Here's a Fun Bug That'd Make for a Good Cosmetic Option.

Was fighting AD in Cyrodiil and reclaiming territory as per usual. Then I mounted up while the flag on a resource flipped and... suddenly my character didn't mount "correctly". Honestly, I wasn't even mad or confused... I wanted my character to kind of stay this way! Afterall, when wearing a long dress riding a horse the "normal" way is a very bad idea.

With High Isle coming up and all the Breton Noble stuff most likely gracing our most hated wonderful crown store wouldn't it be great if there was a personality that effected your mounted stance?

Edit: And sadly this bug fixed itself once I started moving. :heartbreak:

Weren't women in dresses who rode a horse ride them with someone actually 'controlling' the horse? It seems it would be really hard to properly direct a horse seated like that, or to stay in the saddle of they go faster than a canter.

Not that riding a mount in a dress the normal way makes any sense either.

No side saddle riding still allows you to control the mount. The saddle is slightly different to a regular saddle, as you have a section to hook your leg on (I'm not a rider, but have seen some amazing videos of people riding side saddle)

I rode sidesaddle some years ago - in a parade or two (so at a walk). It's not easy - the muscles you use are completely different from what you use when mounted astride - and no, I never rode any faster than a walk! I've seen videos of women riding sidesaddle and galloping, even jumping - and let me tell you that's flat terrifying to consider.... even when I was much much younger!

A sidesaddle has (as fizl101 stated) a pommel mounted to the left saddle skirt, to enable the woman to balance in place, and had only a single stirrup:

And yes, I've always wanted my mages in games to ride sidesaddle if female and in robes.

I've seen this too with my character in Cyro.

I think it would be kind of neat if they introduced side-saddle riding on mounts. Not sure how they'd do it, but still a neat add.

Had an weird bug once there I kind of failed getting on the mount.

Looks like I'm standing beside the mount or perhaps having an foot in the stirrup if you stretch it.
Disappeared then I dismounted but weirdly I could talk to npc while like this.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I, too, would like a side-saddle for the times I am in a gown...which is quite often.

In the real world, a woman can control the horse just fine and it takes a bit of skill. It is, however, a more dangerous way to ride since you can be more easily un-seatted, especially if the horse suddenly shies.

I've seen this bug before and really wish I knew how to replicate it for taking pics, and also that they'd make a legitimate option. It's so much better looking when using robes and dresses.

There's also a minor cosmetic bug with the swashbuckler personality where you get on the mount and your character still does the idle pose with their arms while sitting.

While not a programmer, it "feels" like it would be tough to add as a way to permanently ride throughout the world, especially with two-person mounts coming. Maybe - maybe - it could be tied to a personality somehow.

However this game me another idea. Someone mentioned that this would be nice for pictures. I think it would be nice if we could at least get emotes for sidesaddle, and this could open up a whole new line of ideas for mounted emotes. Pause in a handstand on your mount, wave from your mount, juggle fire on your mount, etc. It would be even cooler if you could use them in places where mounts aren't typically allowed, and you could be mounted while the emote is active, and be immediately dismounted if the emote ends.

It seems easier to be purely cosmetic, but would be a nice bonus if you could use the emote while actually mounted in places where mounting is allowed, as well. I wouldn't complain though if it dismounted you, put you on your "illusion" mount for the emote, and then had the mount disappear. Would still generate all kinds of new possibilities for creative screenshots where both my pet and mount could be included. Seems fun.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.
