The game is great, it attracts many new players, but when these players see what's IN the game, they'll quit. The more patient ones may, however, remain.
Remember that ESO had its downs, after which there was an up, for clearly ZOS learned its lesson and for some time it was great. Maybe it's time for another down, so that they can have an opportunity to learn their lesson anew.

Cards I don't yet have. Really hope there aren't card packs in the crown store. Would rather have all the cards be easy to acquire but matches coming down to how you use them rather than there being some perfect must have meta deck every time they add more cards.
A chunk of XP as well, somewhere around the amount you get for doing a daily quest per match of the card game.
Maybe the option to gamble up to 100K gold with other players, maybe sneak in a gold sink, taking something like 5 - 10% of all gold placed on bets as a fee that gets deleted from the games economy.
I just hope there is some sort of interface that allows me to play with others without having to be standing right next to them, I would lose all interest in it right away if I had to hunt down other players to interact with in the same way as duels or trading is handled, not to say you can't still manually challenge people I just don't want that to be the only option for how it will work.2 -

No carrot, no one will be playing it, it is that simple.
I personally will be an a "all of the above player". Transmutes, new cards, crafting mats (all the way to gold would be nice), surveys, new sets etc.
I can't PvP as I don't have the reaction times necessary at my age to be anything other than a portable tea bag. I don't do any world bosses if I can help it as even in the base zones I get owned easily unless there are others there. Dlc world bosses I'm not even gonna try unless there is a LARGE group there for similar reasons, plus I hate it when they reset. Veteran content is WAY out of my ability too, my greatest achievement so far is maelstrom arena on normal and I only died 5 times; I never went back.
What do I do? I craft because it doesn't require me to "get gud" and I don't die while doing it unless I fall off something high. I do overland questing and I am starting to think I am one of the very few that enjoys the casual pace of it. The occasional normal dungeon for transmutes but I delete my character when they get to level (healer or tank) at 45 so as to never get a dlc random.
I did not set out to write a novel, so sorry for the long reply, but just playing for fun will not get my attention as there is so much "fun" content I cannot do in the game as it is. i really hope im never forced to acknowledge its existance.
it also makes me furious that they are adding this to a game with the bare bones of critical mmo systems and features.
