Is this due to the note in the event page that says once we get a style page for the new armor set we'll get a spiderpot fragment instead. So they limit us to one style page for the new set, and then all drops get bumped over to spider parts.

Edit: Yes, that is indeed what it says.
    5XjSyqP.png
So once you get a style page for the new set, any drop that would have been another style page will instead be a spider-pot pet. And this is not done for our convenience to get the pet, this is more RNG shenanigans to take something that already sucks: depending on RNG and make it worse so they can get us to spend more tickets (and possibly crowns) by not getting all of the pages by the end of the event (when we start getting doubles instead of the final pages we need).

Based on what I've seen, it's 2-3 slots.
    1) common material
    2) good item (motif, uncommon+ mats, style mats, furniture, etc; can include the spider?)
    3) % chance bonus item (spider part, Worm Cult style mat, transmute crystal; maybe the Saberkeel style as well?)

Anyway, out of 56 boxes (8 alts x 7 writs), I got 12 spider parts, 9 motif pages, 12 furniture plans, 1 food recipe. And one Saberkeel page on my first character.
I've gotten a spider part, 2 mats, a furnishing plan and a transmute in a single box.

Hmm. Well, so much for that theory. :D
Still, the vast majority of the boxes I opened seemed to fit the pattern. /ponder

(I wonder if the "bonus item" roll can try again if it succeeds.)

Don’t you think there is quite a large area between “you have all the parts plus more in the first hour” and “you weren’t even close after seven days of farming”. Both are miles from the ideal.

Yea, the result of RNG control is that now have stacks of useless pet parts and no additional chances to get the style pages today. And this is just after the first couple hours of day one of the event.

Consider yourself lucky. I haven't had the style page, and I have no additional chances to get it today because the EU server is down.

On the plus side (!), I did enough writs with a couple of my characters to get the spider parts before being thrown off.

The parts are ofc dropping way too much, but the really silly thing is that when the event is over the Firepot Spider parts are going to be absolutely useless because you need that thing from the Impressario to make one!

I love that we can gift parts to new players/buy parts from guild traders for other pets from other events.

It is nice to be able to give a new person a nice pet and get pets that we may have missed in past events, but now we are going to have thousands of Firepot Spider parts just floating around in the game and no one will be able to use them until next year and that's IF they bring back the thing to assemble them! Seems like quite the oversight.

Hopefully they get things up and running in enough time to get more stuff earned today for you. I know they offered tickets you can put in for if you miss them, but there is more to the event than that. Good luck.

At this point I'm willing to do as you suggested and keep as many boxes as possible to open after the event ends, in the hopes that I will get useful drops instead of spider spam.

With all the issues on EU I was only able to drop off writs (yesterday's and today's) on 9 characters, and I already have enough parts for 5 spiders.

Well, thing is, the problem is ZOS almost perverse love for RNG. It can't be too hard to make one style page per day a guaranteed drop per account, that way making sure everyone gets as many as days they do the event, and can then trade if they get the "wrong" parts doubled, and missing some part. Whatever is left over will be sellable, though obviously not at outrageous prices, which suits me fine.

As for the spider pet - just sell it as is for the same amount as the final part. Not sure why they want to drown us in spider legs. :P

I am up to my eyeballs in spider parts but still no Saberkeel page. :-(

I think the spider parts are dropping like crazy because you cannot complete spider without paying tickets. So I think they want to make sure that everybody, even the most casual players, has the spider parts, and thus the incentive to spend 5 tickets more than they usually would (and then maybe buy tickets from crown store if they find yourself short on tickets for something else). It just feels like yet another way to take the fun out of events and push you toward spending crowns.

They could definitely make sure you get a style page once per day, even make sure you never get a duplicate if they wanted. I mean, they coded it to give people spider parts after they get one page, so they could have done something to actually benefit the customer instead of the company.

I think it's just that the drop rates are low enough that the combos are rare. If you have a 10% chance of a furnishing plan and 10% of motif (made up numbers) there's only a 1% chance of both together.
I suppose there could be other implementations, but I've gotten various combos that make me think each "type" is its own separate roll. And the spider parts seem to be in their own category, maybe with the style pages, but definitely not with the plans/motifs/mats.

Exactly this large area is the fun part.
No, the large discrepancy between both extremes is not "fun", it's frustrating. There's this thing called balance, something ZOS has repeatedly shown it doesn't understand. It's always that something is so rare you might as well resign yourself to not getting it, or drops so often you're drowning in it on the first day. This happened with the Companion Styles, which they eventually moved to the grab bags, because people were getting dozens of the damn things. Now it's like that for the Firepot Spiders.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_Kevin
Can you guys ask the devs why some holiday fragments go into our inventories and others go into the Collections? Why can't they ALL go into the Fragments tab? That's literally what it's there for. The Sow goes there, each year's morphing Pet goes there, most other holiday things go there. Why is it that these don't? I guess it's because any of the Saberkeel pages you get after the first turn into them? But why can't we just be allowed to get the pages repeatedly instead of the Firepot pieces? You guys have to realize this is just another thing that makes it look like ZOS is pushing people to the CS, right? Maybe stop letting marketing decide everything.

Also, why is that Worm Cult got moved to grab bags only, when this was the EXACT THING that people complained about with Hollowjack? Did the devs think people would forget or something? I've had the Motif complete for years now, but for people who are just starting on collecting it, they're largely screwed. Why did the devs not do for Worm Cult what they did for Hollowjack; introduce a new Writ that can drop from reward boxes (one that doesn't replace any normal rewards and instead can drop alongside them) that people can do and rewards a guaranteed Worm Cult chapter? Literally the same solution as we have for Hollowjack, but again this makes it seem like people are being pushed to the CS for tickets so they can afford to get whatever Pet/Mount/Style pages they need/want as well as getting Worm Cult chapters.

Which is all very well but as the people who won't have it are new players the chances of them having spare tickets is low. Would have been much better to make it 8 pieces which need to be combined and turned into a runebox or better still just make it fragments so once got we see no more parts of it.

If it means someone can't get it so what, I'd personally like to see more exclusive items that if you don't play you don't get and can't get in the future. I like that the indriks haven't made a return and I hope the same applies for the stuff from last year.

So we go from the unobtainable Sovereign Sow to the too common Firepot Spider. Having opened two days crafting writ boxes on 5 characters I have around 10 bits of spider.

    And one style page.

Thats right instead of getting multiple style pages of the new Saberkeel style you can get one a day. Then you get Spider parts, lots and lots of Spider parts.

Another example of things being thought through poorly....

Plus you have to waste 5 event tickets to complete it.

Look... We all know that balance isnt a great quality in this game... But this is ridiculous. First the sow is absolutely impossible to get all 7 fragments in one event, and now they rain spider pet parts on us to the point it is basically suffocating any other potential drops... This is not what we wanted. We wanted moderation, and a drop chance to actually obtain the pet from Jester's Festival, but not to the extreme to end the event with 40 pieces of the bloody thing like they are doing with the firepot spider. I have probably enough now to make 5 spiders... Halfway through day one... Wut...
