Help, I finished the game at lvl 43

Hi, before you blame me for not doing enough quests etc., let me explain that I have done all quests I have ever come across besides group dungeons. I have done all main quests (except for the harborage quest line which probably only continues when I'm 50), I've done all side quests I've ever come across, and I have done as much exploring as I could.

Looking at my map shows all icons in white (saying I achieved this or that) with the exception of maybe 2-3 black ones remaining. I have not done many private dungeons and haven't done any group dungeons. I've played just a few hours of pvp and even grinded mobs for about 2 levels.

I cannot see any places I may have missed worth of another 7 levels. Since maybe level 20-25 I noticed I fell behind in level compared to the mobs. I arrived at Bangkorai where I received my first quest to kill a chief reachman, but they were all lvl 37 and up, while I was a mere level 29.

How can this be? What have I missed? I have not cheated anything? I did all of my quests in detail (killing more mobs than I had to).

After completing all of Bangkorai I was still only around level 38. 38!! That's basically the level I had to be to arrive at Bangkorai.

I have also done every quest on Stross M'kai and any other zone that seems accessible to a Covenant player.

So now I wonder: Am I the only one with this problem? And how do I go from here? Do I just kill another 70 million mobs to get to lvl 50? Anything I may have missed that could explain the large gap?

You'll only need to get to level 45, I believe, for the final Harborage quests to begin. Look around for overland bosses to fight, anchors to close or public dungeons to complete again. You should be able to gain those two levels fairly easily.

Im sorry I dont have any suggestions for you. I just dont understand how that could have happened. Sounds like you have been doing it similar to how I have played, but Im lvl 47 and am just starting the coldharbor zone.

Thanks for the comments. Ofc it's basically impossible to tell me where the fault could be as that would require examining my map, achievements, and so on.

But I just can't believe I did almost all I could do and still I'm so far behind. I started this character with 5 days early access and today I am still lvl 43.

At least 2/3 of my time playing this game I have been more than 5 levels (even up to 10 levels) lower than the quest mobs I was fighting. It felt so frustrating to constantly fight monsters that either kill me really fast or I miss more often than hit. You'd think mobs of nearly 10 lvls higher would give me so much more xp that I would catch up in no time, but all I did was fall behind more and more.

Collect all the skyshards, complete all the solo/public dungeons, complete all the group dungeons, complete all the world boss encounters, complete all the dolmens, complete PvE quests and collect sky shards in Cyrodiil, look in your quest achievements and go back to revisit any zones where you didn't complete all the quests and complete them.

There is plenty of XP to be had, chances are you ended up skipping a lot of it.

try looking in your Journal press J ingame, and see if you have indeed completed the whole zone, world bosses, dolmens, quests, dungeons and so on.

Remember to actually kill stuff too, if you always try to sneak around, u lose lots of xp as well

Well, the good news that there is probably a lot left to go back and do. Craft some armor that gives big bonuses for exploration and head out. As mentioned, closing dark anchors is a good start, those offer +10% XP. Use your journal to track your achievements and go get them. You get XP for doing things to earn them. Go grab all those skyshards in the public dungeons since those offer many skill points. There is also a lot to do in Cyrodiil: Quests, skyshards, exploration, as well as PvP.

I have been noticing this too. I am only level 27 but all the rewards for the guests I'm doing are 2 levels higher than I can wear. I prefer to level by questing and don't like to grind my way up but am running out of quests that suit my level.

Yes, except for the argonian village southwest of the map (q got bugged, abandoned the quest, can't find where to retake it) and I haven't done all private dungeons (2-3 left).

That's another thing, skill points. I usually have like 10+ unused skill points and already invested more skill points than I need. I've started out with 1h + shield but once that hit around lvl 45 I switched to 2h and that's at 46 now too. So I spent a lot of points in 1h + shield that I'm not even using anymore.

I've started out with blacksmithing and woodworking (for shields), but after investing a few points in woodworking I stopped using that, so more points I don't use. And I don't need those points as I still have nearly 10 unused.

There's only a few ability slots, so why spend in more skills than you can ever use? Yes, I have the second weapon (bow) invested in as well. I don't need more profs than blacksmithing (almost all points maxed out) and there's only so many passive skills available.

So what's up with that? Can I sell some skill points?

If you don't want to use them I am not trying force you. I am just offering advice in a thread that stats with the word "Help." XD

Getting them will means you are doing something to get XP, which means you will get XP as long as you keep trying. On the other hand, you can no longer gain skill levels when you hit VR10, so leveling stuff up now might help later.

I can't suggest anything because I am level 41 and just entered The Rift in the Ebonheart Pact faction.

There is a lot of EXP locked up in those dungeons as well but the ones you missed at lower levels will not grant you the full amount anymore due to the level difference.

