. Why did we not get a house that looked like 90% of the other manors in town? With decent noble decor and design, more aimed at a castle like vibe.

This! The palast of High Isle is beautiful. A real home for a knight. I would love to have that as a house.

I dont really like the new house at all. Too big with 700 spaces. You get lost easy, too many stairs...It just reminds me of another Water's Edge. The architecture is basically the same, they are half-timbered houses

You really should think of making a castle vibe home. It would be awesome if you place it at a beach side, so we have a resort. Like this:

What are your thoughts on the new housing in

Your constant need to add notables rather than medium size and small homes is getting a bit old. We have been asking for more small homes for years and it falls on deaf ears.

Also, the widow's walk in High Hollow has an invisible line that stops you from using 90% of the porch. like some genius copy-pasted the invisible wall line from the other mini balcony that stops you from jumping to street level. BTW: your furnished version adds benches clearly meant for sitting that you can't get to.

ON THE POSITIVE-ISH: The architecture is gorgeous and the layout is interesting. the floating walls in a couple section break the room up nicely. though not sure what is up with the giant head-tall blocks in the 2 rooms on far ends of the house. we have no stairs to meet the height of those and they are too wide to be 'shelves'. we can't sink stairs to make them fit being on an upper level. not sure what the thoughts behind those were but they could make for interesting storage or sitting areas or even raised eds...if we had a good way to reach them.

what do you think of the new furnishings
I'd love to have more of an opinion on this...but wth are they?? We have next to no prints to look forward to this Chapter. We've never had so few released with the Chapter. There's clearly whole sets of new dishes, some new foods, cups, vases, urns, a thermometer, TWO hourglasses, scrolls, an open book, among many other things ....and no prints for them. nothing in the crown purchase tab. Is this to be yet ANOTHER zone where it's "oooh look, pretty!" everywhere but our own homes? All that block n tackle and nets adorning everywhere EXCEPT what we can decorate with?? Why does this Chapter feel like housing was an afterthought??

    any general feedback?
Stop locking all the new houses behind crown only paywalls. We had a great balance. Inn room and a large home for gold with Chapter. Crown Only Notable to follow. "freebie" you could earn by end of year through participation in a community-wide event or holiday event grinds.... sometimes with a second new notable thrown in to the crown only mix. We don't need MORE crown-only houses. even with the gifting system, this is getting out of control. If you aren't going to raise furniture limits (Which, btw, you guys PROMISED to revisit the issue once new consoles were out because those were the major complication...then once we got new hardware, which you said gets installed this summer....so WHEN do we get to revisit this?) If you aren't going to increase limits any time soon, what's stopping you from meeting us in the middle and releasing some new "FOR GOLD" homes that are small to medium sized?? Seems an easy enough compromise, don't you think?

That said, how about all the other things we're still asking for??? Targets and target dummies? Weapons even if just in weapon racks (noticed you made another set of new ones, matching th new style...and we STILL don't get to use em, eh?) and the new barrels with dirt and little mushrooms. its another set of pots with dirt to be used as planters and we can't even get planters without plants in them already. Musical instruments like lutes. Wheels of cheese that are NOT the special glowing ones. (yup, noticed those. along with the realistically size tomatoes that have a slice one in the bin)

Most of us aren't even begging for NEW things....we are simply asking you to release to us the ability to use things you have ALREADY DONE and decorated with! What, exactly, i the point of holding these up? You don't revisit old styles and add to them, so obviously you are not just 'saving for later' at this point.

And lastly, PLEASE add furnishing materials to our Surveys!!! The market on PC is wildly out of control with a significant lack of gold sinks. Crowns don't go on sale enough to keep them at a more reasonable level since house gifting went live, and all that is happening is wildly uncontrolled inflation thanks to some folks having nothing to do in game other than flip things on trader driving the prices up even higher. You keep only giving us these GIANT homes.... and then make it completely impossible to maintain our materials to enjoy these homes without having to buy most or all our mats from people just wanting to price gouge. I can farm an hour and not see 100 heartwood. That is with ONLY running from wood to wood node and on a small starter area to time the respawn timers of the nodes. 100 heart wood won't craft enough pieces to do a full dining room table and chairs these days. Either increase our drops, or start cutting back on the requirements in the prints. 16 Ancient Sandstone to make a single Fargrave item???? Come on, that's a STYLE mat. You guys moved AWAY from stupidly high style mats requirements, remember?? What happened?? We have to grind and grind for special style mats. You've minimized bootable grinds for furnishing print farming. You won't give us more reasonable sized homes and keep pushing notables, you nickel and dime the drops for farming our own materials..... and now a Chapter drop with half the new prints we usually see.

