It actually makes me quite sad how zero thought is put into these sorts of things.

Just because you don't agree with their decisions, doesn't mean that "zero thought" was put into them. It just means that they weren't thinking about it the same way you are.
Who came up with this idea and thought that more than 100 spider parts in 2-3 days will motivate/reward/delight a player base ...

Personally, I'm barely noticing the spider parts. To me, they're the same as the other filler that's always been in these event loot packs. Nothing new, nothing to upset me, nothing to feel insulted by. /shrug
I open the boxes for the crafting mats, motifs, and furniture plans. Which are all still there.

(especially now that I've seen the event note that additional Saberkeel drops in a single day are replaced by spider parts. So I know that whenever I see a spider part as the third item in a normally-two-items box, it was probably a plan drop. And that's another thing - most of my spider part drops are a third item in the box. So they're not 'taking away' the usual common mat + other item. So there's nothing to stress or be upset about. /shrug)

    Eh, whatever. No biggie.

I've done another 128 boxes today, another 30 spider parts, so that's 86 spider parts in two days.

    86

I only need 3 for the pet.

I have 83 pieces (in just 2 days) that are worthless, I cannot vendor them. I cannot give them away as everyone else has loads and the idea that after the event people can still buy the 4th bit for tickets is laughable. The people who will want it will be newbies who don't have spare tickets.

The spider is ill thought out spam, nothing more nothing less. I have the pig from the Jesters Festival so wasn't affect by that but that those that were have gone from nothing to glut in the space of a few days.

It's badly written programming based on poor decisions. The drop rate needs looking at urgently for all events. All of them.

It's time for an overhaul of how these drops work, because the last two events have shown they are not working.

    35 boxes on 4 characters:
    - 1 spider part
    - no style pages
    - 3 cheap and common motif pages like Daggerfall Covenant and Sapiarch
    - 1 blue Argonian furnishing plan with a market price of ~2500 (PC/NA)
    - 20 clam gall + 20 powdered pearls was the best loot so far

I think part of the problem is how accessible the boxes are in the first place. Jester boxes can only drop 7 * number of characters * number of days the event runs + number of characters while Jubilee can drop 50 * number of characters * number of days the event runs, and the easiest, fastest quests for Jubilee are much easier and faster than the easiest Jester quests.

Tl:dr - I think we might have been okay if they’d switched the rates on the sow and the spider.

And since they drop in a third slot in the loot box, they're not costing me anything besides a couple spaces in my bag. I'll "mark as junk" and delete them with a single click at the end of the event. So, if it weren't for the fact I'm keeping track of drops, they'd have disappeared into background noise already.

Honestly, I'm more annoyed by bait & provisioning drops in the "common material" slot. But that's just because I don't have craft bag, so I'll be deleting those every day. And it's still minor in the grand scheme of things.

56 boxes (writs on 8 alts)
1 Saberkeel page (on my first character, just like yesterday)
    8 spider parts
    10 motifs
    12 furniture plans

I don't sell my motifs or plans, so their value is in whether I've read them or not. So I got half a dozen new of each on my main, and the others will be read on the various alts. Any extras I'll delete.

The only reason for it having so many spider parts is imo, that they don't have to give out more of the better stuff. That is the problem with ZOS, I always had, that any attempt by them being generous is at the same time as well non-generous. They just cannot be genuinely generous, which is a shame actually. If they want to gift a spider, then for the sake of it, give us the spider and not a DIY kit, which clogs up all the spaces for eventually better stuff. This is just annoying.

The other bit that I think is sad/unhelpful/just straight up mean is that someone took the time to code to prevent anyone getting good rng with the new style pages (I.e. more than one a day). Why was that necessary?

Event ticket sales. Style pages are hard to get, so maybe you will buy event tickets to complete style. Spider parts are easy to get, but you can't combine them without spending event tickets, so maybe you will buy event tickets to complete it.

As far as I can tell from watching the drops, the "bonus" slot the Spider drops in is shared with Saberkeel pages & Transmute crystals (at least, I've not had two of those at once yet. Of course, you can only get one Saberkeel page per day, and they've explicitly said that any more style pages you roll will be replaced by Spider.)

So the Spider parts seem to only be removing the chance at a transmute crystal or two. (but there's no guarantee that any part you see would have been a crystal otherwise) Ooh, aah?

The Worm Cult style material looks like it's a fourth drop slot.

That is just another example of them being non-generously generous - why can't they just be genuinely generous. This is like a compliment containing a "but" - it kills the good intention.

Excess spider parts and dup's on the Saberkeel motif. I've decided to just get my tickets and stop once I see the event motif. With the poor drop rates on so many items it isn't worth my time to try and is just another indicator to me of how out of touch ZOS has become with the player base.

I just don't get how anyone can even remotely try to defend the spider parts deluge, but sadly that's why Zos can do what they do, someone will always come to their defence and says its OK, and that one post is the one that seems to be used to justify what they have done, rather than the hundreds of post asking why?

The deluge of parts is totally unnecessary and just pointless, if over the course of the event I got maybe 3 or 4 of each it wouldn't be too bad as i'd be able to help put those that didn't get them but enough to make 28 of them in two days is a little excessive.

