this event is turning into hell

Can't lay an aoe down, can't pull my standard down without an idiot "tank" (or even a real one) pulling the boss way out of it and across the room. I swear some of them do it on purpose. I leave immediately when that happens, I know the rest of the dungeon will just go downhill with that incompetence. This is why I hardly bother with this event.

I've only been using my tank for any pugs during the event so at least I know that role is semi-competent.

I'm PUGing a lot this event (in all 3 roles) and I have mostly good experiences, maybe because I don't have any big expectations from other people :D

After dozens of runs in many, many different dungeons I had maybe only two "bad" experiences. First one I was random tanking with my main tank and there was some base game normal dungeon. Healer was level 10 so level of enemies was not very high :D but both DD's were, well... very bad. They made something like 4-6k dps on bosses (not each one, but in total!) but I was patient and just tanking. I could change quickly my setup to make some more damage but I thought that they won't learn anything if they will be carried, so I just carried on with my part of job. Best part was after 20 minutes of exhausting damaging another boss, when one of dd's asked if he got buffs, because damage is so low :D Yeah, I had my buffing sets and skills, healer as level 10 probably not, but it was sweet and naive to believe that any buffing could change anything in this situation :P

It was more fun than bad expierience, but thing which annoys me most are elitist tanks. You queue as dd sometimes for 15-20 minutes and they left dungeon for many stupid reasons. For example last time in vet Scalecaller we had quite good, but not perfect team. We killed first trolls boss in first try, and then in second boss we were wipeout with boss 15% health left, because of orbs (accidently get to close to them, it happens), so tank immediately left. DPS was good enough and healer was not fake, but elitist tank queued for PUG and had expectations for perfect team, not giving a chance for even second attempt... I don't mind when they left if team is really weak and had little chances to complete dungeon in reasonable amount of time - I get it. But being *** and using advantage that they can queue quickly for next thing is just really low and happens too often. Once I had situation when tank rushed through mobs, he dies (in normal DLC dungeon), wrote something in chat about fake healer and left. Healer was ok and we finished whole dungeon without any tank :D

I hit "screw this, I'll just run solo" point last night. It's not a bad way to level companions.

I've been wondering if soloing dungeons puts an extra strain on the servers as far as having a lot of individual instances to manage, so I suspect that grouping with 3 other players is definitely preferred by ZOS on that account.

But I worry that I'm too inexperienced with specific dungeons, as well as too "weak" as far as DPS, to run most dungeons with an average group. Plus, when I do run a dungeon with a group it often turns into a situation where I'm running blindly through an unfamiliar dungeon just trying to find, and keep up with, the group. Rather than feeling like I'm going to be dragging down the other players, I'd rather just solo the dungeons I know I can handle (on normal), and attempt an unfamiliar one every so often to see if I can add it to my list of the ones I can solo.

Thing is if you get lost and they don't wait or help that's on them. I blew up at a guildy and left a group couple days ago on a pledge because he was sped running, one of our guys was lost and he screwed it up so the guy couldn't finish his dungeon quest.

Then I waited fifteen minutes, went back in and had a similar experience with two newbs getting completely lost and even falling to their deaths twice. But this time me and the other vet were actually paying attention- we went back and found them and guided them through it.

Decent people will be patient, help you find your way through and accept you may be a little lacking in the damage department. The speed runners and the selfish jerks? Screw 'em. Don't get embarrased. You're not wasting their time. They're wasting yours.

I don't know but why is the game mixing high cp with very low cp and sometimes below lvl50 players ?
The queue doesn't sort players by CP/level, I've gotten groups of varying CP numbers and levels for years. It's always like that.
    Character List [RP and PvE]:
Stands-Against-Death: Argonian Magplar Healer - Crafter
Krisiel: Redguard Stamsorc DPS - Literally crazy Werewolf, no like legit insane. She nuts

Slondor: Nord Tankblade - TESified verson of Slenderman

I'm usually a big advocate against speedrunners, fake roles, etc in Dungeons but during this event I get that people wanna farm to get gear sets and motifs that they have been trying for years to get. So during this event I'm totally fine with it and I have my templar tank specced as a tanky dps so I can speed run with then. Durinf all other times of the year I don't like it. Here, just accept it and run with them. Get the fastest loot.

Fun fact, the random dungeon rewards and undaunted rewards only require the last boss to die. So you can skip all other adds and bosses just to get the final. We were completing some dungeons in under 2 minutes the other day.

If fake tanks and fake healers are such an issue for you, just make a tank and/or a healer and queue as that role. Then you'll know for sure there will be a true tank or healer in the group.

I run a true tank and queue's are instant and runs are never a problem for me.

