Server status ETA

Ariane✭✭✭It's curious why the patch applied fine to the US server but patching the EU server has issues again with the same patch.
I was thinking about this too. First, they try to launch the patch in EU server and it fails, then they launch it in NA server and it works and now it fails again in the EU server.
I assume there's something wrong with the hardware used as EU server, that's the only explanation. I hope they can solve it and move servers to EU as soon as possible >.<"I am not an Argonian. I am a crocodile"0 -

Burrick✭It's the same game, same place, same equipment in EU as it is in the USA - Why the fook is the EU delayed? Only thing I can think of is 100 guys working on the USA megaserver and 1 man and his dog working on the EU ffs!2

Like what other game? Id love to know these games with no downtime. Ive played many and all of them take 4-6 hours to do this kind of thing. You first have to apply the patch. Then test it make sure its working. Id much rather they take the time now and be sure its right.
You do know they have test server ect ect to test if it's working right? Well ok you might be right and they don't but then I have just lost all faith in this company just like that.
When you say "most" can you even name one that does patches in 30 mins or less?0 -

patrikblb16_ESO✭✭✭Way can't you (ZOS) give out an ETA when the servers are back up? It's not like to have to keep the ETA as its an ETA and by definition is just a guess. But it would help us costumers to be able to plan our life better.
I would like to know if I have time to go do the grocery shopping or clean the house before the servers are back up or not for an example.
ZOS cant give us an ETA because they are Zenimax Online Support, they are here to monitor the forums and help us by pointing us to FAQ's.
You have a better chance getting an ETA from Zenimax.

ZOS cant give us an ETA because they are Zenimax Online Support, they are here to monitor the forums and help us by pointing us to FAQ's.

Like what other game? Id love to know these games with no downtime. Ive played many and all of them take 4-6 hours to do this kind of thing. You first have to apply the patch. Then test it make sure its working. Id much rather they take the time now and be sure its right.

OK...
all Blizzard games have downtimes of about 8 hours at least once a month. Last one was this week!
SWTOR has downtimes from 2 hours up to 10 hours, depending if they patch or not.
GW2 had a massive downtimes in their WvW realm etc. etc.
You guys really shouldn't think about what BF 3 or 4 do, but what other MMO´s do. A shooter is a totally different thing than an MMO.1 -

✭If they gave an ETA of 3 hrs and it took 5, many people would be in uproar saying they came home especially as they said it would be up then etc.
On the other hand if they gave an ETA of 5 hrs and it only took 3, again many people would be in uproar saying had they not been told it was 5, they would have not done xyz and made sure they were home to play.
That's the trouble with ETA, they simply cannot win.
Most of the time giving an ETA would be pure guesswork.
Yesterdays NA maintenance took 4 - 5 hrs, so logically they could give an ETA of the same, but judging by how the EU server is still down, they would have been wrong and people would complain.
As something unforeseen must have happened else it would have taken around the same time as the NA, it's pretty obvious they don't know whether it will take 10 mins or 5 hrs to fix, so an ETA now would be pointless.
This isn't me having a go at the OP, for every one reasonable person out there that can take an ETA as an approximation there appears to be about 10 who cant.Edited by Ojustaboo on May 1, 2014 9:35AM1 -

No. I have dyslexia too so I can understand that some don't get what is written some times. But that was not what I meant. If you read closely I use shopping as an example on what I can easier calculated the time for if I had an ETA.
I want an ETA so I can more efficiently calculate my time around the game.

Brakkar✭✭✭EvE online have a regular daily short downtime and longer on larger patch days and expansion packs. Regular downtime can be as short as 30 minutes and usually isn't longer than 1 hour.0

It has *no* downtime when deploying small or big patches.
You play the game. You get a notice that a new patch is available and usually get a certain amount of minutes before it forces log off/patch. You exit the game. You restart the launcher, which download the new patch. You launch the game and continue playing on the updated version.
Bringing the servers down for "maintenance" for hours and hours just to apply a patch? That's like, a 2005 game. No wait, I think GW1 had the same patching system. Make that a 1998 game or something.
If ESO require like 6 hours of server downtime just for a simple patch... They need to go through and recode the way patches are handled. Because its broken. Completely and utterly broken.
That said, I think the servers just came online because my launcher started updating now lol.1 -

They are on different computers. Things can happen with one that did not happen with the other. Not everything always goes perfectly all the time. They have communicated it is taking longer than expected.0 -

EU server is most likely run by old second-hand hardware. Anyways, client is patching now.
