point they need the subscription numbers to offset those who unsubscribed after their free time was spent.

This sad fact, which I happen to agree is a fact of modern gaming, leads me to believe the only way to eliminate bots is to take over the market, by ZOS selling gold for cash themselves. I hate such a tactic and like to work my way up, but having observed the problems many games face, I've been persauded it's the only plausible way of eliminating botting and farming.

Any black market brought on by a form of prohibition is only ever lifted by re-opening the market and thereby wiping out the illicit traders.

The fact is, the game currently suffers from gold selling anyway but also the botting\farming ills, if ZOS sold the gold, it would only suffer from the former. So it's a lesser of two evils trade-off.

Nope, the VR1 bots I've seen are running around the starter zones harvesting.

I think its easy for us to detect. If you ignore an account and report a bot name. If they ban the account, the ignore system removes the name, so it also removes it from our ignore list...

But if the bot name is removed but the bot account remains, so it does in our ignore list :)

I can say with absolute certainty that when Gamemaster Antibody was making the rounds in Glenumbra I was watching bots get moved and dropped all in one area atop a crate in the zone I was randomly questing in, and one by one they vanished (not the instant vanish of a teleport hack, either).

I can't say for sure whether those accounts were banned or those characters were deleted, but I can certainly say that when the Gamemaster was there, he wiped the slate clean. There were none left in the zone. I just wish he and other Gamemasters did it more often.
