VampiricByNature✭✭✭✭On Oct 23rd our team concluded our TTT prog. We did get the title with a slow time and careful strat. This is my third TTT and absolutely the most strenuous. I really love the pace of this trial and it's a trifecta I would love to go for again if they ever fix it. I am so disappointed this isn't fixed because this is the best entry level trifecta for players to build their confidence.
To all those people who may be going for this trifecta: DO NOT FEEL BAD. You are fighting a mechanic that is already difficult with a broken tool kit. You CAN do this! The RNG involved in working around this broken mechanic will prepare you for the rng involved in other trifectas. Some of it truly is just farming the instance.

The issue is with the targeting of purge and is not specific to vHoF. It's just that purge isn't really used much in PvE outside of vHoF.
Purge has a 6-person target cap, and the bug is that it will not prioritize players who actually need the purge. So the same 6 people will get purged while the others will not.
The workaround to this is to divide into two groups of 6. Tank, healer, and 4 DDs, and burn the bosses in parallel instead of sequentially. This will completely bypass the issue of the target cap.

Just chiming in here, my TTT group couldn't continue cause of this issue, and seems there is still no fix for this months later? That trial was already unpopular and now nobody would dare run it.
Here are some side by side dispels of venom injection;
the left is the day b4 u35 patch and there were no issues and killed the bosses no problem
the right is the day the patch dropped... You'll notice the fight times are nearly the same, but the right did not clear and was wipe after wipe, along with how many dispels missed compared to the day before.

(Or are the logs mistaken in showing that?) Are the devs aware of that bug too? If it gains selective targeting but can still purge things it shouldn’t, then that fix won’t be very useful.
I hope they fix the whole thing while they’re at it.1 -

AmishDefector✭✭✭It makes sense since it is an AoE that its not technically targeting but my understanding is that its supposed to prioritize removing negative effects FROM ALLIES within that AoE by 'threat level' if you will.
DoTs>Snares and immobalizes>defensive negative effects (breach and defile)>offensive negative effects (maim and cowardice)
Please note i dont know the actual priority order here or if this is true. But the venom inject on an ally that can kill said ally should be higher than say major vulnerability on the enemy boss. It used to work and since update 35 it hasnt.

It does remove effects from allies and only allies. At no point was it affecting enemies--that is a misconception resulting from log misinterpretation.
The problem, as I stated earlier, is that it affects only 6 allies, and the target priority is broken in U35 so that it only affects the same 6 allies and everyone else will not get purge.
In any case, tomorrow morning is the U36 patch, which I've been told should have a fix for purge's targeting. So we'll see soon enough if it's fixed.Nightfighters ― PC/NA and PC/EU

We was recently in vHoF and i can say for whole group that was pain. Not only Purge broken. Whole trial was broken.
Purge bugged at first boss, then teammates killed via unknown spells from unknown invisible sources. At 4. boss half of the area bugged where dind't worked abilities, attacks, block, taunt. Just big lol. And final boss fight weitd too.Really sorry for my english2 -

In what way do you understand that it will be fixed? As in the ability will be changed to smart-target those with the highest number of negative effects? IIRC, one (set?) buff ability was recently changed to feature smart-targeting behavior (in that case it was prioritizing allies without the buff present rather than simply selecting the 6 nearest targets), so perhaps this is an emerging precedent for buff and buff-like skill behavior?0 -

That was the bug. Cast it once, and players 1-6 get purged. 7-12 are not purged. Cast it again, 1-6 get purged again, and 7-12 are still unpurged. Cast purge 10 times, and players 1-6 get purged 10 times while 7-12 are still waiting to get their turn.That you need cast it more than once?

Lol tbh I havent bought crowns BECAUSE purge is broken and we've had this thread talking about it since 9/7, it has 3.6k views and still no response from anyone at Zos. So you're not wrong.
My guess is they cant say its busted because then people would exploit it in pvp or something silly. So im hoping code is right and it is silently fixed in update 36.2 -

Curse eater can work as sort of a bandaid but it doesn't change the skill being broken unfortunately. We are working around the issue, but its not just that its not getting rid of the poison dot, its also purging debuffs from the bosses, including major breach, minor breach, and taunt. The skill seems to be working elsewhere, so its something that needs to be evaluated unfortunately.
As a MagDk healer, curse eater is one of my favourite sets and so I know how it functions well… however, it doesn’t work currently in vhof. It comes under the same criteria as purge, and is therefore also not working correctly to target only those affected. It also doesn’t proc again for a set amount of time, and therefore can’t even be used over and over until you hit the right people… so it’s even less effective than a normal purge.

We've been using a combination of curse eater, the cro purge pad (on the OT, so uptimes aren't great but we're working with what we've got), 3-4 templars running running ritual AND a healer using purge. Its taken all of that to be able to get that boss clean, and to our credit we have that boss clean, but my god its exhausting and its exhausting because we're working AROUND the game, not with the game.
