.. and it can't come quick enough. I have other things to do with my hands, like control my character. I don't want to stop and have to go through the process of typing out anything as the new player I want to interact with is... gone.
No 3rd party software cannot accommodate that, no matter how techy it has evolved.
Why would speed be an issue? It's the fact of having to stop one thing and do another in lieu of doing two at the same time.180 wpm typing speed is nothing to be sorry about.
That same burden is mirrored to ones like myself that are plagued with aging and all of it's hardships. When the disabled catch hell for being unable to use a feature thats supposedly optional, its become a mandatory crutch.
I see. So you get all of your info in before you fight and abandon the chat in combat?I have trouble reading the chat box during combat. Hence, discussed beforehand.
Thats called "know your role." I can sympathyze, but I cant advocate a system that will become a mandatory crutch for the lazy.

I cannot put a label on others just because they choose to play different than me. People that play in similar aspects will find each other. I just want to play with those like minded individuals the same as you play with typists. I disable my chat window as it's not a viable option for me.I just cannot support a built in feature that will become mandatory by lazy people that dont want to type.
If I want a fat guy telling me what to do in voice chat, I will record my own voice and listen to it.
Please don't put this in it will become mandatory to use for anything in-game.

A Welshman, a Tuscon-born hispanic, and two South Carolina gentlemen of backwoods persuasion walk into a Teamspeak channel.... But seriously, that was what I got to filter through with one of my old PvP guilds, made more fun with hearing loss in one ear. While, yes, voice comms can make things a bit faster in some cases, in others it can cause massive issues trying to sort out what is being said behind all the accents in channel - made worse with us only having two servers, putting everyone in this hemisphere on one potential voice-chat collective.
Edit: apparently the forum filters out people with necks colored red.
I larp. I dont need to RP with voice chat in game.
Those that dont know whats expected can learn from text too. I have no issues explaining things.

You have your source of communication in-game. I do not and I can assure you, my friend... it's not form being lazy.

I get it if you don't want to show you're female or you have an embarrassing voice. A lot of women don't speak in MMOs because the nerdy fellas get a bit excited. I can understand that. I've also noticed that, in gaming in general, women tend be able to type and fight at the same time which we males don't do very well and then we try to read it and die.
There is a lot of myth about the female capacity to multi-task but there is also some truth. And texting while playing is one of the truths IMO. I'm shocking at it. I'm not lazy. I can type and die. Or I can live and not type.
Solution: turn your mic off. Many people don't want to or can't speak (make noise etc). You can still listen. If they're annoying - leave.
That said, with the current playerbase in ESO I would NEVER turn it on in a pug. I played LOTRO, and whilst full of weird nerds, they were decent and mostly easy to get along with. The sort of stuff I see in PVE zonechat in ESO makes me want to bring up my lunch hence I usually turn it off.
I can't work out what I'm voting for here. Candy I think.
You are quite welcome. I remember you from the beth forums and your little friend. There is no need for people to get upset and be a complete lunatic when someone has another opinion from them. I think most assume the position of feeling compelled to try and convince the other party(s) to take their side.Of course, we will have to agree to disagree. Thank you for not being an arse, and I apologize if I sounded like one.
HandofBane wrote: »Then turn it off? But I think that group, raid, guild channels, and custom channels is also a good idea, I just would like a general one as well, you could simply turn it off. Then I can finally tell if that female elf is actually female, lol, or not.I am all for in game voice chat. But unless you are in a group, you should only be able to hear people that are NEAR you, like the say option, no more than a 5 meter radius or something like that. If you are in a group, obviously it should be game wide.
I dont want to hear people near me either.
Most in game chat has group, raid, guild channels and custom channels. No general channels.
Which is exactly why many people will not want voice chat ingame at all. Speaking from the experience of being in guilds with multiple females (last WoW guild was around 50%), the last thing most of them wanted was to deal with the *** who were more worried about what kind of plumbing they had rather than if they could play their class/character well.
