Buy Orders

Hello everyone, do you guys want to have this option in game, "Buy Orders" many of you may be familiar with it, for those who are not, Buy Orders mean somebody posting in guild store a buy order, like I want to buy 650 rubedite ore for 15 per item, and who wants to sell just can fulfill the buy order and get the money.

What you think guys, do we want this to be implemented?

So if I visit a guild trader npc, aside from buying stuff I would be also able to sell stuff, but on the trading guild terms ? I guess that would be awesome. I would use it as long as I would get more gold vs what npcs are offering for the motif pages :D:joy:

And imho this kinda a win-win. I mean I can not think of a single drawback.
    - It is not a global trading/auction house, so guild trading are still relevant & primary trading method.
    - Huge boost to item supply as all of the sudden all ESO players can contribute to the item supply chain.
    - Base price of every item goes down.
    - Income from re-selling (flipping items) remains the same.

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

For some odd reason I foresee you suddenly getting in the mail messages of people posting average recent prices of what it sells for then telling you off that you're ripping off other players. Just like they do in zone chat, you know the ones.

ZOS could always set a minimum amount for items. That's how it's done in GW2. This means you can neither buy nor sell below that minimum "trash" level.

In theory this sounds like a good idea, in practice however.... many players will sell items for ridiculous prices, hoping to catch some noob, or other players offguard. Just to rip them off. Not to mention the serverload this would bring into the game.

PS: I have seen this happen in other games.

There's a lot of things not considered here.

    Mostly people.

People are *** and will ruin any player driven system like this.

Also for a universal Order system, you would circumvent Guild Trader Locations, people pay quite a bit to maintain their Trader Locations. So I'm not sure how they would use that, and if it's not a Universal System, then there's really not a reason for it as you can just search for stuff already.

Now if each Trading Hub had a "Job Board" where people could post their own Writs for crafters/gatherers to fulfill, that might be interesting, as you can list what you need and how much you'll pay for it.

Keeping it simple is a better idea. Having both sell and buy orders increases the amount of data the game needs to deal with without adding much to the game. I would rather server resources be put towards something that adds more value to the game.

Yes, as long as it's not restricted to the sellers being guild members but open to all.

(I really, really don't want to have the "if you won't join a guild it's your fault because you're really lazy // the game is absolutely perfect // I make 12 million per day so what's your problem // how would the hardware ever cope with any change that I don't personally want etc" discussion for the tenth time, though. I've already stopped playing ESO because of the failure to provide any sensible selling mechanism for non-guild members.)

to stop people from pricing things in the millions or somthing thats cheap for millions.. why they do this i have no idea.. but.. maybe its ture maybe too many mean people in eso riping people off..

I don't understand how this would be any worse for poor pricing, scams etc. than our current system, since it's almost exactly the same.

Just like when you're listing your items for sale in the guild store you get to decide how many you're selling and for how much, and buyers have to either be in the guild or go to the trader to buy them; if you placed a buy order you would say how many items you want to buy and how much you'll pay for them, and sellers would have to be in your guild or visit the trader to fulfil the order.

No one can over charge you because you set the price. If they think it's not enough they can choose not to sell to you and find another buyer or list the items for sale in their own guild store, but they can't change your price, just like buyers can't give you less gold than you've asked for when you're selling items. Likewise they can't trick you into buying the wrong item or whatever other type of scam you might be worried about, because you've set all the parameters for the trade.

I'd find this really useful for certain items. There's been a few times I've been trying to find a specific motif piece or a dawn-prism or something and there's very few listed on TTC, they're all gone and I can't find one anywhere. It would be very helpful if I could place a buy order on my guild trader so anyone who chooses to look through them can see that I'm looking for that item and how much I'm wiling to pay and if they have one they can decide if they want to sell it to me.

I know I could put a message in Discord or something (my guild doesn't allow buy/sell messages in guild chat), but that would only reach the minority of guild members who regularly check Discord, not all the people who visit our trader.

If you're in a guild that uses Discord, you could post a message in Discord. Then, if you get responses, you could ask if they're willing to become regular suppliers for you.

Now I see... many of you guys just DO NOT understand how this system will be working....

