Help, I finished the game at lvl 43

Hi, before you blame me for not doing enough quests etc., let me explain that I have done all quests I have ever come across besides group dungeons. I have done all main quests (except for the harborage quest line which probably only continues when I'm 50), I've done all side quests I've ever come across, and I have done as much exploring as I could.

Looking at my map shows all icons in white (saying I achieved this or that) with the exception of maybe 2-3 black ones remaining. I have not done many private dungeons and haven't done any group dungeons. I've played just a few hours of pvp and even grinded mobs for about 2 levels.

I cannot see any places I may have missed worth of another 7 levels. Since maybe level 20-25 I noticed I fell behind in level compared to the mobs. I arrived at Bangkorai where I received my first quest to kill a chief reachman, but they were all lvl 37 and up, while I was a mere level 29.

How can this be? What have I missed? I have not cheated anything? I did all of my quests in detail (killing more mobs than I had to).

After completing all of Bangkorai I was still only around level 38. 38!! That's basically the level I had to be to arrive at Bangkorai.

I have also done every quest on Stross M'kai and any other zone that seems accessible to a Covenant player.

So now I wonder: Am I the only one with this problem? And how do I go from here? Do I just kill another 70 million mobs to get to lvl 50? Anything I may have missed that could explain the large gap?

If you go to Cyrodiil the are dalies quest you can do there it don't matter what lvl your char are you can but i not 100% sure if gave pvp lvl or pve lvl sorry i just know it quest there i have not done myself :( but also if you are lvl 43 can could mostlike solo most low lvl group dungeon as well which should gave some exp.

Do Cyrodiil quests. Do PvP "kill 20 players" daily quest.

well this almost happened to me, i just know where the fault is for my part :p
The dark mane quest cant be completed that leads to several other quests.
but i did the simple thing and went to cyrodill in a campaign with almost no action at all, for AD volendrung works perfect for this, found a quest hub there and got my last 2 lvls so i could get the one that i needed to go to coldharbour, or just travel to a guildie\friend that already is in coldharbour and continue there,

and if someone says you cant get there without the quests say that to the constanst stream of bots that runs from the wayshrine to the first questgiver there. they are lvl 3 and still in prison outfits hehe

Did you skip Alik'r desert before Bangkorai?
I too think the Op has missed a zone. I outlevel the quests of a zone by chests/exploration/quests, and i even avoid unneccesary killing of innocent mobs. Im 40, just started a few quests in Bangkorai.
A tip is to check your Journal (J default) and press the achievements tab up in the right corner. Find the list for quests in each zone, and make sure you got the achievement för quests in a zone. I d think the achievement represents roughly 90ish percent of the quests in the zone. A good pointer for when you're "done" in a zone.
Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

Did you do the starter island? It too late now of course but that alone will give you the edge. On 3 characters now I've done the islands and have always stayed 1 to 2 level ahead by completion of a zone. As said, you need to be 45 to progress to cold harbour. You really must have missed loads and a good indication is looking at the quest achievements in your journal.
  • sevcik.miroslaveb17_ESO
This is strange. I have other problem I outlevel each zone before I enter it. I did k. roost, auridon, grathwood all for 100% including group dungeons. I open every chest I come across, do anchors just everything. Now I did around 80% of greenshade and Iam 34 and half level already. I am convinced that I will make 4 more levels before this zone is done.

I like the game a lot.

On my nightblade, i was level 37 after finishing all content up to and including Rivenspire. That means without touching either Alik'r desert or Bangkorai.

If you are mere 1 level higher after completing bangkorai, you must have either skipped a lot of quests, or skipped an entire zone on the way. You can get a pretty good estimate of how many quests you missed by looking up the achievements tab - there's an achievement for each zone, for instance "glenumbra quests" achievement is granted after completing 61 quests in glen. Check that - if the achievement tracker says 41/61 then you missed 20. (there are more quests than 61 in glen by the way, i completed 2 more after getting that achievement)

If i had to guess, i'd say you skipped the desert. I know that i used to believe Alik'r is the last zone before coldharbor simply because of the geographical 'flow' around the bay.

