Tapping the key is what makes your horse sprint. Holding it is just a gallop. So having more stamina allows you to tap the key more.

That's not true. That was debunked a couple of weeks ago. Holding the key makes you go faster. The animation when you start sprinting makes it LOOK like your horse is moving faster, but in fact it does not. Tapping the key slows you down.

Some people decided to do a side by side horse test, the person holding the key down went significantly faster than the person tapping it.

It takes a moment to gain speed but yes, the sprint works the same way as the other games. Hold it and keep speed.

I was curious, so I just did my own quick test running from point to point. Easy for anyone to try. Pick two points (they don't have to be real far) with a clear straight path. Then start and end in the same spots.

    Time is in seconds.
    No key pressed-19.7,19.7,19.8
    Key held-16.8,16.9,16.9
    Key Tap- 15.9,15.9,15.7

I know some people will think I'm making it up, but try it for yourself. I will say when tapping the key, it's not about how fast you tap. Press it and hold til you see the stamina bar drop significantly then release and repeat.

Travel is already a nightmare. They need to consider this carefully. Because once they fix this bug, people will be choked that they have to trot everywhere.

Sprint doesn't last long enough. Considering it is a...horse, they should give it some credit.

Time your horse can sprint can also be how long it takes to dismount you. Besides. Stacking speed you sprint faster, and nothing is stopping you from raising a speed horse.

Only reason to ever feed for stamina is to prevent dismount. Thats it.
LOL, no, you are just grasping at straws now and obviously don't want them to fix it. How long a horse can sprint = / = how long you can stay on your horse while being attacked. It blatantly states allowing it to sprint longer AND take more hits. Not allowing it to sprint longer WHILE taking more hits.

Then invest in more stamina? You have50 pts to invest into the horse, if you want a super fast horse that can run a long time, Put 30 into speed and 20 into stamina. Well, when they do fix it that is.

I'm telling you guys that when the stamina runs out, your horse does slow down slightly. It is slight, but if you look closely you will be able to tell when your horse runs out of stamina without looking at the bar.

The thing is when you hit 0 and then you let go of sprint, and try to sprint right after before your horse regens stamina, you cant sprint, so its obvious that this isn't working as intended.

Speed is suposed to be a good thing to scout in cyrodiil as it says in the speed description is a Horse good for scouts. Now if you make him stop speeding after 5 seconds because it runs out of stamina how is that a good scouting horse?

Just leave the horses the way it is in the open world and pvp, and use some clicking or stamina/speed mechanic for horse racing mini game only.

I like the way the horses move as it is now. One of my complains is that the horses at level 1 are way too slow i almost sprint as fast as a horse, now that my horse have some speed points on it it makes traveling on horse much more enjoyable.

I actually heard theyre working as intended. When your horse is out of stamina he kicks you off when a mob breathes on him anyway.

If you want it to go farther, put points into stamina, it lasts much longer than "5 seconds" I have 5 points into stamina so far and my horse can sprint quite a while before he runs out of stamina.

I read that quote, and they didn't say it was working as intended, they simply ignored it and said it is also used to not fall off the horse. If you let go of sprint when the stamina reaches 0, you cannot start sprinting again, hence it is not working as intended.

"There is a lot of confusion about the horses stamina mechanic. Apparently the unlimited sprinting is no bug but intended. This makes investing into stamina look inferior to speed though. Do you care to explain how it exactly works and how it is intended to be used?
•Stamina for horses not only controls when you can sprint on the horse, but also determines if you’ll get knocked off while riding your horse. When that stamina bar goes down to 0 and you get hit, you get knocked off immediately."

Specifically saying WHEN YOU CAN SPRINT, as in, its not supposed to be unlimited.

    1. The sprint is not working as it is written so we must assume it is not working as intended. End of story.

    2.

Stamina is supposed to determine how long your horse can run, but if it stays as is, everyone will just be piling their points into speed and we will just have a stalemate constantly.

You are assuming that the race won't have any additional features like carrots floating that when you pick them up gives a speed boost or various paths with high risk high reward such as jumping a gap as a short-cut.

    3. I would like to see a test showing whether a max speed or max stamina horse is "faster" if sprint were working as written (since I'm assuming they'll fix it before racing is added). I would love to see a video of a Max speed horse next to a Max stamina horse running side-by-side with the stamina rider letting go of sprint and letting it recharge as it is written and probably going to be patched to do eventually.
