Or we could just play ESO less and find games that engage in less predatory marketing strategies.

"If I pay nothing and can't access everything it's predatory marketing"

There was a free eso+ week recently and I used it to get access to the blade of woe and thieves guild for thieves troves ( amongst other things) on my 2nd account. These things remain with you even after eso+ expires. That feels quite generous to me

Not true for companions and antiquities.

pvp is part of the base game? Yes. If you bought the base game for 5.99 during the quake sale from say Steam, you could play pvp with it, go to cyrodil with a level 10 toon and conceivably become emperor...

You missed point of my post. I focus on understanding, what make OP do their post. A lot of debater in this thread ignore OP and look for way to discard it. Such debate is however very barren, because one side don`t read, what other side posted.

    PvP - Recruit.
    PvE - Dragon food
RPG - A guy who thought, that he can defeat daedric prince, yet guards still chase him off when he accidentally touches some object during daily writs.

Personally, I have a hard time imagining that "oh no, I might miss 15 seals today because I don't have DLC X" could actually work as "pressure" to buy said DLC. It's just some seals.

I skip daily and weekly endeavors all the time, for reasons as minor as "eh, that seems inconvenient" or "time to complete that isn't worth ___ seals". I certainly skip tasks that are in playstyles I don't enjoy. So the idea of feeling "marketed at" due to a task being in a DLC just seems strange to me. So you skip a task, big deal. /shrug

There was a time back in 14 when i woulda been miffed at having to leave cyro todo them and would have wanted at least 3 in cyro! These are the things they try to balance and catering 100% to the free to play is just not a viable business strategy. they have to make everyone happy at least sometimes!

He's saying that, once you've scryed up a Mythic item, it's in your sticker book and doesn't need to be scryed again. So the fact you've lost access to Scrying doesn't matter.
(of course, that ignores all the other stuff that isn't Mythic items, and any ones added afterwards. And Scrying endeavors or event tasks.)

    ---
But MMOs have "paywalls" all the time. And it's worse in the ones that increase the level cap with expansions - don't buy the expansion, and get locked out of endgame & pvp, because all the people doing those are 5-10 levels higher than you, with vastly better gear.

I am sorry, but I am having a hard time becoming upset with the concept of zos incentivizing players to buy their products.

Are chapters and dlcs supposed to come with absolutely no unique content for them? Is zos supposed to discourage people to buy their products?

If your not going to put yourself in a position to access all of the content, don’t act upset that you don’t have access to all of the content.

What Kiralyn said @SizanLopkniht . If we're only caring about the items that actually give you an edge, the mythic items, those get stuck in your sticker book.

You can earn a Transmutation station for free doing master writs and spending writ vouchers at the writ voucher vender. I've acquired all 3 of my stations this way.

Then stick the station in a home, which can be acquired through gold or for free, and then use 25 transmute crystals to reconstruct the mythic as many times as you want on any character you want as long as the character doing the reconstruction has a trait researched for that item's type. Takes no time to research your first trait.

Congrats, you have the mythic now forever, and if you wait for the next free ESO+ time, whenever that may be, you can then go searching for more mythics you might not own on the character you last did the scrying and excavating on. Only really need one character at max since leads are account wide, and they'll go out and acquire the mythics for the sticker book which is also account wide.

First we have to agree on terms. PAYWALL has always had a specific meaning. Clearly you may not get the best experience or your ideal play of some content is in dlc areas and you have no dlcs but as there exists pvp and pve content that exists outside of dlc then there is no paywall. Content can be completed outside of dlcs such that you need not have dlcs.

I don't play eso on friday nights or saturday days. when i come back on sat night before the 2am i think it is the reset time in usa edt, i don't always make the endeavors daily.

But now the weekly, it started on monday at 2am edt early monday morning usa time. by monday afternoon, without even ltrying to i had complated the weekly.

I think OP is way off base. I have seen nothing to convince me otherwise. All objective evidence that exists in observable reality, so far as i call tell, clearly show no paywall in existence with endeavors.

For your suggestion to be valid a player would have to do nothing except level up scrying and excavating, then get super, super lucky enough to get all the leads for the mythics in just the few days of the free ESO+.

What you're suggesting is essentially impossible.

You have 30 days to dig up leads. Just get them around the time the free plus usually drops and then dig them up when you have the free plus.

Free ESO+ only lasts 3-5 days. Then you can't scry or excavate anymore.

Thats the way it goes. BASE game (and any PURCHASED DLCs) are Free To Play.
They have never said the whole game is Free To Play.

Same with Jewelry Crafting - need Summerset. I'm not even sure if you get Summerset with ESO+ even. Pretty sure the last time my 'extra' accounts had Plus for a month because of an event they didn't get Summerset but that was awhile ago. I have since bought Summerset when it was on sale for those accounts.

Some players always seem to forget that it's a BUSINESS.
Of course they will pull strings to try to get you to buy the DLC to access certain things. Scrying and excavating was a major addition to the game, like jewelry. No, they are not going to give it away, they are going to let you have little tastes.
    That's marketing.

So buy it, or make do with binging as much as possible on free weekends. That's it. Can't have everything the way you want it and it doesn't make ZoS bad.

As another poster said, I think it's great that if you play DB and TG during a Free+ weekend you still get to keep and use those skill lines once the free time is over.

Just want to chime in about the summerset thing.

I started playing in July, and decided to get ESO+ a little bit later, and I have access to everything BUT the Necrom Chapter.

So, I have access to Thieves Guild, Jewelry Crafting, Antiquities, Psijic portals, Dark Brotherhood, Tales of Tribute etc..

I would assume that the free trials of ESO + would also give access to those DLCs though as said, it would be difficult to level things up sufficiently in a week, unless you were *really* dedicated.

My main gripe with the Endeavors is some of them need to be clearer, I saw a 'play a tribute match' and thought 'Great! I am doing my dailies' only for it to not count, because it meant a tribute match against another player, not NPC.
