So, does it seem really odd that the devs didnt see this exploit coming?

Or, is it more likely they realized it would happen but just were not that concerned about, you know, pvp balance.

i think this is partially why we have a tank meta

every time something comes out that actually works to kill people (pre-nerf hrothgar for example), people complain, then the item is overnerfed into niche or uselessness (in the case with hrothgar it had a bug fix and an unneeded nerf at the same time making it worthless)

i never actually used hrothgar because i was still collecting it pre-nerf and due to the bug fix + the nerf reducing its dmg potential by 75% it wasnt worth using

I'd argue much of the reason you have a tank meta is due to the amount of damage.

For example, my character that died to a Vestments boosted DK was a Warden healer that had around 35k HP. If that type of thing becomes common, I will likely need to adjust by raising my hp, adding more critical resistance, or by using Nibenay Bay Battlereeve. All of which will make my character more tanky.

35k hp? That's absurdly low for warden healer. 40k minimum, should be almost 50k if you are properly optimized.

The problem with Cryptcannon is the same problem that came up when bombing became a play style with the release of Dark Convergence. The item’s intended use and its actual use are two different things. In the case of Cryptcannon, no one is using these things to counter ball groups. It’s small scale groups killing one or two people with insanely overturned damage.

If you hand your neighbor a machine gun to fight a small zombie horde, and he uses it to hunt gophers in his backyard, that’s a problem. Likewise, if ZoS hands players a set with overturned damage to fight tanks and ball groups, but the tanks and ball groups use it to annihilate solo players with 25-30k HP, folks should point out the problem with that scenario and request/demand a solution.

Cryptcanon isn't intended to fight ball groups in any way, shape, or form. It's just a tool for small group play, that's it. It's essentially dynamic ult gen with extra terms and conditions.