3 cp2k and one cp150 in vet random dungeon...
I don't see the problem with a low cp person in a vet dungeon as cp does not necessarily mean skill. A 2k cp person could've gotten their cp PvPing while a cp 150 could be purely leveling through dungeons. I know it means they won't have the cp for max gear but that may be their way of leveling.

I have noticed this seems to be worse during the event somehow. People are going faster than ever and I can barely keep up at times. I understand why though... farming those double last boss drops does that to people. If it becomes a problem I do not hesitate to call them out on it though.
    Xarc wrote: »

Normal doesn't teach mechs if the dps is high enough. Vet is a good place to learn them.

I haven't tried non DLC pledges during the event but if this happens I usually just mention HM in chat and die. Since I haven't seen this happen personally during the event I'm not sure how well it'd work though.

The event seems to be more geared towards doing as many dungeons as fast as possible. Once I got into that I started really enjoying it.

Check out my thread on speed caps in my sig. They arent going faster than they have in the past, but its definitely easier than it used to be to get to top speed. Things Like Celerity in the red CP, Steeds Blessing in the green CP, generally more medium armor on DPS, Generally larger stam pools with people running sugar skulls, and sets like FG and VO make it pretty easy to get close to the speed cap between pulls.

All it really takes is Sprint, Major Expedition (VO or FG), Celerity and Steeds Blessing, and you are capped out of combat. Because FG and VO give ME on kills, it generally means that between pulls you are speed capped.

Now to be clear, I think it is generally poor form to just sprint to the end of the dungeon and leave everything alive in your wake, but I dont find that to nearly as prevelant as the forums suggest. I do, however, think its wise to build your self to keep up with a group that is on the move.

My wording was a bit poor sorry. I know about the speed cap I just have never noticed people going so fast in dungeons before. It makes me wonder if people built for speed to farm normals for the event. I have major expedition, celerity, and I sprint which is why I'm surprised it's harder to keep up all of a sudden because I'm usually faster than the group. Granted, on my tank I also have bracing anchor but it's never been an issue before and iirc I've noticed this on other roles as well.

I do not understand. If someone is having a poor experience using the GF to find people to run dungeons with, why do they keep asking the GF for people to play with?

It is easily solved by forming the group before queueing and gives the player forming the group a level of control that no developers can provide. It works amazingly well.

Continuing to do something the same way and expecting a different result does not make sense, so try something different.

I believe that doing random vets during Undaunted event is far too risky: I'd rather avoid a vet DLC with 3 strangers. I've been doing random normals with my real tank and, for the most part, it's been going well. Yes, of course someone quit at once upon loading into Castle Thorn and Lair of Maarselok. Yes, of course plenty of times I've had to sprint to catch up with a Speedy Gonzales. Yes, of course I got fake healers, including a Speedy one. Nevertheless, the dungeon being on normal means the run can usually be completed, even with 3 people, and in less time, too.

After doing the daily random I pick specific DLC dungeons to run for fun, gear and the occasional antiquities lead. It's been great to shake the dust off my tank and visit some beautiful and interesting places like Depths of Malatar or Moongrave Fane. Devs did a pretty good job at many of these, LoM being a memorable example. In other words, I'm enjoying the event so far.

I have pathetic DPS, can't count on a roll dodge working, being able to get my ultimate off or interrupting at the right time. I only solo since I won't subject others to my limitations.

But with my bear, I've been able to solo Eden Hollow 2 (though I don't quite know how since the last boss was at 500k then dead both times), Banished Cells 2 (spent lots if time floating while bear took care of boss), City of Ash 2 (took very long, but by the time I finally killed the ash titan, I really wanted it dead) and I think I could have done Spindle 2 since I was playing with a brand new player who spent 90% of the time dead (and who still won't focus on the adds instead of the boss, so he's level 40 and still mostly dead).

The biggest disappointment for me is I have had time for only about 12 dungeons during the event solo. Out of those 12 dungeons, 4 have either glitched with doors not opening after killing the bosses or straight out crashed out of the dungeons. That is my hell.

Yes, I've also soloed Elden Hollow II, just last week for the first time ever.

The other day I finally managed to get past the Bloodspawn(?) boss in Spindleclutch II using Bastian and my two Sorc combat pets, but then I died on the next boss. I'll have to try again another time.

Crypt of Hearts II has a Spider Daedra boss who has an inescapable mechanic that kills you unless there's another player with you who can free you from it.

I haven't tried those others yet, but the few DLC dungeons that I've tried also had inescapable killing mechanics which make them impossible for me to solo. I'm hoping there are some which can be soloed, but I've only tried a few so far.

ok 1st, i have some guilds. I can do dungeons with guildmates but not more than 3 or 4 with guild mates per day, in best case.
Next, i'm playing all roles but the worst experience is as a DD for sure.