Overall, we're just NOT feeling the love this year ZOS. WE are your cash cows. WE are why you have whales that buy stupidly huge amounts of crowns since the advent of the gifting system. Housing folks are likely more than 50% of your major cash flow in-game these days because we're ALSO probably the biggest buyers of crown crates too. (ty SO MUCH for making a couple of our most demanded items crate only drops btw *sigh*) We aren't asking for anything unreasonable. We aren't even asking everything come at once. But a little consistency would be nice and a FEW concessions wouldn't kill ya. :(

You made many good points in your post.

I started out very enthusiastic about housing. Over time, the grind/RNG/difficulty/cost of housing, materials, and recipes just became an annoyance/disappointment and no longer fun, so I stopped. I've been tempted to start up again and have tried in the past, but then it all comes back to me and I stop again. The interval of time between my interest in housing gets longer and longer.

I always worry, though, that ZOS will see waning interest, less spending of money on housing, etc., and think it's because people aren't interested when in fact, it's them pushing us away due to the above. If they would change at least some of the issues (give us smaller houses and maybe more furnishing mat drops at least), maybe it would help offset some of the issues, but they don't seem to be willing to do that. :(

What are your general thoughts on new houses?

Agree with what others are saying; Highhallow Hold is pretty underwhelming. Just so much indoor space and way too many staircases, LOL. Also, at the moment the Widow's Peak is bugged for me, can't get more than a foot from the door. Courtyard is small and kinda boring. Hope we'll see a better flagship house for this chapter.

What do you think of the new furnishings?

Furnishings are nice, was hoping for furnishings that would be able to be crafted w/existing Breton materials (like with Nords/Skyrim). I assume we'll be getting more than what's currently on PTS in the future. Would love more of the knick-knacks, books, and pieces of paper. REALLY want the maritime tools I've seen lying around.

Do you have any other general feedback?

Would definitely like to see more small/medium houses purchasable for gold in the new chapters. Would also love more decorative items, there are so many I've seen in the town!!!

A friend of mine did the maths.

number of new furniture items by update
    High Isle/Update 34: 102
    Ascending Tide/Update 33: 55
    Deadlands/Update 32: 148
    Dungeon DLC/Update 31: 93
    Blackwood/Update 30: 172
    Greymoor: 419
    Elsweyr: 307

This is pathetic. And as has been mentioned above, the assets are already in the game, so just... come on. Seriously, come on. We're not asking for anything unreasonable here, just the bare minimum.

Elsweyr at 307 and it still doesn't cover everything, like the counter corners or flat desks with the floral motif.

I just did a count for older updates:
Morrowind: 363; introduced the 13 Mundus stones
    Clockwork City: 199
Dragon Bones: 118; introduced the 8 storage coffers
    Summerset: 319
    Wolfhunter: 36
    Murkmire: 156
    Wrathstone: 28

It's looking bad when Murkmire, which expands seamlessly on vanilla Argonian set, had more to offer than a full-fledged 40 dollars expansion and it was given away for free at some point as well.

I will not speak of the size, as i love all kind of houses.

When i enter a house, i am either impressed or deceived, and i expect a lot from a manor.

On this one i am really deceived. The atmosphere is sad. The walls seems made of salpetre, more toxic, like you could find that in some damp and moldy house. The ground is great but does not correspond with the walls. If you wanted to render the house as not habited since long, then the ground would have to match the state of the walls.

I choose to have it furnished, and even with what you put inside, it seems so scattered and that we will not have enough to make it a comfortable house.

There is clearly two types of furnitures : rich and poor. And while there is always that kind in all previous furnitures, this time the difference is huge.
You went with blue and red for the bretons colors. Blue i was expecting it, but the red bed is way too contrasting. You gave us so much red with the redguard furnitures. (The blue bench is really nearly a copy past beside the color and some wood decoration).

