do the quests all feel the same to you?

No, I do not find the quests anywhere close to the same, but I do listen/read the entire quest. Yes you are the hero everyone needs to save the day, but that is pretty much the point:p

As for public dungeons, if I walk in and everything is dead. I just wait a minute (or less) and it respawns. Very rarely are there bots running the whole length of the dungeon. Now it is easy to find the boss because there will be a group - I don't see bots now but rather players who are trying to get stuff. The loot/lack of doesn't bother me at all. I like that you aren't handed things left, right and center. Also, most dropped gear gets deconstructed anyways because the players have set items (crafted or drop).

I agree, after a little while the quests begin to feel repetitive, but I definitely prefer this over Perfect World International's kill quests. At later levels, they're making you kill 50 of each type of enemy, which takes a little over two hours to do if you can't find any party members on the kill grounds (most often, you won't).

Quests are the means to an end.

    No need to overthink them.
There is a tide in the affairs of men, which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat. And we must take the current when it serves, or lose our ventures.

Not really, I'm on the last zone of the first VR pact (The Rift) and I have yet to get the "daily quests" feel like I did in "The Other Game That Shan't Be Named"
The statement "if you put enough monkeys behind enough typewriters... sooner or later one will produce the works of Shakespeare" has sadly been proven utterly wrong by the internet...

Questing is not my favorite thing to do in an MMO but I'm quite impressed with the quests in ESO compared to other games I've played.

For those of you who think the quests are lacking in variety, I invite you to take part in this challenge to see how many different types of quests we can collectively list.

There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of quests in this game. It gets pretty difficult to come up with something original quite quickly. If the people on this thread can come up with 100 different ideas for types of quests (which would still mean each one is being repeated several times) I'll concede that the naysayers have a point. If that's too difficult, I think you have your answer.

    I'll start you off:

    1) Kill x number of monsters
    2) Collect items from x number of monsters
    3) Rescue/escort NPC
    4) Kill boss monster
    5) Solve word game riddle from NPC
    6) Solve spacial riddle - moving objects around in sequence
    7) Timed run from one place to another

If you have ideas to add to this list, please continue in the numerical sequence so that we can count them easily.

As my boss always says, don't complain about a problem without proposing a solution.

You don't even get bacon its more of a cheap version of ham which is 3 levels too low..

That's odd, since I don't think I've ever received a quest reward that was lower than the intended level of the quest and I know for a fact that all my vet level quests have rewarded something equal level to the zone.

The only time a reward has ever been disappointing has been pulling 10 gold and no other loot off one of the tougher quest bosses(not the quest reward itself or nothing at all off a world boss.

I always pick up one quest and do it, then go for the next rinse and repeat. While this isn't the fastest way of doing it, it keeps the game entertaining in the long run and you can really follow the story of each quest.

If you have several active quest´s you lose track of what you actually do and it often leads to a "now I need to go there and afterwards there oh and I also need to deliver a package...".

ESO also supports this quite well, as most quest´s have a very unique location so that you see something new most of the time with a new quest.

Today I saved a city and found a pig, that's all I did in an hour or so. ;)

I love the quests. This is the first game that actually makes me care more about the quest storylines than leveling. It's a nice change of pace from the usual formula of other MMOs, which entails:

    1) Talk to NPC.
    2) Kill 5000 monsters.
    3) Return to NPC and collect reward.

The worst part are the puzzles. As someone who hates quests, I absolutely hate when I get a puzzle quest, and it forces me to read! Typically I just spam guesses until I get it, which probably takes longer than just reading and thinking. But occasionally I'm forced to either read and think or skip the quest!!!

Haha, I'm a bit sarcastic here, but a bit serious too :P I got through them all fine, but I do hate them.

I don't think it's just MMOs, most First Person Shooters are the same. You normally get a mix of:
Kill things (either X number or til you get drop Y)
Go to X and do Y
    Escort NPC to point X
    Avoid NPC X
    Solve puzzle X

The avoid NPC X type I've only seen in a handful of games, first in LOTRO. I've not yet found an MMO where Solve Puzzle X was not stupidly easy.

The only other system I recall finding was in SWTOR, where you had a series of quests where you had to get line of sight to location X, and where you actually were at the time was irrelevant.

Quests need to be about the story in order to grab you, as there are a limit to how many skills you can be tested on in any game without alienating many.

Some interesting points. I guess I'm use to the immersion of single player story and I'm not feeling it here. I'm no rusher and I do read all the dialogue, but I have 100% each island so maybe that is the problem. Maybe I'm just not meant for mmo games. Who knows. I appreciate the input, thanks.
