Seriously, THANK YOU. I love these lil mini events. After dealing with whatever RND pug thinks they have to run through everything and actually make everything take longer with all the deaths and inability to get through doors, etc. It is SO pleasant to just tour the countryside for double drops and farm until my lil heart is content. I love these mini events even more than most of the actual events. ANY zone I just feel like spending time in, mmmm.

This allowed me to get rid of some master writs, and I'm now only 4k writ vouchers(was 8k) away from one of my overall goals: All set crafting stations in my second house! (Gold coast Erstwhile Sanctuary)

But I can’t help feeling that it’s a little tone deaf considering our +100% AP event got pushed back, an easy compromise would have been to add that double AP to this Explorer’s Event, even for only a weekend, it would have worked great to roll over our disappointment.1 -

Thanks for the feedback and glad you're enjoying the event! We like doing these a few times a year, so it's always a fun surprise. I'll be leveling some weapon skill lines myself.

So it is double drops, but the way it works is that you get a second RNG roll. Which is why you can get anywhere from 6-14ish ruby ash wood from a node.
From what I saw with housing mats, instead of the usual 0 to 3 housing mats you can get, now you can get anywhere from 0 to 4 (actually, up to 6!)

Glad I am currently taking a break from this game, as this event would tire me out before the big one hits. Events are already taking their toll on me sadly and I haven't even been playing as long as some people.

The thing I love about these Explorer events is you can participate as little or as much as you like, and you can get that extra gold or XP or mats anyway you want and anywhere. Just doesn’t get any better than that.

I don't really view the Explorer's Event as an event so much as simply a reward for logging in and playing.
To me, event burnout starts occurring when I feel like I HAVE to jump through X hoops to get my daily event tickets between X date and X date, repeat the same quests I have for 8+ years, and/or feel chained to a specific map in order to benefit.
This is not that. This is me just running around doing my normal thing, having a break from the event ticket chase, and benefitting from double gold, double XP, and double harvesting nodes on any map my heart desires. And I didn't think to look at Clam Gall and Mother of Pearl, was in a hurry at that point before my 150% XP scroll expired.______________________________________________________

Minor correction to my early statement: you can actually get 0 to 6 housing mats from a node.
Unfortunately I never tracked the drop rate of housing mats before this event (though I'll probably do it afterward.) I think, based on nirncrux drops and platinum dust, that the drop rate of items doesn't increase since we aren't seeing those items more often, just more of them when we see them. And even then it seems like there's a zero on the roll table for those items and housing mats, since it's possible to only get 1.
Now, small sample size, but from about two hours of farming Craglon during the event, I got this distribution of Mundane Runes:
0 Runes - 74 times
1 Rune - 15 times
2 Runes - 11 times
3 Runes - 9 times
4 Runes - 4 times
5 Runes - 0 times
6 Runes - 1 time
So its still very heavily weighted towards zero runes. And even when you do get a Mundane Rune, it seems to me there's a Zero on the drop table or else we wouldn't be seeing only 1 Rune drop, i.e. a (0+1) or a (1+0) result from the doubled rolls.1 -

No event is mandatory. There's absolutely no reason why events should be taking their toll on you.5 -

Survey maps remain the same, they do not get increased by the event. Only normal harvesting nodes are increased.
Not sure about clam gall and mother.