I know already that i will not get that house. I checked to see if i could hide some walls and give another feeling but nope.

Its an abandonned manor since too long, the walls shows it, the windows with pealing paints could have been enough but they are in differents colors (green, blue), and every rooms shows the bad state of this house.

    Furnitures
Too few, really. And considering the value you give to this new story, i was expecting new style too.

Seems those Breton are cheap. Their manor and furnitures are cheap. I had an idea of splendor when i saw the preview. I was wrong then.
No new curtains, no new pillows. No new banners or tapestry. The lights and brazier are more what i imagine being part of a fort, not a comfy house/manor

The paintings are not giving any idea of what are the bretons.
You created more beautiful with the redoran, or vampire .
I just compared fully the redguard and what you did ...... i am sorry. I know you worked on those breton but its lacking something. Really.

This is a sad manor with sad furnitures.

NB : i just went after this to visit the Palace!! what a difference!! curtains, tapestries are colored. giving life. The wood ground and pattern is great. The greens banners, blue vivid curtains are beautiful.
Visiting around some little houses in town, i loved the blue beds, the kettle for bed, the bird feeder, the new inkwell.

And i am shocked to see how beautiful is the gaming hall compared to the manor. Why not those walls in the manor ??? Why did you not mixed the ground in the manor as you did in the gaming hall ??

I am not a fan that both Highhallow Hold and the Inn Room are in the same town. You do this a lot, and it makes it feel a little silly to get both.

The Inn Room is on the smaller side, but that is OK since ZOS seems super committed to keeping Inn Rooms at 30 slots, and Saint Delyn Penthouse, the largest of the Inn Rooms is too large for 30 slots.

Highhallow has some strange structures under the windows eDjk8tt.png that are huge and look awkward and out of place. I guess they are supposed to match the outside geometry of the house, but you can't even see those spot easily from outside. I also feel too much space is lost to stairwells. I think the intent is to match the idea of a manor house where servants had their own stairs, but you have utility/servant looking areas on either end of the house instead of stacked up along one side. It would be nice to have more smaller rooms, or more structural items that match the walls that would allow us to better subdivide the upper space. The small and sparce furniture seems to get lost in some of the larger spaces.

The Widows Walk has an invisible wall that blocks access to most of it. The North/South balconies are very small. It would be nice if at least the one overlooking the yard was deeper so as to place a table for breakfast overlooking the estate.

I like the cushioned stool and pew. Wish there were more fully cushioned and larger couches in the game, as well as loveseats and armchairs.

Overall, the furniture there is looks nice, but it would have been nice if it played more into the Celtic themes we see in OG Breton furniture, and if there was a more expansive selection of furniture. ESO also needs a lot more knick-knacks we can place on shelves and tables.

For everyone saying that Highhallow Hold is only available for crowns - that's how Water's Edge was on the PTS as well. We didn't see the gold price for having the achievement until it hit live.

I went back and checked a previous video - Water's Edge in Blackwood offered an option to purchase for gold or Crowns on PTS (tho the gold option was not selectable as I hadn't done the unlock achievement on PTS, of course).

Hopefully this house will actually be available for gold.

Gold bought houses are usually only 600 slots and this one has 700. There's only 4 X 700 slot gold bought houses.

I mean, it would only be fair if they allowed us to buy the new house for gold, considering how little love they are giving the housing community this update. I doubt it though.

If memory serves, there was no option to buy Water's Edge for gold in the PTS cycle for Blackwood. I vaguely remember complaining about that back then. It is very odd that the new house is 700 slots, though. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I finally checked the PTS last night. I walked all over the house and was left with the impression I missed a turn or a set of stairs. It felt like something was missing, and only while reading this thread today did I figure out what it feels like. The whole house feels like we're in the servers' quarters. The choice of furnishings for the crown version and their placement just reinforce that feeling for me.

Walking through the starter zone I saw multiple items I'd love to have as furnishings - all the copper pots and pans, the washing board, so many cool nick-knacks... I guess there is always a chance we'll get them with the 2nd story-DLC, but I'm not holding my breath as it seems the team who is doing furnishings has been on a structural kick lately.

Don't get me wrong, I do like structural items. I just don't understand why we can't have a balance between small and big items.

