I never knew I needed a Banker until I got one

I always thought they were unnecessary and too expensive, so I never bothered to get one. Then one day I was at an out of the way furnishing achievement vendor and didn't have enough gold on my character for what I wanted to purchase and had to run back to town. That prompted me to purchase Baron Jangerplume.

Now I use him all the time and don't know how I ever got by without him.

I wonder what else I need...

The deconstructor assistant! :D I resisted getting her for a long time but then I realized this assistant is (in my opinion) the best one. It saves so much time because you can break down everything at one mobile station vs. running from woodworking to clothing to enchanting...
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

decon assistant is good with ESO+, it prevents you from having to go to all different crafting stations as peacenote said.

Merchant is not great tbh, all you can do is sell stuff to it, they can't repair or sell you lockpicks.

Stuff like extra armory slots and outfit slots are per-character so the answer of whether or not they are worth the 1.5k crown price is going to be entirely subjective. For PC I do not think the armory assistant is too necessary, but for people not using add-ons or characters that swap between werewolf and vampire and wildly different CPs, it may be needed to cut down on time.

The great thing about the Decon assistant is that you can decon everything at once instead of running to multiple tables. It's all a single menu. You can filter down if you'd like, but the default is just to list everything to be able to deconstruct at once. I use her instead of tables at my houses now for that reason. So, even when you're standing right next to the tables, she's better if all you want to do is deconstruct. Still need tables to refine or improve though.

In addition to the Banking Assistants and Deconstruct Assistants (as of today, it's only Giladil, but there's a new one coming Thursday; Aderene, Fargrave Dregs Dealer), I find the Merchant Assistants just as useful in the field.

You can also place (and use) all of the Assistants in your houses.

If I was to only buy 1 assistant it would be a banker. Playing without one would be excruciating. You can bank everything and then decon what you don't want to keep when you get to some tables. There tend to be more merchants wandering about the country side.

First assistant I bought was a banker, but the one I'm using the most is the armory assistant. I actually wasn't using the armory system at all because porting to a house to just quickly change build was 2 loading screens too many. Now my skilled chars all have pvp/pve builds, and chars who still need skillpoints and skill lines have pve/craft builds. I no longer plan ahead which char I'll be playing, just do daily writs on all chars as always and switch builds whenever I'm on a char I want to actually play.

I feel the same way. I have a banker on my main account that was a gift from one of my kids, and it is SO handy. I never thought I needed it until I actually got one.
My second account doesn't have one, and I really notice the lack of it in game. I just wish they weren't so expensive.

I have had the assistants so long now, it’s hard to remember not having them.

I was content with the first versions (and yes they do make excellent house guests as well) until the crows came out. I bought those because the interaction was so unique and fun.

Anyway, as more assistants come out. And I think they are appropriately themed to at least three of my characters, I will continue buying them.

I have my Alfiq banker and merchant, so I am happy! Although that crow assistant that has a Khajiit with it is tempting too...

They are pretty handy and save a fair amount of running around, especially when doing your daily crafting writs! Can just spawn them in, get your alchemy/provisioning items to turn in and you're laughing

I hate that my Dark Elf banker keeps telling he used to be in prison. It's one of those random speeches when you complete specific content, the game picks out races related to the quest.

I don't understand the appeal of the deconstruction assistant. I only decon on a character with all the passives and I only decon purple/gold items and jewellery. If I'm on a different character then the gear goes in the bank to be deconned by a crafter.

Help me understand please! Does everyone else decon good stuff on non crafters or do they have all their characters as crafters?

Yeah. My main server 99% of the time is EU, but sometimes I play on NA (in case maybe one day they shut down the EU servers but leave NA up for some reason) and it's sooooo noticeable not having a banker and trader for me. I say trader as well because, especially being a fraction of the progress and having no resources, I always want to sell off full inventories of loot ASAP because I'm desperate for cash over there.

Assistants are also great interactable house furnishings. That sounds super dehumanizing lol but when you're making a market build, for example, having traders and bankers to stand at stalls really brings the spaces to life.

The assistants are great, I just remember the outrage at the time with them being the "wish" versions for the cost(bankers that can't access guild, merchants that can't repair) at least(if I'm remembering right?) the fence was free(but she takes a cut and can't launder. I never use her if I can help it. I have the rag merchant as well. Haven't got the armory one yet, but so far it's no big deal to pop into my home if I decide to pvp etc yet. Banker and deconstruct are my two most useful ones.

The cat/crow merchant & banker assistants are great. I learned to dislike the full sized ones because other peoples assistants were always getting in way when not needed and disappearing when needed. The fence is bit meh but at least earned ingame. Thay are bit expensive but Crowns tend to pile up with eso+ and crown store frankly does not have that much stuff worth buying other than merchant and banker for a non-whale.

All the characters I use that assistant on have the decon passives. Though I generally only decon everything intricate, light armor as I used to always be short ancestor silk for writs, and jewelry. She is also very handy for getting a new character's crafting skills up to speed quickly. Just go play the character and decon all the drops at the end of the day, most of it is worthless anyway.

      Two (and 1/2) things:

      - Everything I want to Decon is in one window. I don’t have to go from crafting station to crafting station. One shot, done.

      - I can Decon in the field rather than waiting for later. Yes I do bank gear (and I put even green gear into the bank) until I get on one of my crafters. But I can decon in the middle of nowhere, to open up bag/bank space if I wish.

      - And I am so desperate for wood elf house guests that I will take anything at this point.

I agree on both points but definitely how assistants are unnecessarily expensive. The convenience though is great especially during trials when you need something or if you have the decon assistant to decon items during the run. Gold access at traders is awesomely convenient too as you describe.

Since assistants are so expensive I wish they sold skins for them so I could buy the Golden saint skin for Ghasrog the Armory assistant instead of have to buy a completely new assistant at full price.

The decon assistant is particularly handy in trials where are you are able to quickly rid your inventory of non-set item trash and bind items that you need for your sticker book in one action in between pulls without having to hold up the group.

I only decon purple/gold quality items, and all jewelry. So my usual approach is: Sell everything else to a merchant, deposit purple items in my bank. Repeat until my bank is full. Then swap CP, and decon and then refine at the same time, one by one.

For that, the decon assistant will never be a useful thing for me. I just pull out my merchant/banker to clear inventory.

All my characters craft to do writs and can decon good stuff, but I tend to have them place good items in a chest I have at my houses so one character can gather them at the end of the day and decon all at once. But if I get the decon assistant I can skip that and just have them quickly decon their own items. I'm definitely going to look into getting one.

Banker is a must! I played a long time with Ezabi as my only assistant and purchased Fezez primarily for an Alfiq party at my Sleek Creek house but it has been handy to have a merchant on demand (if my bank were not full of furnishings, I can’t inagine needing a merchant at all as I could stash more stuff to sell or decon later).

I can’t see myself getting a decon assistant as I only have one character with both the CP and all skill point passives to maximize returns. If it’s not worth saving for my crafter to decon, then I sell it to a merchant. Plus I confess I really don’t like that the assistant is called a “rag picker,” but that’s just me.

Several times I’ve thought an armory assistant would be helpful, but I’m waiting for the right one for my characters. I’m thinking another Alfiq or another Khajiit or an Argonian or an elf (can’t believe we have crows, robots, and daedra and not a single Altmer assistant nor houseguest). I have to like their look, voice, and personality too — these assistants are expensive after all!

The crow banker and merchant assistants are the crows themselves and you see them perch on your arm when you interact with them.
