Until some time ago, I had a big issue with this, and it ran up to 96.8Even in the login screen it'd heat up to 90 degrees. Which was really weird to me. Capping the fps to 144 - my screens max - with the addon advanced game settings (big thanks to the maker btw), helped a bit on the login screen temperature. But GPU temperature was still about 92 while playing, which is still too hot if you want your GPU to last. I then installed some more case fans, without it helping more than a few degrees. It was also worth noting that my cpu has one of the best coolers, and did not get above 50 while the gpu ran at 90 degrees.
Next in line I figured that the fan curve on my gpu wasn't steep enough. But adjusting it didn't help. Then I found out that the program responsible for the adjusted fan curve didn't start automatically (unlike the cpu one which is adjusted in bios). Making the program controlling gpu fans start with the computer, meant that the gpu fans finally started doing their job proper, and that helped another few degrees.
But, the real problem was finally found when I opened up my graphics card to take a look at whether the cooling paste was properly distributed. It was not, and when I saw the job some moron had done on my poor gpu, it was my face that got a steep temperature increase. Msi, who made the card (msi gainward geforce rtx 2080 triple 8gb gddr6 ) have done a disgraceful job on applying cooling paste. There was too much smeared in a lot of places where there should be none, and little to nothing where it should actually be. So two hours of careful cleaning, reapplying properly and reassembly, and it suddenly ran eso at 60 degrees, with every setting completely maxed, while running a movie on my secondary monitor. - whew!
Also I hope this essay can inspire someone who also has gpu temperature issues to take measures to help alleviate the problem. If needed I can write a less angry guide in bulletpoints to make it more accessible than above.
I crypto mine n have ESO get it around 45C can got up to 53C

What has been troubling me is the CPU temp 70-80+ but only shows about 16% - 20% load
I do not have MT rendering turned on.
I bought this gaming LT during the holidays last year so its def not an age thing.
Even tho its under warranty yet I'm fighting the urge to open it up and check the thermal paste.
CPU should not be that bloody hot.