    1. Seeing that there is a staggering amount of items we are not getting patterns for, the only thing that makes sense is that half of this stuff is going to be added to a later DLC. Either that, or there wasn't enough time to add all the patterns you wanted to, and they will just be thrown into the game when you get around to it, kind of like Elsweyr's paintings. I'm okay with either of these, so long as we eventually get them. If we don't, there will be pitchforks. At least in my brain. Because there is no way Rolis Haalu or the Lux vendor could possibly get their hands on this many missing items. So, please, please don't do us dirty like this, ZOS.
    2. At the very least, give us the chair with the blue padding? Because ...why. Why wouldn't you? Out of everything, you have arbitrarily decided it's the simple chair that will be held back from us? It's like not giving us a table. What is going on.
    3. It's the house across from the enormous undecoratable house your offering us that's amazing. Arnelnewen's home. The one with the yellow door. I keep stabbing her, in fits of jealousy. It's her house I want. And it has a loft.

Highhallow Hold is a big letdown imo. I dig the style (the nooks under the stairs are cute!), and while I get others' concerns about the furnishing limit I like that it's big! The actual layout is the massive disappointment for me.

All that space and all those walls and doorways, and yet it's just one big maze with no proper rooms, every location is just a thoroughfare connecting every other location. After Sweetwater Cascades I thought that was just the start and we were going to get more houses with actual rooms but instead we're just back to looping halls where you can't get any privacy because any given area is connected by 3 or 4 doors or openings.

    Regarding the new house:

    1) The walls look neglected and as a result, ugly. In my housing guild, several of us wondered if we would bother to purchase this house. If we have to spend a ton of furnishings JUST to hide the walls, you end up with too little to furnish 5 floors and a courtyard. Yes, we have high standards, yes, we want to make the most of it, not do half a job and call it a day. The walls just don't fit when it's a house in a high-end neighbourhood, previously owned by the two most prominent families. Once fully furnished, with the most expensive furnishings available and fit for a king, they will look even more out of place. Please put some plaster on it as we're not able to. If this was real life, it'd literally be the first thing you'd fix.

    2) There is a bug with the walkway, you step out of the door there and can't move forward any more due to an invisible wall.

    3) Not seen this myself, but not sure it's mentioned yet: there's apparently a hole in the wooden floor somewhere that you can fall through.

    4) It's a bit of a maze.

I strongly believe this house will need some alterations in order to be really popular. It does have potential, even at its size/slot limit, but it could definitely be better.

Between various issues on PTS and it only being an inn room, I did not visit the inn room, I have no need of it.

I second the notion that we want more plots where we can build our own home from scratch. This zone would be PERFECT for such a plot. Just saying.

    Regarding the new furnishings:

    1) No new craftable structurals, never mind in the new style (could have made me VERY happy with that alone)

    2) Not enough new items, craftable or otherwise and only a few of which I really say, I'd like to have that. I'll likely collect all the craftable recipes, but I don't immediately see anything that I can't wait to have/craft.

When Alyennnah is not here, she's probably crafting. Quite possibly at Alyennah's Crafting in Wayrest. Or maybe she's out there, looking for new materials, recipes and styles to use in crafting. She wants to craft all the things.

What are your general thoughts on new houses?
I am personally very disappointed and concerned by Highhallow Hold house, however I am quite sure it can suit many people who likes middle-age theme. My biggest concern of this house is that the courtyard (hence the truly "buildable" area) is at the back instead a front courtyard entry like in Linchal Manor.

Please consider very strongly to give us a land to build, preferrably with private beach area. Something like Moonsugar Meadow 2.0 in High Isle. We do not need another massive house built for us, we need a plot to build with natural lighting that's not a daedric realm with unnatural tints.

I am also concerned by the lack of confirmation whether we will even have a gold-obtainable large house this chapter as Highhallow Hold seems to be 700 slots when most gold-buyable large houses in the past are 600 slots.

What do you think of the new furnishings?
I personally do not like them (I really loved Solitude and leyawiin style furnishings as well as Alinor) but that is more to personal preferrence.

Do you have any other general feedback?
Please consider giving us an empty plot of land with natural lighting to build with each chapter.

The Velosie Townhouse in Gonfalon Bay (or is it Square?) is also a really nice set up for a quaint little city home. I wish you guys could understand that we want homes that are not so intimidating to decorate. Ones which provide a cozy atmosphere. So many prospects in this city if you could only see the world through the eyes of your customers.