I've seen many times a tank leaving at the begining of a dungeon after 10min waiting as a DD, just because maybe the dungeon is hard or because there was a low cp in the group, i dont know.
This kind of behavior is rude when you're trying to enjoy this event, which could be fun honnestly, but i made this thread to say it is while events like that that you can see all the issues of this game.

When you 're doing dungeons with many chars, the little penalty for leaving a group is nothing since you just log with another char and queue for another dungeon. So this is legit to understand people who leave when they understand their group mates don't know the mechs, or don't have any experience (exemple: low dps), or fake tank, etc.
Of course, normal dungeons arent really concerned since you mostly can solo it anyway & carry the pugs.

Never understood why people get upset with other players who don't live up to their expectations in random dungeons groups. I see players almost throwing tantrums like children. I hate the word "carry". It is incredibly derogatory. Seriously, if anyone thinks they are just too awesome to play with a random team, don't do it. And if they believe they are just too far above it all to help other players with mechanics (mechanics presumably someone at some point taught them), don't go in the dungeon with players you don't know. I am sure players who hate to "carry" players would just be far happier in a nice elitist clique somewhere.

I think you misunderstand the concept of 'fake tank'.

In normal dungeon zergs you only need to bring 9k penetration and keep the boss fairly still. That's it, nothing more is needed for you to transcend the border between fake and real tank.

I love this event - my new Breton Nightblade (I had an Imperial one for the 2 other roles) has been focusing on healer and doing 20k dps while sometimes tanking the bosses but it's a bit silly that the person who queues as a tank lacks a taunt. Not so much needed as annoying someone cheats the system for their personal selfishness more than anything.

IKR... But not knowing DLC mechanics isn't all that strange. I mean it can be hard to find people for it even in guilds but most of all if you're a new subscriber prior to the event you would never have done that before. On that note I and/or others in a random DLC Dungeon group quickly explain it - at least after a first wipe.

I think the idea of fake tank or healer is pointless, if we cannot also impose arbitrary rules on dps.

I also think it's pointless to complain about the quality of players we get matched up with in a group finder.

If I want to tackle more challenging content I ask friends and guild mates, I dont expect random ppl to live up to whatever expectations I set for a specific piece of content.

A player should be capable of doing every single dungeon they could possibly enter into through the random dungeon queue.

The minimum expectation of the random queue is that the players doing it can complete the content. If you cannot complete every dungeon in the queue, without being carried through it, or you haven't done every dungeon in the queue available to you, you have zero business being in the queue.

The point of the queue is to fill roles for players who are queuing to individual dungeons. If you cannot provide that assistance, you are wasting a slot in the random queue, and wasting players time when you end up in a dungeon you cannot do.

Normally, I would just go and do one solo if the pledge was one I could solo. For the event, I have been using the group finder. Maybe a 5~10 min wait time as a DPS (which is a lot faster than non-event times). I have been having a fairly good time.

I recall one instance where we were doing Vet Elden Hollow I. One player crashed on a boss. Another player wanted to progress but the last (I think the tank) said no cause we needed four people due to it being vet and there not being enough damage. All while someone kept trying to kick the player that had crashed (I never voted and it still got denied). The player came back online, the tank asks about their build. Got no reply so they just up and left. The three of us continued and completed the dungeon (non-hard mode) with only one wipe on the last boss. I guess we did have the needed damage after all...

My favorite was the random Vet Volenfell. We were going through at a fast pace. Get to the final boss trio and wiped on hard mode but only after I rolled the wrong way and got caught in an attack. Restart hard mode, one goes down, the one who tries to revive them gets killed. The third tried to revive while I am trying to get the boss off their back but I am damage dealer with no taunt and they go down too. With about 90% of their health remaining, I end up soloing all three hard mode bosses. Got the speed run achievement that day!!! Yes, I could have wiped and we restarted again but when the others died faster the second time, I just thought "screw it, lets see how long I can last".

There are the few times where it seems that I joined a pre-made duo who knew what they were wanting to do but didn't bother to communicate to the rest. It doesn't take long to realize that they are wanting to run ahead to certain choke points or cut out certain bosses. Communication, however, is still nice.

When I was wanting to do the quest, I wanted a group that would go slow and let me hear the dialog and grab all the bosses and lore books along the way and I would do it on normal. But after that, I just roll with it. Some groups struggle more than others. Sometimes I am the one that is struggling and other times it is someone else. It really depends on the dungeon and the group make up.

All that to say, you never know about the people you team up with. The one with the "worst dps ever" could very well be the one that stays alive to revive you or finish off the boss.

With all fake tanks, fake healers,
3 cp2k and one cp150 in vet random dungeon...
and people who want to rush, when other are lost behind
and people in vet DLC dungeon who have no idea about mechs
and people who want HM for key when other are rushing last boss...

omg is it only me or this event is really turning into disappointment and frustration ?

It's due to the "play as a fake tank, or fake healer" endeavour.
