My favorite thing is probably how great the character customization is with base appearance options, costumes, outfits, dyes, etc. As someone who's really into making characters and rp and stuff, I really appreciate how I can get my characters close to their canon appearance. Leagues better than any of the single player games.

On a similar note, house customization is amazing as well for the same reasons. I was playing Oblivion recently and was like wow I wish I could at the very least just move this bookshelf somewhere else, let alone pick a specific style.

I love the look of the game and how each zone is distinguishable from the others.

    I love the combat system.

I love how the game continues and expands on the lore and the lands of the earlier games.

I love the music, the voice acting, and the sounds and sound effects in general.

There are lots of things, but I'll pick one:

What I love about ESO is the big, beautiful, open world with so many, many hours of "handwritten" quests in it. This is what makes this game (just like TES Morrowind and Oblivion) so great - you can travel where you want when you want, exploring marvellous places, and will find new stories around every corner, not just some procedurally generated "kill 10 x and take the loot to y".

I like that almost every achievement is accessible to the average player. This is probably an unpopular opinion, I know some people want the gameplay to be harder. But I like that it’s not too difficult.

I actually like scrying, especially for furnishings. (I just don’t like scrying to level 7 on every character to get Keen Eyes…)

High Isle and Galen are especially beautiful and their music is lovely.

As an Argonian fan I love that we have some areas in their lands.

I appreciate that there's so much of Tamriel to explore, including places that are unlikely to ever appear in the mainline games. Many story quests, which let you see matters from the POV of the various races and factions, rather than being human-centric like most TES games sans Morrowind. The races themselves have generally been treated better, with each having their fair share of both good and bad folks. The combat is more interesting, the graphics are prettier too, which is no surprise since despite its age it's still the newest game in the series (I'm not counting Blades, because it's trash). When TES6 comes around, one of the first things I'll probably miss is the huge amount of outfit options my characters can take advantage of.

I like The Elder Scrolls because of it's awsome lore and fantasy world. And I love it when that lore and world is respected :)

I like The Elder Scrolls Online because I can explore so many different areas of the world. Some I already know and love, but others that I see for the first time.

I like The Elder Scrolls Online because of it's horizontal progression where every raid or dungean is relevant right now and fun to play.

I like The Elder Scrolls Online because it has a nice housing system. By far not perfect but one of the best I had in terms of mmorpgs.

I like The Elder Scrolls Online because of the many ways to customise my characters and make them fit ito the world the way I want.

I like The Elder Scrolls Online because it offers me awsome group content but also allows me to play alone when I feel like it.

That beeing said nothing is ever perfect and there are many aspects that the game can improve. But thats a topic for another discussion ;)

Thread title mentions ESO, but the OP says Elder Scrolls, so rather than ask for clarification, I'll just post about both.

TES: the lore, how the game sucks me in and gets hundreds, if not thousands of hours of gameplay out of me.

ESO: I could list many things, but this time I'll focus on the humor. Sweetroll jokes (and even a dungeon set that drops them during battle); funny random encounters, such as the Dunmer in Vvardenfell who shovels poo from the roads and, when the player shows surprise there's such a job, she asks the player if they thought "dung mages" took care of the task; the other day I was trying to get the "Pulled from the Depths" achievement in Apocrypha, expecting a fancy fish to pop up as in Wrothgar, but what I did catch got me laughing for a good 5 minutes.

What do you like about elderscrolls?

I am able to spell EDO correctly, most of the time.

More seriously... new zones and adventures are fed to me on a regular basis, and I don't have to do them or fall behind, so I am free to do my thing in the game. Group or don't group. Challenge or casual. Whatever I feel like that day.

    The art.

This game is absolutely gorgeous, and the art team almost never fails to create beautiful dungeon/trial instances. I'm a sweaty endgame PvEer who likes to run through the hardest content as fast as we can, but I have always needed a few slower paced runs in new content to stop and admire how absolutely gorgeous the 3D rendering and overall aesthetics of the game are.

The game gives you the tools to make the character you really want to play (when it comes to PVP/Solo at least). There really isn't any other multiplayer game on the market that comes close to the depth of build crafting this game offers.

Path of Exile maybe, but there are like 5000 0 viability for anything builds for every build that can clear the full campaign. Then those viable builds are more like stage 4 hurricanes than an actual character you can identify with.

My favorite thing is how game uses the existing established lore that the single player games seem to try to avoid talking about. ESO isn't afraid to use lore points like the Green Pact or Argonian gender swapping in its writing, while the single player games are very "safe" in their subject matter. (Even TES3 clings closer to standard fantasy fare, despite the distinctly unique locales the game offers)

Spellcrafting in Oblivion was a blast and I really wish that ZOS would finally follow through with their Quakecon 2014 presentation and deliver it to ESO.

Although, if what I heard about Update 40 is true, building our characters is about to become a lot more interesting.

What is this interesting bit you speak of in U40? o.0

It's not a violation of forum rules to speak about it, since it was included in an official ESO twitter post. Apparently "class sets" will be available (what that means is still a matter of speculation) in the new endless dungeon system coming later this year.

The ability to solo(at least for now, some of these changes lately has me πŸ‘€) As the father of a special needs child there is always the chance that even when I have time to play, I may have to afk quite suddenly to deal with a situation so grouping isnt always an option (unless you enjoy your tank or dps possibly going afk at random times ha ha.) In ESO most dungeons are quick so less risk and if need be I can solo a great many of them while still talking to guildmates.
