I'm not ashamed of my name, it's not a mystery, why should I hide it.
But also I don't have friends and don't look for one, so your problems aren't mine.

Well I've learned that no one else will get my real name in the future. Actually there are only 2 people I've met in ESO that know it anyway.

All this time, I thought SilverBride was your real name. :disappointed:

generally I go with a form of their @name. sometimes that includes a part of their real name.

i prefer not to use my real name. boundaries are important.

Yeah, my @name is a variation of my first name, and it's an internet and gaming screen name that I've used in different forms in games and on forums for years. Even the current one I'm using here is a shortened variation of it. That's more or less my online identity rather than any specific character I play.

No its much more fun to call someone "Friend, Eternal Pal of the Joyful Path of Gaming"
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

I really don't have any in game friends and I definitely don't have any that I know in real life.

in game, I call them their in game names. I'm not sure if other people are privy to their RL information or not.

I finally got my game friend to stop calling me by my real name but the first thing he said was "Can I call you dear then?" I said "No." and he hasn't, but when I logged on the next day first thing he said to me was "Good morning, Sunshine."

I really don't understand the resistance to just calling me Silver but I'm pretty much done if it doesn't stop.

It's so obvious, I find it hard to believe that you don't know what's going on.

Everyone calls me by my nickname in the game, no one has asked my name, but I wouldn't have any problems if they called me by my real name, Izaak.

But you have to respect the will of others.

I highly recommend not sharing your real name on the forums and in the game. It is against the code of conduct to share personal information.

I don't share my real name with anyone online for my own safety and protection. If anyone ask me for my personal information including my real name, I block and report them.
