howdy folks,
since i haven't seen any topics or discussions about the new Molten Whip morph and PvP here's my take. this change is going to force players to bench mag. DKs in PvP. let me explain my train of thought here -
- my mag. DK is a Breton with 16555 Stamina (my gear is enchanted with Prismatic glyphs)
- my Stamina recovery in combat is 535 every 2 seconds
- the Molten Whip morph costs 2203 Magicka, which means that after the next patch it will cost something like 1100 Stamina and 1100 Magicka
- in PvP you are immobilized or stunned every 7-8 seconds on average
- my Break Free cost is 4403 Stamina, Dodge Roll is 3405 Stamina
now, i have never been good at math, but the first look at the numbers tells me that i will be out of Stamina in about 15 seconds. i will have spent around 18600 and recovered around 3745 Stamina during those 15 seconds (
3x Break Free, 6x Molten Whip plus some DoTs that cost Magicka). so in 15 seconds i will be unable to cast my main spammable ability. nor Dodge Roll or Break Free. yes, Immovable potions help a wee bit, but this is just a rough estimation. so let's be generous and say it's going to be 20 seconds before i will be unable to CC break and/or cast Molten Whip. um... what?
i don't understand the reasoning behind this change. the Developer Comment says (
and i quote) "
To help this ability become more available to hybrid builds, we've opted to take a very unique route with the ability where the cost is now split evenly between Magicka and Stamina. In doing so, we hope to see more unique interactions with the skill as well as aiding more Stamina-focused Dragonknights in sustaining the skill.". but what about Magicka based DKs in PvP? are they supposed to use the other morph that nobody uses anyway and lose all the damage bonuses because they will simply either kill their opponent in less than 20 seconds or will not be able to do anything after that? what about prolonged fights? if you run out of Stamina in PvP you're dead. simple as that. in this case you're not only going to be dead, but you'll be unable to cast your
MAIN spammable ability even before that. why not do what the players have been asking for ages and simply make the other morph (
again, that almost nobody uses anyway) a Poison-based Stamina Whip with its own perks? i haven't a clue how am i going to adapt to this change or what am i going to do, but i guess my time with my Mag. DK in PvP has ended..
