Ancestral Breton = Bonus Loot?

So according to this phrasing it sounds like Ancestral Breton chapters will drop as Bonus Loot during the Excavation stage, rather than being the Lead itself. Is this actually the case or is the wording misleading and this Motif drops as Leads like all the others?

Somewhat relevant: a long long time ago I was digging for some non-motif thing in Reach and got motif as bonus loot. Unfortunately, I don't remember which one was it. Never had motif as bonus ever since.

Judging by the number of antiquities items in High Isle, it looks like the pages are probably treasure chest gated leads, like we've come to expect.

It's inconsistent, highly misleading and treasure maps as sources were never mentioned. It was also never mentioned that special collector's edition treasure maps have an entirely different loot table and will never drop a lead for such motifs.

I hadn't remembered them being worded like that, but as the person above me said, that phrasing is VERY misleading. Occasionally dropping while digging for Antiquities implies the Excavation phase, not "digging up treasure chests" if that's what it's supposed to mean.

This needs to be worded differently if the Motif is a Lead like all the others. "This Motif can occasionally drop as a Lead from <insert relevant Treasure Map>" or something along those lines.

As an aside, I do wish bonus loot stood the chance of being more valuable like this. All I’ve ever gotten is junk, and it’s to the point I wish excavation would end immediately after you’ve dug up what you were looking for.

Yes, the wording for Antiquity motifs has always been poor, but I suspect that Ancestral Breton pages will be acquired via lead, just like the other Ancestral motifs.