I'm afraid if I was in charge of whoever programmed this I would be asking why? Why does someone need 86 bits of spider in two days when they are only need 3 over the course of 12 days. Surely Zos must know a lot ofnplayers will do crafting writs on all their characters every day to maximise drops? They must have data on previous events, and so either are not making use of that data or just think we - the players - will only get a few boxes a day.

They should have been fragments, there should be no ticket element to it and once got you should never see them again.

Wow this year the content of the boxes are disappointing at best.
154 boxes in 2 days on EU : 20 spider parts, some cheap blue furniture blueprints, some motifs mostly glass style and here and there one rosin or one alloy.
    21 boxes on Na : 7 spider parts,5 motifs,7 blueprints (blue cheap.)

I had better memories from last year from these boxes.

I wanted nothing to do with this spider pet. I'm mad at myself for thinking if I created it, the parts would stop dropping. Boy was I wrong. I'm annoyed the parts keep dropping when maybe something else could be there in its place. I'm further annoyed they removed Worm Cult motifs.

140 boxes yesterday. One Saberkeel page, probably 35ish spider parts, 20ish motif pages ranging from Sunspire to Wayward Guardian to Fang Lair to Stags of Z'en, and a few furnishing patterns I didn't know.

72 boxes this morning. No Saberkeel, a dozen spider parts, a handful of pages. The most exciting extra loot was a potent nirncrux.

I spent tickets yesterday on a dragon pet fragment but evidently I should be spending them on Saberkeel pages with this drop rate. Yikes.
PC NA, CP2200+. Character creation is the true endgame.

Couldn't you guys at least assign a vendor value to those spare parts so they're not just so much unused junk. I mean they're golden... Surely vendors would pay 500g a piece for them? :)

I don't know how much coding would be involved but we would sure appreciate something like that.

The sarkheel pages will be valuable because no one one will be able to get them except players with tons of accounts or people who don't want them to learn.

This kind of scarcity does not bring joy. It brings annoyance and contempt for ZOS.

As for the firepot spider, I've got over 100 of each piece. It doesn't bother me, but the fact that I got to spend 5 tickets for instructions so I can put them together is ridiculous.

Actually kiralyn it doesn’t necessarily mean that at all. I may well be 100% wrong. They may have put loads of thought into it (which is actually worse in terms of them being in touch with the player base if they thought hundreds of unsellable duplicate parts which are useless without spending tickets would be really popular).

It is also possible that you may well be wrong. Regardless, I genuinely feel disappointed and disillusioned by how a festival I have enjoyed since I started actively playing in 2015 has been polluted with this spam drop. I am also unhappy with the artificial manipulation of rng to limit you to a max of one per day on the style pages, unless again you spend tickets. I was very happy with how the festival used to be, some boxes were alkahest/potatoes, and some had motifs or good stuff. The addition of this spam has not increased my enjoyment in anyway.

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

I'm seeing the exact same thing, but looking at it a bit differently. We're essentially guaranteed 1 style page a day. If we're on every day we will hopefully complete our set and earn a few extras to trade if we don't. Those extras will actually have value unlike previous anniversary events. This is ZOS doing us a favor and creating a system where the style pages will actually be desirable over time. Yes, the spider will be incredibly easy to create, but only during the event. The last piece is locked to the Impressario so the extra pieces are basically worthless when the event is over, but many pets are worthless afterward anyway (looking at you bunny).

As for the event being a waste of time, we must be participating in different events. I've received multiple motif pages, mundane runes, potent nirncrux, perfect roe and tons of smaller mats that all add up and I'm only on my 5th toon of the day. I already consider that a win, but I suppose that's subjective.

The spider parts drop rate is an example of how poorly thought out seeding is in this game. I anticipate having 200-300 of each part by the end of this event. That is absolutely ridiculous. If they didn't stack I'd be ready to go postal.

As for being guaranteed a style page, I don't think that's correct. I opened up 35-40 boxes today on an alt account and got no style page. I did get a bunch of spider parts though!

I have 3 accounts and have gotten style pages 5 out of a possible 6 times so far. Likely, but not guaranteed.

@iPlayOnlyESO I should probably edit that part of my post slightly. ZOS has mentioned that the spider instructions will always be available at the Impressario, however, I still assume they are only available during events, which will limit the availability of the pet between events. It may always be available during event times, but it will be locked at all other times.

No it will be available at all times, they are moving it to her assistant, but outside of events how many new players will have spare tickets to get it?

Yea, the result of RNG control is that now have stacks of useless pet parts and no additional chances to get the style pages today. And this is just after the first couple hours of day one of the event.
    Same :(

This limitation is just stupid. It would help if at least:
A - We would get different Sabarkeel motif page each time, so no duplicates. So within 7 days we would have guaranteed to have all pages.
B - No limit per day, but the reward would switch - every time you get motif page, the next you will get a firepot part - but after getting firepot part - the motif page would drop next.

Btw. Looking at the prices of Saberkeel style pages on guild traders, it seems that this is something that ZOS is going for. To make prices go up, so more people would buy Event Tickets from the crown store. And this is not just the Saberkeel motif. It is pretty much every single thing. Because crafting motives & mimic stones are in the crown store too. I am surprised that no one is talking about this. At least this is something I have noticed. Prices on everything were (and are) going up.

I'll never buy event tickets from crown store. I'll just go without.
