Anyone else want in-game voice chat?

From my personal experience, in-game voice chats always tend to be ***.
Bad audio quality, audio lag, bad interfaces, that kind of stuff.

If it were to be implemented, it would have to be equally as good as any downloadable voice chat system.
Otherwise people will revert to using their third-party programs and ZOS will have wasted their time and resources implementing something useless.

This right here. It would be nice to have but there are bigger issues to dedicate resources to.

You think him talking would be any different in response?
A phone conversation is more productive than mail. It's the rate of exchange that's paramount in comparison.

Youve never spoken with half of my contacts then lol.

My point is, youll still get that idiot that isnt paying attention or takes forever to respond. Voice wont fix that.

My mother responds to letters. Cant get her to answer the phone to save herself.

Answering a phone is not the same act as talking on a phone. Once your mother has answered the phone, I'm sure she responds just fine.

You can't legitimately expect us to believe that an argument exists by which voice communication is as slow as typing.

I personally wouldn't find it useful, but I could see how others might. I definitely agree it is not high on the list of things that need addressed at this point.

As an aside, given the many benefits of guilds and establishing a community, I am amazed at how many want the game to cater to solo / PUGers. The whole point of getting into a community like that is so you can play with people of a like mindset and not have to deal with all the downsides of a random PUG.

No to open world chat. Console CoD gave me enough experience with that cluster of pre-pubescence variable voice crackling. Dungeon's would be ok with mute/kick option.

I would think ESO has already developed a group/dungeon viop since it comes out next month on consoles. I believe the live chat is regulated through the game not live, since some games require you to switch from private/group to public chat to play certain maps.

I can see a use for it in a small group setting like a pug but then I think of all the crap that people spew in chat in a pug and shiver…

I agree some of the community would benefit from it but on a whole we would see a lot more ….." I was kicked and cursed at ect ect" posts on forums.

It is easy to report someone for harassment in type it can be seen and investigated and ss but how would they be able to investigate abuse claims in a voice chat. That would give most those type of people imho a work around to get away with the bad behavior.

Imho I think the bad would outweigh the good. I will stick to my own vent. Pugs be damned it is a roll of the dice on type of people you get and I don’t need to hear the crap I turned zone chat off to avoid. Again this is just my own personal opinion and I see the good and bad.

Obviously voice chat would only be heard by players in your group/raid...

You don't have to implement as a proximity thing at all. Sheesh. You're going to invite Gold Farmers into your group????

Do it like Lotro does. Group or Raid only. You won't be bothered unless you invite an idiot into the group.

And... it's often done on a dedicate server. The cries about server load are exaggerations.

This game is already not considered very group friendly--a lot of people think of it as a stand-alone game played in the company of other stand-alone players.

A dependable, basic, voice chat would simply be a tool in the arsenal to make it more social for those who want it. If EQ2 and Lotro are any indication, it can be very useful for that indeed.

Spot on. By all means let's not move forward I the 21st century and use typing to converse with others. We do not need a global chat, just voice for groups and raids (as per LOTRO). As noted above, I feel like 4 people in the same instance doing 4 different actions. No means to coordinate battles sucks.

For those who complain about lag, never had lag in LOTRO, a what - 9 - 10 year old game. This is hopefully newer - better??????

Couldn't play Lotro without it. It's amazing.

All group-based games should offer it these days.

You're living in the Dark Ages if you don't.

Lotro does do it well. When they went F2P, I'd say the age/maturity level went down a bit in the average player though making it less... advisable to put on voice chat in a pug. Still beats waiting for people to type, though, and missing what somebody says cuz it flew by in a bunch of other text at the same time, or having to type myself when in battle.

This shouldn't only be available IF you can get a group together that all use the same chat program--IN Game voice should be a core fallback option.
