The "little" Wasp

luzpteb17_ESO
So this is technically and literally a bug.

I first experienced this in Shadowfen (haven't tried any other region) while fighting two wasps there comes a time where you end up with eggs on your back and little guys are born to join the fight against you but when you defeat the "parents" before the little wasp is born then that Wasp will end up following you around (like a pet).

I don't really want to report this bug but there is no place else where i can basically say that I want this "bug" as my pet.

My question is how do you know they are born to fight against you? It just could be they were born, see you as mom / dad and then its a nice feature for a temp pet. That's the way I took it and thought it was cute :)
  • luzpteb17_ESO
When the parents are alive they attack me so Im guessing the intent is to fight against the enemy of its parents. However once following us it doesn't really help us.

Remember that episode of Tom & Jerry, where the woodpecker egg fell out of the tree, rolled into Jerry's home, then hatched under his blanket and decided he was its new momma? Congratulations, you are now living the cartoon life!

I don't believe that it's a bug, since if you don't manage to kill it's "mother" it'll fight against you, but if you do manage to kill her, it'll see you as it's new mommy, it's only a natural be(e)haviour considering you're the one who it was attached to in the first place.

As of what I know, it's only the yellow wasps that uses a power attack to spawn the egg on your back.

Just occured to me, Wasps aren't Bugs.

A Bug is an Insect that sucks up it's food (like a fly for example).
Wasps chew their food, they have mouthparts that grind up their food, they can't and don't suck.
Ergo This can't literally be a Bug.

I dont think this is a bug, i think its intentional. I wonder how many other cool things are hidden like this?

    Wasps are indeed insects, btw.

You may have missed the point.

    I wasn't saying they aren't insects.
I was saying they Aren't bugs.
There is a scientific definition for Bugs.
And it isn't "is an insect"

Hemiptera???? /hɛˈmɪptərə/ is an order of insects most often known as the true bugs (cf. bug), comprising around 50,000–80,000 species[2] of cicadas, aphids, planthoppers, leafhoppers, shield bugs, and others.

All true bugs are insects, not all insects are true bugs.

A wasp is an insect, but not a true bug.

If its a flying or crawling insect, arachnid, sugmented creepy crawly or ant its a damn bug.

Real wasps would paralyse you, drag you into a safe cave and then lay their eggs on you.

Wasp babies are born as Larva, not fully formed. And they would devour you while you are still alive, then pupate into wasps.

They would not see you as a maternal figure, just a fresh meal.

That said, I quite like the way they follow you around in game ;)

    Right.....
Nothing like seeing players get dragged into caves crying for help....that would be hilarious.

I had to search this after wondering for a while about my baby wasp. I think this is an Easter Egg. Mine appeared after I'd killed the mother so I assume it was an attack it got off before it died.

It fought with me and got itself killed by being far too enthusiastic in its role as protector. It was actually a little bit helpful for a while. But its recklessness was always going to see it die quickly. I don't see how it could be an unintended bug if you can't harm it and it fights with you. And if it is.. that's a nice coincidence they ought to leave in.

I've returned to that same spot to see if I could get myself another egg but, alas, no more baby wasp pets have spawned.

Just insect egg not easter egg. Anyway you can replicate it as many times as you like, just make sure you see the "flower" like egg appear on back of your char and kill the mom before it hatches.

Bug in game or not, pretty funny still.
