Server status ETA

Way can't you (ZOS) give out an ETA when the servers are back up? It's not like to have to keep the ETA as its an ETA and by definition is just a guess. But it would help us costumers to be able to plan our life better.

I would like to know if I have time to go do the grocery shopping or clean the house before the servers are back up or not for an example.

Very good point. It would be great to atleast have an estimate to plan around. Today's a holiday here, the weather is crappy and my kids aren't home, so I'm kinda waiting to have a go.. ;)

Why don't you do some grocery shopping or clean the house anyway, irrespective of when the servers come back online?

Not trying to troll, but why is it imperative that you be sat at your computer when the servers come back online when you have chores that could be done?

For the fanbois: No, within this thread we are NOT waiting for you to come in and say "It's up when it will be up".

    Ty.

Question remains, feedback from ZOS still appreciated.

It is year 2014, normal service providers give you DT ETA (when their outdated service cannot be patched while running - because it was designed during the 90s). They are also avoiding service downtime during peak play time like national holidays and such (like the one we have today). Hilarious thing, developing ancient designs for present customers.

Well can't argue with your point and would do so but I for one are at a camping side where its raining and cold. The entertainment i got is limited and ESO was my escape =)

I'll again, like the passed 3 other days will do something else and that's fine but when you wake up at 06.30 with nothing to do till 09.00 then its nice to have the game up =)

The answer is if they give an estimate and dont meet it then people will scream bloody murder. Here is an idea. Dont let a game control your life. Go shopping the game will still be here when you get home.

Same maintenance in NA server took nearly 5 hours, so hopefully server should be back in less than an hour.

Could have spent these hours until I have to go on my business in the morning by playing the game. It's a free day for me and the weather is not that great outside. I log in and see it's bloody maintenance that came to me a bit unexpectedly because wait...wasn't already one a couple of days ago? All in all I get that it it is needed to fix bugs and make our game experience better, but if it starts at 7 AM and it's already 11AM here...you expect it to be over already.

    Oh damn..
I'm waiting for 3 hours already. I can't play in the evenings (after 20:00 anyway) because my net at home (where I am for 3 more weeks) is REALLY bad - 20+ seconds latency (*** Slovak Telecom - well, technically it's Orange, but they are just using rented Telecom's infrastructure - even webs refuse to load after 22:00), so I was kinda hoping to play in the morning.. got up at 7:30 and guess what.. MAINTENANCE.

Same as yesterday morning. WTF? Will the servers be shut down till noon each day now or what? I love that you're fixing stuff, but it would be great to start some 4 hours sooner..

Lets take the facts from official posts and create our own ETA =)

The US Server was offline today for about 5,2 hours.
ZOS wrote that it will most probably not take more that 4 hours. (we're already at 4,2 hours)

I guess that the EU Server will be up again in the next hour, probably rather sooner than later because they've done the same things on the US server recently (so, the'yre probably trained by now)

My guess is ~10:45 CET =)

Like what other game? Id love to know these games with no downtime. Ive played many and all of them take 4-6 hours to do this kind of thing. You first have to apply the patch. Then test it make sure its working. Id much rather they take the time now and be sure its right.

But requesting them to give us a ETA is not unreasonably. It has been the standard practice of MMORPG companies for the last 15 years. Just because all forums have a bunch of kids on them with not patient what so ever is not reson enough to avoid giving us an ETA.

They do know what they are planing to do and it's not that hard for them to estimate how long each task takes and they can always calculate in extra time for things that might go wrong.

Very good point there too. Allthough, I allready did my chores for this week in advance to be able to have some fun on my day off. And is it really too much to ask that they set an ETA when they take the server down? As said previously, it doesnt have to be set in stone, just so we get a pointer. Not everyone has such a big window for gaming as you might think.

I'm sure you could aswell do your chores instead of nitpicking on other peoples posts :sunglasses:
