My EQ2 guild almost has an anti-voice chat rule. Several of our leaders are European and very self-conscious about their accents. One leader plays from work. I like to listen to NPR when I play. We all have reasons we don't use it or want to subject other guild members to it. Never had a problem that was caused by not having voice chat.
I just remember you expressing your fondness. I didn't think he was part of the forums. At least I didn't recall him posting or anything. But yes, that was whom I was referring. I meant nothing derogatory by dubbing the term little. I hope it wasn't taken as such. I apologize if it was.@señorcinco, which little friend? The Swede I keep talking about? Hes not on this or those forums, though hed lurk occasionally.
I don't care about their "plumbing", lol. I just want to expose the people that act like a chick and are really a guy.HandofBane wrote: »Then turn it off? But unless you are in a group, you should only be able to hear people that are NEAR you, like the say option, no more than a 5 meter radius or something like that. If you are in a group, obviously it should be game wide.
I dont want to hear people near me either.
Most in game chat has group, raid, guild channels and custom channels. No general channels.
Which is exactly why many people will not want voice chat ingame at all. Speaking from the experience of being in guilds with multiple females (last WoW guild was around 50%), the last thing most of them wanted was to deal with the *** who were more worried about what kind of plumbing they had rather than if they could play their class/character well.
I could say the exact same thing, but from my point of view. If you cant function in an mmo WITH voice, that's your problem. It would be as simple as turning it off. You wouldn't have to use it.HandofBane wrote: »Then turn it off? Also this.
Im female. My main is a male Nord. I prefer not announcing it.
And when games have it built in it becomes mandatory to pug.
No. If you cant fuctiin in a mmo without voice, thats your problem.

.. and it can't come quick enough. I have other things to do with my hands, like control my character. I don't want to stop and have to go through the process of typing out anything as the new player I want to interact with is... gone.
No 3rd party software cannot accommodate that, no matter how techy it has evolved.

Oh for the love of god, don't start a gender identity flame war. Just to make it clear before this even starts, I have no problem with anyone doing what makes them happy. End. But it does get aggravating when I am role playing and the person I was role playing with flirts with me and I find out its a 50 year old male that weighs 300 pounds. That's what I am talking about.Charbortion wrote: »
EVERYONE who plays starcraft semi pro or professionally uses voice chat in SC, lol. You are too busy using hotkeys too stop and type out strategies, lol.cucmw5ub17_ESO wrote: »Wow tried a voice chat briefly, and nobody I know even uses it anymore.
Starcraft allegedly has one, but again, who uses voice chat for starcraft?
Frankly quite glad more games dont have voice chat since most fps games have adolescent elementary school kids screaming in your ears.
Have you seen some of the people in zone chat while leveling? People don't even want to bother googling anything anymore, let alone read quest text or learn anything from the tutorial.
No. I do not think this game needs that. I don't want to have to listen to the dweebs in zone chat over my headphones as well.

people that are too lazy to type.
The two major voice apps (mumble and TS) are free, servers are cheap (or even free) and they're not restricted to a single game.
This is my main point as well. With an ingame VOIP, the targeted character doesn't even need to have a headset on. The second you call their name, they hear you. That response time cannot be mimicked with 3rd party.Solarstorm wrote: »that's very inconvenient and non-homogenous. TBH, there's better things devs can be spending their time on. The two major voice apps (mumble and TS) are free, servers are cheap (or even free) and they're not restricted to a single game.people that are too lazy to type.
I've heard plenty of good reasons for people not wanting to use voice comms. This isn't one of them.

I really hope they add group voice chat, particularly for use in Cyrodiil, but also for dungeon/questing groups. Typing just takes too long and is easily overlooked.