Yep - on a NB, i skipped Alik'r and went straight to Bangkorai to have some challenge.
On a DK, i skipped half of Stormhaven and whole of Rivenspire and went straight to Alik'r to have challenge(that one was fun, level 28 DK fighting packs of level 37 zombies :))

Also to note the last harborage begins at VR1(level 50)

Level 45. Unless there's some hidden quest. I finished the main story and was in the V1 area before 50, and I've gone back to the Harborage since. Nothing new.

lvl 50 one where you fight molag bal (kind of a spoiler, yet obvious), and afterwards get sent to veteran content

I can assure you that I was already in Daggerfall at 49, and dinged 50 there. That quest is directly in the chain of quests you get at 45. It does not require level 50.

This might explain why some level 40+'s are trolling lvl 15 pub dungeons. From how they were just killing everything, they were not mentoring. I always find myself over leveled for everything (a 17 fighting 15's in the 2nd zone thus far, had to stop to level up my resource mule to keep my mains geared.).

Anyways, I find I always need more points (crafting, passives, etc). Of course, if you coat-tail a lot (let other players do all the work on pub quests, dungeons, etc) then I can see folks not getting enough XP.

sounds like what happened to me except I skipped 1/2 of an entire zone. I can't remember which one but I beat the game when I was a 46/47. Went on to VR content, started doing the quests and decided to go back to Coldharbour because I felt like I was missing a lot of VR xp in the new area.

Went back to Cold and did everything I could, think I'm only missing 2 quests there, can't find'em. So I joined a zombie grinding group and leveled from 48-50.

I kind of did screw my self over a little bit by doing that, I'm almost completely done with the first VR area, missing 1 or 2 quests but all dungeons and world bosses are cleared and I'm about 80% on my VR1.

Not really sure what to do to get to VR2

I'm aware of what I can do to find out but I'm sure it was one of the lvl 30 zones, just can't remember the name and the server is down so I can't check. Would be pointless to go back now since I'm sure every mob is greyed out and offers no XP.

I think it was called Shadowfen or something like that. Not entirely sure.

I wasn't expecting that many reactions, but thank you all for the kind and civilized suggestion so far. I'm glad people aren't immediately insulting me, unlike other communities (ahem ... steam).

Anyway, I know there must be quests somewhere out there that I haven't found, but as I've explored most of the map I'll have to spend quite a while to re-explore everything to see if I missed a little corner here or there.

No, I have not skipped any zone. Yes, I've done Alik'r desert too, before going to Bangkorai. I went from Glenumbra to Stormhaven, Rivenspire, Stross M'kai, Alik'r, Bangkorai, Southern Bangkorai, Coldharbour.

The reason for Stross M'kai being after Rivenspire was because I was almost 10 lvls too low for Alik'r. I was hoping to gain some xp from it, but in the end the difference was maybe just 3/4th of a lvl. I did all of Stross M'kai.

No, I do not avoid mobs, I kill more than I should.

Many of you can't seem to believe how people like me are so far behind in lvl, but guess what, I can't believe the opposite. People saying they haven't even started the main story before hitting 50, how on earth could that be if I am only 43 and must really explore every tiniest corner of the map in search of maybe one or two more quests. I honestly swear I have explored as much as I could (except for dungeons) and have killed as much as I can whilst doing quests. I've done several pvp dailies already.

So I'm off to explore all of my maps to see what I may have missed. I'll also do the dungeons etc. Hopefully that'll get me closer to 50.

Thanks again for all the suggestions.

If you don't want to use them I am not trying force you. I am just offering advice in a thread that stats with the word "Help." XD

I'm sorry, it seems my message was interpreted differently than it was meant. I was not suggesting I didn't appreciate your advice. Definitely not, I appreciate it very much. I was just trying to explain that the skill issue is also something I don't seem to understand well. I fall so far behind in lvls, while others are above quest lvl. Everyone seems to be yearning for skill points, while I'm keeping skill points idle and even spent a whole bunch in unused skills. What am I not getting? How can people invest all of those skill points if there's only a few slots available to use at any one time? I even upgrade any skill point that can be morphed.

