Speaking of the welwa radiant mount specifically. As someone who has wanted a furred welwa mount for years to use on my orc, it gets endlessly frustrating that when they finally add one it's some ridiculous looking radiant, instead of a simple and normal one.

It’s not my thing I prefer a more basic mount with a little uniqueness. I’m fine with my star born guardian Senche.

The flashy lights and what not isnt my thing but it doesn’t bother me what other people like or bother me. It’s a fantasy world we even in Skyrim had a mount you could get in the soul cairn that looked straight out of the crown store.

Well I am annoyed that they increased the intensity of the 'eyes' on the Shadow-Rider senche to the point that you can see the eyes glowing THROUGH the body of your character. It's extremely annoying to the point that I stopped using it. Seems lately they've been increasing the visual intensity instead of toning them down or just, stop fixing what isn't broken, in the case of my Shadow-Rider senche.

Oh I get what you are saying. You don’t like it for yourself how it appears I get it. I thought they meant it was annoying seeing others with it. Yeah it’s definitely a personal preference I prefer less flashy armor and mounts etc

i would happily take these immersion breaking cosmetics if we also get this games monetization instead of ESo's monetization.

I remember the days of horses. Just horses.

I remember back when I respected the devteam for keeping mounts a bit more down-to-earth.

Less so now, as we need to have RACING STRIPES! and ALL THE RGB ON THE ANIMALS! etc.

I'll stick to my very "plain" (but very handsome) Queen's Claw Senche-raht.

We so badly need a toggle to hide other players' combat and non-combat mounts anywhere within about 15m of
    - wayshrines
    - crafting stations
    - merchants of any type (including bankers).

This would make the game SO much better.

I like some of the flashy radiants, for the most part they are not too visually distracting, but I agree that the new mount with the Vateshran effects is a step too far, and the effect is too strong and intrusive. It worries me because the Arcanist skills are in the same vein, and I wonder if this is a new direction the Art team is going. Besides the visual clutter, which in any case is an individual preference, it also feels a bit out of place in the game.

I love my Welwa and it's visuals. Its why I used my endeavors to get it, didn't spend a dime on crates.
If you don't appreciate the art and visuals that were implemented well then don't get them.
Let other people enjoy their things, If this was changed after I spent at least a year accumulating the currency to get it I'd be livid.

I tend to use the more "normal" mounts, if one considers riding a large cat or dog to be "normal" Although, for my Ice Warden, I did pull out the ice horse, which I think was one of the first of the unusual mounts they sold in the Crown Store. At the time, I thought it was a little over the top, but I envisioned the possibility I might use it.

But we still see and get affected by the visuals even when we don't have them. It's hard let someone enjoy something that goes Flash-boom! in our faces and causes headaches.

Why should your enjoyment take precedence over other people's enjoyment? Just because you spent some sort of in-game currency on that abomination?

Sorry, but the visuals are obnoxious and intrusive and not really fitting ESO's overall style. Other people are affected by it, whether they bought any of the abominations or not.

I don't think anyone is advocating for outright removal or hard revision of the existing mounts. I think most folks just want a simple toggle that would allow you to hide other players mounts VFX. Just hiding other VFX in general would be appreciated as some of the flashier animations from sets and ultimates can cause some real issues for people with sensitive vision.

Just let us toggle these things off and folks would be fine. You can have your cake, and I can have my pie and we'll all be fine, just stop dropping your cake all over my plate.

I am sorry, but your welwa causes headaches. It's not an expression, it's a genuine problem some people have. So I would like to be able to turn its visuals off. It would only be on my side anyways, for you it will be as flashy as ever.

This would be a very good candidate for the Q3 QoL improvements, especially since it's impacting vision, and thus would be appreciated by a lot of players with eye sensitivity. Tagging @zos_kevin if they wanted to take a note and pass it to the Devs for consideration

If the Welwa gives you a headache you'd best not set foot in the new dungeons chapter or Vateshran or you'll be rolling on the floor. Consult your doctor. If your hobby is causing you pain best to find ways you can control to mitigate it. As for fitting the aesthetic of the game.... see the above places.

There are things your not going to like and that's okay but going on a crusade to remove others enjoyment for something they saved up to earn is scummy. I am in favor of more dynamic effect toggles than exist already but leave my things alone. I already have to deal with sweeping rebalances every 3 months.

You can request your guild/team-mates politely change mounts if you are running with them for the duration of whatever activity you are doing and there are toggles for the distortion effects in the game settings that can mitigate some of the more obnoxious effects, but the expectation that everyone else confirm to fit your taste is rater unreasonable.

Fortunately there doesn't seem to be too many of those dreadful pig-ugly immersion breaking 'Voidmother's Welwa' mounts.

Unfortunately, there will now be a significant increase in them, on the back of this thread.

Well if your enjoyment means jumping around in Vivec to annoy people with your mount's effects, then yes, it is okay to ask for a toggle for such effects. Like I said, I am asking for something that's client side, such as only playing the summon animation when the mount is actually summoned (and not every time you come close to it) or an ability to toggle mount effects. Neither of these would affect your gameplay.

I wonder if it's possible to have a client side toggle that changes mounts to be displayed as their basic version, i.e. a normal horse, senche, bear, etc.
I'd actually pay for such a toggle ...

Edit: EQ2 has a toggle like that, though I'm not sure whether it replaced mounts or simply did not display them at all.

I'm not sure what the Tera/Wildstar red herrings are supposed to show here. This thread is about the increasing visual and audible pollution of the game world via player controlled immersion breaking assets.
I'm sure one could always find extreme examples from other MMOs and it's well known that the asian MMOs have a different target audience. Those posts don't prove anything other than that these things exist in other MMOs, which has nothing to do with this thread.

WIth ESO's server architecture maps are simulated by individual server processes, and overflow instances are created as needed based on the map population cap and some heuristics for the performance of the map, so why could not we get instances à la carte?
        • standard instance just as the game is now
        • classic instance just as the game originaly was without the flashy stuff, more grounded, more congruent
        • immersive instance including classic instance + disabling speed upgrades on foot or mounted for more natural animations