We have a guild A for instance with trader hired, that guild has 500 players in it, what they can to is:
    1. just stay in guild
    2. chat in guild
    3. do other activities
    4. PLACE ITEMS TO BE SOLD
    5. and the main thing they can also put BUY ORDERS, for example Im in that guild, I put 30 items to be sold in our guild trader, also I have created BUY ORDER for example 500 rubedite ores for 20 gold each, and pay 500*20+some tax upon placing BUY ORDER

Now, another players comes to our guild trader gently presses "E" button and opens guild trader menu, what he/she can do there is:
    1. Sell if he/she is a part of that guild
    2. buy some items as we doing today
    3. also they can open BUY ORDER menu and see all BUY ORDERS posted by guild A players and fulfill them! That's it!

Awful system. It'll be neat at first because of the new factor, but after a month or two will just be another useless system in this game and the original poster shows us why right off the bat.

    "rubedite ore at 15 per"

It will turn into a system where people grossly undervalue everything and try to get stuff for next to nothing.

Then it will be used for a laugh cause we'll go to it to see what ridiculously low prices some people are asking for stuff.

How is that any different to now?

On TTC for PC EU for example I can see that there's dozens of people selling heartwood for under 1,000g each, many as low as 700-715g (and a few anomalies below that, the lowest is 6g each). But there's also someone selling it for 9,900g each, followed by 6,666g, 4,999g and 3,994g. (That's not an exception, pick any item and you'll see a similar range of prices. Dreugh Wax starts around 10,000-15,000g and goes up to 125,000g.)

Do we need to get rid of the current option to sell through guild traders because some people will grossly overvalue their items and try to get far more than they're worth?

No of course not, because we understand that buyers are not mindless bots forced to pay whatever a seller happens to ask and if the price is too high they can simply ignore it. Why would it be any different with people selling to buy orders?

Tbh. If I have a motif page that all of my characters already know, then if I am not in a trading guild, then I have 2 options:
    - Sell it to NPC for 16 gold.
    - Destroy the item (And if it is event motif page, then I can pretty much only destroy it).
If I can sell it to a player for more than what NPCs are offering for it, then I don't care what happens with that item next, as I have no use for it. Also I don't think that it would be super easy for trading guild to "buy items for next to nothing" as we have TTC websites, so players (all players, not just the ones in a trading guild) more or less know what would be a "fair" price for them.

If ESO trading system is based on competition (who offers lowest prices "wins", because people will buy from them rather than the others) then the addition of huge boost of extra cheap supply will cause the prices to go down. Guild traders will still be able to "flip" items with huge (same) profits, but the difference will be that the final price will be way lower, since the base price will be way lower.

I guess that ESO trading system did not received and changes / overhauls / qol improvements since the game launched and players in general imho are "afraid" of any changes.

I fail to see how my post indicates I do not understand how the suggestion would work. I pointed out the facts that the suggestion would add a redundant system and that it would increase the amount of data the servers would have to deal with as the servers would be storing both buy and sell orders. These are both realities of the suggestion and nothing posted in the above quote suggests otherwise.

So if you are suggesting I do not understand please address both of those points. Otherwise, I will stick with my opinion that I would rather server resources be put towards something that adds more value to the game vs sameness.

I would like to see this as a Guild feature. It would get out of control as trading feature but narrowed down with rules should make it more manageable and a nice incentive to guild membership. Examples:
    • Requests can only be made and seen if you are a member of the Guild.
    • Requests time out after 5 days.
    • No more that 3 requests per account/Guild at a time.
    • Sell/buy tax is charged, the same as posting items for sale.
    • Option in Guild permissions to lock/make available for Rank.

    • Requests can only be made and seen if you are a member of the Guild.
That would kinda make the whole feature pointless. The only potential benefit is internal guild trading (trading between players that are part of the same guild). It is not even trading between 2 trading guilds... I think that the "buy offer" Should be visible for every one visiting Trading Guild NPC, just on separate "tab". If I am visiting trading vendor I can see all of the items the guild is selling and it does not matter if I am in a guild or as a solo player.

I agree. Heck, if is can only be viewed via the guild then they can just use their discord or forum to handle such requests.

    Solved.

ZOS could always set a minimum amount for items. That's how it's done in GW2. This means you can neither buy nor sell below that minimum "trash" level.

ZOS already set minimum prices for selling to NPCs,and won't get involved in player trading economy. How would they even get an idea of the minimum price,by looking at recent pricing? Those numbers change depending on events, new items that need rare crafting mats, etc.
You'd also have loads of unfilled orders, cause noone would sell items for as low as someone would want them for,ppl would abuse it.
It would also put a load on servers,as they just implemented AWA to reduce load/space for performance. They'd have to do a major overhaul of traders to make it work, even partly.
And as others stated only works in a single auction house setting, and TTC site is as close to central auction house as we'll ever get.