"We want small and medium homes."

It's the millionth time someone has said this, but has it ever actually been heard? Chapter after chapter, city after city, countryside after countryside, and still it's one sprawling home after another.

Why does this fall on deaf ears?

    Every.
    single.
    Year.

I don't even care if I have to pay Crowns for a small or medium home, so long as the crown price is commensurate with the size.

Highhallow has some strange structures under the windows eDjk8tt.png that are huge and look awkward and out of place.

You can add a small staircase to it and then it looks to me like a nice place for a seating area in front of the windows.

    • What are your general thoughts on new houses?
The inn room is fine and feels spacious, love the high ceilings.
The Highallow Hold is too big and has a confusing layout, to many places to get lost in trying to find a way around.
There are two places with huge boxes under the windows, they seem out of place.
The Highhallow Widow's Walk balcony is inaccessible? I can enter it but I cant walk around / use the space.
      The courtyard is okay.
    • What do you think of the new furnishings?
I was really looking forward to seeing all the new furnishings but it feels like there are too few.
I like the high isle cushioned furnishings but the chair is missing.
The Sturdy style is missing a bed, all beds would be nice to have in both single and full versions.
The High Isle Bed Canopy Full with the red covers would have looked much better in blue to fit the style.
    • Do you have any other general feedback?
I would love to have more small/medium houses.
I hope that you will add a bigger selection of the furnishings already in the High Isle chapter.
      Please add structural pieces.

What are your general thoughts on new houses?

It's okay but too large and confusing, it lacks warmth. Mandrake Manor would have been an excellent house to give us for sale in the city. It's got a cozy factor to it and fireplaces in all the rooms which I love. And it's not overly large, it's a medium size home and the outside area is lovely.

What do you think of the new furnishings?

Love them but so few. There are so many great pieces that are missing and so many kitchen items that I'd love to have, like the new dishes, the ceramic pots, the vegetable baskets, the cabbages, etc.

Do you have any other general feedback?

I know it's set in stone but if there is any way to give us a Mandrake Manor replica home - I would buy it in an instant!

Yes! Come on ZOS. Pls kick some Npcs out of their houses and give us a small/medium house. A lot more people would buy it. Theres nothing against it to make two houses for sale in a city ;)

1: Structurals have been added to the dailies during 4Q for the last few years. Stands to reason they wouldn't be out with this Chapter.

2: 100% not enough items. what we will have access to buy/craft vs what is avail that is new we're talking a significant diff. IDK what zos is thinking... We've literally had ZONE dlc with more prints released than this Chapter. And that's sad.

What are your general thoughts on new houses?
I'm sorry, houses - plural? It's one house and one tiny room.
So, my thoughts: one giant house is just not enough. And it's just too big. Even 1000 slots wouldn't be enough to fill it.
Please, ZOS, add more different houses, big and small. Not for crowns, but gold. At least, like it was in Morrowind. You already have all the models you need. Just copypaste, fence it and sell. Please!

What do you think of the new furnishings?
I like it. Nice textures, and I like that we have 'common' and 'noble' furnighings alike. Yet some of them look a little... flashy. Like, look, we are at the island! Sea! So let's put compass on every free space! Oh, and we are bretons, so put trefoil as well!

Do you have any other general feedback?
More small houses for gold, please!
And a ship as a house! Just a ship, maybe with little sandy island. Not a ship with giant cave, ruins and stuff, too big for 700 slots.
To be the Chosen One really sounds like lots of fun,
But in the end you'll just be someone's lunch

What are your general thoughts on new houses?

Highhallow Hold is far too big, with a messy layout, the random boxes under the window are awkward and out of place, the walls should look more pristine. The inn room is fine, wish it was a little bigger like Golden Gryphon Garret.

What do you think of the new furnishings?

First of all, thank you for not one but two doors. A big door and a small door will shake things up in the housing community somewhat, and I expect the mausoleum to be used well in structural design too. The medallion will be a cute little keepsake to add to tables. The new stack of books is GORGEOUS and thank you for making the recipe so cheap. The big bed is quite nicely detailed. I am happy about the new food and kitchen furnishings, those are my favorite ones.