You are now stuck doing dailies in Cyrodiil till you can level up some more to get to the veteran ranks.

I honestly can't see how people can end up being under level when they enter or leave a region. When I enter a new region I always seem to be 3 levels higher than the mobs and when I leave I am always 3 to 4 levels higher than the mobs I am leaving behind.

As others have said, it's there.

Basically: scour the map! Do the anchors and the public dungeons, and chances are you'll find some quests you missed as well. And don't forget the Fighters and Mages guilds, either.

I was like 2 levels under the recommended when I entered Deshaan, the second ep zone (3Rd with tutorial) then I went back, did all the remaining quests that I have missed, grabbed all the skyshard, even went back to tutorial isle which I skipped at lvl 14ish and did everything, since then I also do everything and I am always 2-3 levels higher than the recommended. I entered The Rift at 39 with only 15-20% missing to 40 and I saw lvl 32 people running around.

Also, not doing group dungeons is a bad idea since all of them give at least 10-15% xp for the first completion.

My first couple characters I got to 43 or so and thought "I have finished the quests". Not so. I started using a map to collect all the skyshards (and thereby hit all the dungeons) in each zone before I leave. By doing so I find lots of quests I missed also. And I leave each zone properly leveled for the next. I do not grind mobs, just kill whatever is in my way.

Then you've skipped about 1/3 of the game. When I'd done all of coldharbour I was at level 48 so I only had to grind a bit to get to 50 (about 1 level since I was at 80% to 49). You've just skipped over a whole lot of quests, if you open your achievement section, you can see how many quests you've done in all the zones of your alliance. I'll bet that those numbers are low

I didn't craft or do any group dungeons. I did recognize grind spots and spent about half an hour grinding mobs when I ran into such spots. I got all the sky shards except in Coldharbour and completed most of the quests in the last three zones but not all. I noticed some quests don't show until you get right up on an npc. I was usually two levels above the zone I was in. Then would sometimes drop to even when going into a new area to level. I ended up V1 after the last main quest and still have a third of Coldharbour to do. Coming across areas with high xp mobs that spawn quickly and spending 15 to 30 mins grinding will keep you leveled and give you extra gold when you sell stuff.

I see no reason to grind veteran ranks as the work is not worth the reward to me. I don't pvp in this game. I've done other factions on alts so V Ranks would be repeating the quests for that and are scaled higher and give less rewards. Looks like no advance solo pve content in the future, oh well.

Have you gained the achievement for completing all the quests in each zone before moving on to the next? This is what I suggest. However at 43 going back and fixing all of that may be less beneficial than moving on to doing dungeons/closing anchors/crafting.

I have discovered that if I wait to complete the achievement(s) for my Sky Shard collection in a zone, until when I "think" I'm ready to move on to the next zone, I will more than likely run across quite a few quests that I have seemed to have overlooked picking up along my journey.

Aye. Just looking for blank areas on the map works too. Even after getting the location and quest achievements you can still usually find a quest or two buried in a corner of the map you've overlooked.

There seems to always be a thread like this and I don't understand what I've done so differently. I don't PvP. I have done only one group dungeon, which I did solo ~20 levels over the dungeon. I never finished questing in Shadowfen and I know I skipped 1/2 to 2/3 of The Rift quests. There are more anchors and world bosses that I've skipped than that I've completed.

I finished Coldharbour at level 49. I was above the level of my quests for about 90% of the game. I only rushed right at the end, when I unlocked Coldharbour, as I was eager to finish the main story.

I know this post isn't exactly constructive to the thread. I just don't understand when people say they've done everything they can and are 5-10 levels behind. Do you avoid mobs like the plague while running around? If you run out of quests but there are huge open spots on your map with no icons, do you check those areas out or just move on?

I was always 3 levels under the quests I was doing, but even so I ended up only half-a-level short which I easily got from finishing up quests I missed.

But anyway you should go back and re-check any quests you've deemed bugged and abandoned dulfy's quest guide might help a bit, the EP section is incomplete, but the other 2 factions and coldharbour are there. While I was going through quests I would encounter ones where I seemed to be the only one who couldn't do an objective, after watching others around me preform it just fine, and /reloadui and relogging or abandoning didn't help, I found that just leaving it doing some other quest and coming back to it caused it to function again.

Also to note the last harborage begins at VR1(level 50)

I have the other problem, I'm 42 and has just started Reaper Marsh.
I was underleveled then entering Grathwood as I skipped parts of Auridun having done it before and some quests was bugged, the next zones I did completely as in getting the quest achievement, all the anchors, bosses and dungeons.

I'm at lvl 49 in coldharbour and I know I skipped quite a few quests (didn't do a single one of the main quests; that one still hangs on discover the harborage

)

also haven't finished the mages guild or the fighters guild and have quite a few skyshards still to discover...