Go grab all those skyshards in the public dungeons since those offer many skill points.

That's another thing, skill points. I usually have like 10+ unused skill points and already invested more skill points than I need. I've started out with 1h + shield but once that hit around lvl 45 I switched to 2h and that's at 46 now too. So I spent a lot of points in 1h + shield that I'm not even using anymore.

I've started out with blacksmithing and woodworking (for shields), but after investing a few points in woodworking I stopped using that, so more points I don't use. And I don't need those points as I still have nearly 10 unused.

There's only a few ability slots, so why spend in more skills than you can ever use? Yes, I have the second weapon (bow) invested in as well. I don't need more profs than blacksmithing (almost all points maxed out) and there's only so many passive skills available.

So what's up with that? Can I sell some skill points? :)

Save them for the next batch of skill lines when more guilds come into play. I'm in the same boat as certain skills in the trees I use don't appeal.

This is strange, I'm have the exact opposite problem. I'm level 28 and just got to Greenshade, where everything starts out at level 24ish. It gets a little old 3 shotting every monster, I'm hoping mobs catch up to my level as I progress through GS.

Well, still I prefer to 3-shot mobs than to be 3-shotted by mobs. It's still more fun to kill fast than to die fast. There's no fun in constantly dying and running back for stupid simple mobs.

I've done a bunch of quests again now (maybe 25), and still I've only advanced no more than 1/4th of a level. I'm now just into 44. It took me a month to get one character to 44, now it'll take me another month to get those last 6 lvls.

You should be getting ~400 xp per mob you kill in Coldharbour. If it takes you a month to level (keep in mind that at 45 you unlock some more story quests) then it's your own fault.

I could grind from there to 50 in a day. It would be a long, boring day, but still one day. It will not take you a month.

Just keep in mind that you should not start the veteran zone early if you can help it. Veteran Points are completely separate from Experience Points and you will want to make sure you get all that you can going through mobs and quests the first time through. I went to the V1 area at 49, but after running around a bit and doing 5 quests or so I went back to Coldharbour and finished the rest of my level there.

When i started playing, i took the first quest i saw when i got to Daggerfall from Coldharbor. This sent me to Stros M'kai. I did all of it. Then i got sent to Betnikh. I did all of that as well.

When i returned to Daggerfall, i was level 8, almost level 9. That's a huge headstart compared to you starting it at level 2 or 3.

you could just farm the boss camps in coldharbour; should give you decent xp and a chance at decent loot to boot...

I have just hit level 40 on my main and have done about 2/3 of Bangkorai (I'm on to the southern half). I have been to evey public dungeon I can, done every area, got every single skyshard, got all the quest achivements for all previous areas. I must admit I am a little worried about running out of things to do. It's a long way until 50.

My second alt is level 26 and has done a fair bit of Greenshade already but in her case it was because she had to move on early to get round bugged quests in Auridon. I think I'm going to face a similar issue with her.

I skipped the last 30% of quests in the first zone because I had done them in beta and wanted to move on to next zone besides I was already lvl 16. By the time I got to the third zone, about 1/3 into the zone I stopped getting loot from the 25-26 mobs I killed and when I was offered to go to Skyrim early on I took it, leaving behind 2/3 of the zone undone.

Yet, I started Coldharbour at lvl 47 and by the time I could enter the dungeon I was 49.5 and only got one run in the dungeon with the finder because you can't sign up at 50.

The last 1/3 of the coldharbour zone I did as 50 without getting exp. Now I'm Veteran Rank 4 almost 5 and have just started on the third Veteran zone. VR3 mobs.

The best advice i can give anybody is "Kill everything on your way". Most people seem to either run from quest to quest, bypassing all mobs on the way, or they grind without doing quests.
I usually collect a few quests in an area, do lowest to highest and every time i come across a good farm spot i stay a while and grind for xp and loot.
Usually works in any mmo and seems to work in TESO.

Just because you dont see icons, doesnt mean theyre not there. Look on map and search for dark dots, usually buildings, if theres not an icon there, go to that place, chances are youll find quests.
Or look in achievements, quests tab, theres no way you gonna have all of them finished and only be 43.
