Funny. And btw im eso + free since many years and proud of it. Paying even more for the lag production is absurd (lets see how long this posts lasts).

I'd just like the changes to make sense...for instance, this accessibility change reduces access...sorc mines were never OP....DoTs in PvP are already too weak...and so on...

Honestly not me. The past couple years have been quiet in terms of DRASTIC changes that the community has disliked so vocally. The Scalebreaker patch was the last huge change in DPS and gameplay that for the most part got reversed in Dragonhold. I can’t say I was shocked after seeing changes coming after such a long quiet period. At least they’re not waiting several months while it’s on live and nor ignoring PTS feedback until the next major patch this time around.

I hit change fatigue somewhere in 2018 when I realized I didn't want to keep grinding for new gear.

Then in 2019-20, Warframe started their Nightwave system (think Weekly Endeavors) and broke my "fear of missing out" button by mashing on it too hard. I got burned out and took a healthy break from that game.

But now that I've seen the signs in one game, its hard to ignore when ESO starts causing those same signs. The result is that I've largely tuned out of their meta and combat changes and kept on playing my non-meta builds in non-competitive/high end content.

I used to play much more competitively in PVP, but now I don't. Part of that's because my guild left due to performance. Part of that's because I'm unwilling to subject myself to even more change fatigue and risk of burnout by chasing mythic items that will make me more competitive for three months before they get nerfed. I'm definitely not willing to do the PVE cycle of grinding for new gear and learning a new rotation only to grind/learn a new set the next update.

Ironically, change fatigue makes me much less likely to engage with the powerful mythic items and gear that ZOS uses to sell their new content. It's just so badly balanced that I actively avoid picking them up. Buying a Chapter for its gear makes me feel like the quote "there's a sucker born every minute." I might buy them for other reasons, but not the badly balanced gear.

It's not change fatigue. It's fatigue of the same things being tried and then no lessons being learned. Change for the better is always welcome.

I don't have change fatigue, I have complete *** change exhaustion. Three years ago, when we were still doing the podcast, I was suffering from change fatigue, since then it's metastasized.

Not change fatigue exactly - but really not liking having to re-apply Champion Points. I do hope this doesn't have to happen too often - although it's moot point I guess, since you can only have 4 items on your Champion Bar.

Khajiit is fatigued. This one was fatigued after Elsweyr - remember it clearly. The "big update" that nerfed the 5-piece NMA bonus. There were other changes too, but this one just remembers that. Since then, khajiit has had it, and has ceased to try to relearn.

Changes to the combat system of any game end up feeling so discordant, especially when they are so obviously arbitrary and subject to continuous further arbitrary change, like they have been here for years. This one is at the stage now with ESO where he just tries to ignore these sweeping changes to what in effect is the fundamental physical reality of the game.

    Not all change is bad.

We loved the stickerbook and quest markers for writs, the new content and new zones, while not quite as good as some of their pre-Covid stuff have been good and the new trials have been excellent, companions and card game, while not exactly my cup of tea, have been largely popular.

Giant sweeping balance changes, that are directly opposite previous giant sweeping balance changes? Highly unpopular, and for good reason. Change needs to feel like we are moving forward, gaining something worthwhile, and refining previous ideas.

Making light and heavy attacks both scale from your highest stats while releasing content with your highest dps check yet and then a couple of months later turning around and removing ALL scaling from light and heavy attacks and nerfing damage is just poor planning, confusing, and overall bad practice.

From perspective of a player that do follow the changes and creates build videos, my change fatigue from this patch is higher than from any patch created before. Even hybridisation wasn't as bad (and it was bad).

Like, you do balance swings every 3 month. It takes like 1 month or so to grind new gear, experiment and make something decent. Now you start recording some gameplays, make a vid or two, and new PTS changes come up saying that your vids are outdates. No reason to release any new videos until patch hits. No reason to even showcase 4 new builds I didn't show, it's destroyed next patch anyway.

Worse, that I don't see any reason for those changes. They break almost all of existing builds without introducing any interesting interactions or variety, they reduce variety because the changes nerf certain skills out to the unusable state.

*shrug, I’ve alpha and beta tested so many games over the decades, most of the big name games including ESO. I’m pretty light on my feet. And been raiding in Destiny 2 the last couple of quarters - which serrrrriously reboots you once a quarter. It is tiresome, yes,

But my contempt for zos is sourced from its leadership more than just “change”, generally. I don’t have an issue with “devs”, having been one and led developers for many years.

My disgust is with the leadership just under the suits. Just plain awful.

This is what happens when you add more complexity (mostly via items) to a game than your QA team can handle.

From a player point of view, yeah it's tiresome even if we understand that they're just trying to play catch up to the messes they create.

Change is fun and good mate I dont want a stale game, however the changes with ZOS oh boy yes they have been more bad than good. They keep changing stuff and the community way in advance warning this wont work better to try it this way, ZOS ignores that feedback to then after 3 months do what the community said they should have done in the first place. That cycle most be incredible embarrassing

Totally not. I have fatigue of the ppl screaming because it is a change, no matter if the change brings good or bad.
I'm actually pretty happy to have a new PvP meta every 3 months, but not when it's due to massive damage nerfs and deleting entire builds or playstyles. Tank metas in this PvP are extremely boring.

The sad thing really is that the type of changes they do just keeps piling up before they actually get done with their balance passes.

Maybe they should finish a round before they turn the entire game upside down again without addressing even the most apparent side effects.

yeah I am getting general game fatigue, and i only have a little more than 2 years in. I can still have fun, but i also lose so much time to trash activity. I want to play pvp at a competitive level without having to sink a ton of time into inventory management [which is still a headache even when i opt in to ESO+, which is among several reasons I do not keep a sub] and build changing.

Every patch means i need to regrind some skills, play some dungeons, and regrind gear, transmutes, farm/trade/writs for gold, etc etc to stay competitive in pvp. I have 9 toons, and only really want to play about 3 of them normally. Still, changes all across the board all the time just mean I get to play SOME pvp, then spend a lot of time getting ready to play. I am pretty sure I spend more time working in the game to get ready to play than i do actually enjoying it.

I have no idea how some of you have been on this trip since release. I really enjoy pvp sometimes and have no idea what other games I need to look into. I have zero desire to go back to FPS games. Maybe I just need to go back to single player life in other RPGs or RTS games or something.

The stickerbook was both really helpful for combating change fatigue (as in, once you have the sets unlocked you can easily recreate them to match the changing meta) and really bad for causing burnout in the initial "gotta catch 'em all" rush to fill it out.

One of the quirks of ESO is that the Devs have gradually introduced QOL stuff to make change less painful like transmutation, the stickerbook, skyshard packs, better morph/attribute altars, and the Armory. That's a good thing! But on the other hand, all that is only making the change more bearable, instead of not making the change in the first place.

    Change fatigue...
While I understand the sentiment, most of my life has been nothing but change.
By the time I was in my late teens, my family had moved in excess of 30 times. I hate moving ... I'm really good at it, but I really hate it.

Change is the nature of life. You either master change or you wither into nothingness and are swept away by the tides of time like dust blown in the wind.

I am not so worried about the frequency of change as I am about the direction. In the long run, I believe ESO is heading in the right direction. What does worry me is the potential speed bumps or detours along the way.