The lamp post is quite odd with massive spikes coming out of it, bit out of place for a vacation island. The triquetras and Celtic knots on the rugs are very beautiful, and I will be beelining towards the herb rack ladder, great addition. The full length mirror feels a little too similar to the Breton mirror already in game, should have some gilding like the wall one. The divider is similarly not fancy enough for a vacation island and could use some more snazz.

Do you have any other general feedback?

To add my voice here with everyone else: We want more small & medium houses and plots of land. Specifically a beach plot. Hells, you could give us a 40x40 plot of open water and we would be happy. One of the druid cottages, with a little yard around it, akin to the Ald Velothi Harbour House would be perfect. The Mage's Guild is a very nice building as well, or one of the commoner houses around Gonfalon Bay. And Tor Draioch would be a very nice medium house that many people would want, doing Ember's quest to unlock buying it perhaps.

More furnishings as well, there are lots of new assets around the zone I noticed that are not available as furnishings. Examples below:

    0e99fecxolp6.png

The lectern and sigil on the ground, very fine for any mage build or a library or Daedric area.

    akiq6dvnfr81.png

This massive crystal, perfect for any mage themed build or making a mine.

    oskpp24178p4.png

This bone structure over the door, to throw some intimidation factor around.

    30znurqtzekc.png

These tomato plants, they're very cute and would work nicely for making a farm or garden!

    x00fwnrus639.png

This maormer tent, it is quite sleek looking.

    4u239vlqtwnx.png

These sunflowers, they were talked about heavily on the stream but!! are not!! available!!

    3d8ubltaukns.png

This other stack of neat HD books, the orderly one.

    opm8srhdna44.png
    ms1ynp9tjw44.png

Literally any of these papers, more paper furnishings, these are beautiful.

    x94anbxx2fmd.png

This hammock, it would be nice to have a hammock that isn't the Wood Elf one!

    dc92l106i8t9.png

One of the druid shrines, maybe as the reward for finding all the ones around the isle.

    vin139zpmfyo.png

This maormer shrine, or just the coral strands, I've seen them around everywhere and they're adorable.

    6hca43x3i273.png

This druid donut, would go really nicely with the druid statue furnishing.

    u711ozok9mrq.png

The onions, the chopped carrots, the mushrooms, the melons, the cauldron.

    zro2c6ovu4tw.png

These oven steamer things. I just love all kitchen furnishings.

    jty5zb1lteik.png

This weapon rack of spears, please give us weapon furnishings.

    q8kpxuxpaxuj.png

This statue, big beautiful and badass.

    q0pjq45mr5h0.png

The fish dish, so beautifully made, perfect for a banquet table or a coastal home.

    92jmitlhv3jz.png

    This fireplace, very cozy looking.

    e3mufs5j4zkw.png

This statue, racially ambiguous and badass looking.

    nyljczzgxb73.png

Literally any of the Breton knightly order shields/banners.

    ui4vl1x4ii61.png

These lightposts would have been more aesthetically fitting for an island chapter!

    hlm5ovsyp8rs.png

Maormer banner! We got three maormer furnishings already which is already double what we have now, but I really like this banner.

    h53feabjidm8.png

This laundry basket, perfect for making houses feel a little more homey.

    nsr45kc1ol5c.png

This little dock bell would be a really great addition for towns!

    52qmu0kbcmu7.png
    tmd24hgsoofa.png

These gondolas, so cruel you gave us the oar and not the gondola to go with it!!

    6cjcjjdedq4d.png

This pitcher full of...milk? would go nicely on a banquet table.

    9wugv3zuary2.png

These jousting lances! Totally new and super thematic for the chapter, would go perfect in a Pantherfang Chapel!

    b56wbaqrcc6g.png

These sunflowers in this little pot, WHY ARE THERE NO AVAILABLE SUNFLOWERS!

    xtazwjmlbvc8.png

And lastly, this cute little banner with a ship on it!

You guys are just trolling us at this point. How many times are we gonna have to say it? Stop making houses that are too big for the furniture limit! If you can't do that then give us more empty lands so we can do it ourselves. Btw, not making an empty beachfront land for High Isle is a huge missed opportunity.

    Read this, Zenimax.

We need an open high isle property, preferably with a beach. Let us get creative.

Id like it to have a throne room plz
