Im postpoing upgrade to Windows 11 as long as it can be done, afraid of various issues that might come with this next generation of Windows.

Has anyone tried playing ESO on Win11? Any noticable difference or perhaps issues?

Please share your experience.

I have the game minimize randomly sometimes, but can't say for sure it's not caused by some other software I got at the same time with the Windows upgrade. Otherwise I wouldn't say I noticed any difference for ESO, has been playing on Win11 since the end of December.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I see nothing in Windows 11 to tempt me to get it, Windows 10 on one machine and Windows 7 (with 0patch) run ESO and everything else fine. I've seen the usual mixed comments here about Windows 11, some say it runs ESO well, others have experienced issues. I'll be interested to see what responses you get, but Susan Bradley at AskWoody recommends avoiding it except on test rigs as it's still very much a work in progress.

I updated to windows 11 because I get tired of the constant messages to update. What I've noticed is... nothing... literally no difference. Sure the menu is different (your windows home button is in the center of the toolbar now! Wow! ...) but as for actual differencein gameplay? I've noticed no difference at all. The game is neither better or worse. Just if you're going to update, be ready to baby it. It'll periodically need you to push a button to continue the update for the whatever hours it took to do it.

I've been running Windows 11 since it was first available. Zero issues. All games work as before and I don't really notice any difference.

As usual though there is a lot of bloatware so uninstall it if you wish once it's done. I did just as I have for all previous Windows versions.

Yep. In fact, I'll be moving to some flavor of linux - I know several people playing ESO on linux, and rather than let MS do their continuing thing, I'd rather move back to steam which has a "native linux" setup one of my friends has said - much as I hate steam, I'm just so done with MS.

I’ve been wondering about this, too, and have postponed the update. Good to hear most people aren’t having issues.

I think I must have gotten a corrupt copy of Windows 11. I bought a brand new computer that had the ability to upgrade to Windows 11. So I upgraded, but I had constant crashes on ESO and occasional blue screens of death. Within 2 weeks of upgrading to Windows 11, my computer refused to boot, and I spent a couple days trying to repair it. Ultimately I had to reinstall Windows. Reinstalled Windows 10. Since then, everything has run smoothly.

I'm very wary of updating to Windows 11 again.

    I do not have Windows 11 but made a note of the following;

If you do not like the start menu in the middle you can move it to the left

Press Win + I keys on your keyboard to open Windows Settings.
Go to the Personalization page, scroll down to the Taskbar section and click Taskbar behaviors.
Go to Taskbar alignment and then change the option to Left.

Works fine, if anything it is an improvement. The only annoyance I found, is in how I configure my displays. I normally like my main display to be the one ahead, then drag my main taskbar over to my left screen. Win 11 no longer allows you to do that. So ESO opens on my left screen now that it is my main, and I have to manually move it to my other display each time. This is more of an issue on those games that don't allow you to move them off your main display.

0 issues on Windows 11. Well, the issue of having no clock on my second monitor is an issue I guess.

O issues whatsoever with 11 for me. Runs smooth all the time at the 100 FPS cap and never crashes, but that’s on a high end machine.

Yeah nothing changed between win 10 and win 11 for me... and once you are a little used to it win11 itself is not bad at all... upgrade it without fears

I upgraded to Windows 11 as soon as it was available, and I haven't had any issues with ESO because of it.

Just make sure you go into any settings you'd previously customized so you can recustomize them if needed. For example, I had gone into my WiFi network adapter settings and disabled the "Roaming Aggressiveness" because I have a desktop model and it doesn't physically roam around anywhere, so the last thing I want it to do is decide to drop my WiFi connection to the router while I'm in the middle of playing ESO because it temporarily thinks that the WiFi extender has a stronger signal. I had to change that setting again after upgrading to Windows 11, but after that initial upgrade it's stayed set the way I want it.

This. Windows 11 is basically Windows 10 with a new design (and a few issues).

The replies all seem to be based on there being no differences apart from the UI which you'll get used to. Has anyone actually found a reason to upgrade to Win11 yet?

The reason to upgrade anything is so you'll be on the most current version.

I don't get why some people are so intent on avoiding a Windows update. I mean, do you also avoid updating your phone, or your tablet, or your TV, or your Blu-ray player, etc.?

There's only a point in having the most current version if it adds something new or fixes something broken. The only reason so many upgraded immediately to Windows 10 and now to Windows 11 is because of a combination of Shiny New Toy Syndrome and them being free.

As the saying goes: "if it ain't broke then don't fix it." I wouldn't upgrade to Windows 11 even if my processor would allow it. I've seen the trend with Windows versions over the past couple of decades and it's usually a good version and then a skip version. Windows 95 - good, Windows NT - skip, Windows 98 - good, Windows 2000 and ME - skip, Windows XP - good, Windows Vista - skip, Windows 7 - good, Windows 8 - skip, Windows 10 - good... I don't care about whatever new bloatware or privacy intrusive features either as I always disable everything. I just want an OS that can run my programs, not "get to know me" and then steal and sell my data. And no, I don't update any of my other hardware or software immediately either unless it's absolutely needed, been shafted too many times with updates.

I did update to win11 on one pc. Game itself for half an hour didn't have problems.

Although win11 itself I didn't liked - it just doesn't fill finalized. With new UI can live(not happy, but can live), but some functionalities I use were missing or buried deep in menues, problems with second display, taskbar is half finished...

To downgrade had to go through rollback and "in-place upgrade to windows 10" to get rid of constant win11 upgrade download.

As @Tandor already pointed "If it ain't broke, don't fix it. "

If you don't want to be prompted for the upgrade, turn of TPM in your BIOS and it will stop asking, as your PC won't meet the requirements for Win 11.

0 issues on Windows 11. Well, the issue of having no clock on my second monitor is an issue I guess.

I've installed it mid-playthrough on 2 heavily modded Skyrim AE games without issue which to me says a lot. Well one issue, I did have one corrupt save to deal with which was fixed by going back one save but that's as likely to have been from all the mods as anything else. Over two installs of ESO and other games, it's been as though nothing new happened. If the taskbar hadn't moved you'd never know anything new was on your machine. So on that front Win 11 has been a dream in terms of transitioning.
