I upgraded to Windows 11 a couple months ago and have had zero problems with ESO, it's running the same as always (Steam version).

I do still have the problem with the launcher not closing properly but that was an issue when I was on Windows 10, too. :P Not sure what causes it but I was hoping Windows 11 would magically fix it.

The reason to upgrade anything is so you'll be on the most current version.

I don't get why some people are so intent on avoiding a Windows update. I mean, do you also avoid updating your phone, or your tablet, or your TV, or your Blu-ray player, etc.?

Not going to upgrade simply because my toaster is not capable, but then again I'm too cheap to buy a new one either...

I don't upgrade my phone (can't upgrade a landline as far as I know), or my tablet/TV/Blu-ray as I don't own one of them; I did mention I was cheap.

Windows 10 has been running my current rig without a reinstall now for over 13 years, thankfully Win 10 is stable enough to make me not have to.

This. As for the free flip phone AT&T gave me as they are moving to 5G - it doesn't work here (I have no LOS to the mobile towers) so why would I upgrade it? I use it maybe once every 3 years to call for road service.... And I have absolutely nothing else "upgradable" in my house besides my computer. Which gets security updates period. I AM looking at opatch though - because if this machine (8 years old and counting....) dies, the only other option I have is a win 7 laptop - meaning I don't allow it to access the internet for obvious reasons - so that would make ordering another built-to-spec difficult (no, there are no spec shops here) and I'm so not interested in a dell or hp pre-built from Costco.

Windows 11 adds automatic HDR to titles that do not support it natively, including ESO. And it works perfectly.
So reason enough to upgrade in my opinion.

If you've not the hw needed (win11 has some requirements on the hw) and therefore you need to pay money to upgrade then it's up to you, otherwise the update is free, it does not force you to reinstall anything, works smoothly and in a few words it has almost only pros.

Keeping a machine deliberately outdated will backfire sooner or later (can assure you, i say this out of personal experience). My actual rig was born as a win7, upgraded to win10 and now to win11, with a lot of little hw upgrades in the years. Never had to reinstall os once and it's working perfectly.

I always thought the same myself, but I am to the point in my life that I am placing bets on me kicking off before the computer or the very few games I play force the update. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to play with it from the grave, so I'm not that concerned :).

Well, i ve two kids who could use it one day (if they're not more interested in consoles as for now it seems :( ) and for the moment computer (along with gaming on it) is still my main hobby other than my job (i'm a sw developer), so it's definitely a matter of perspective :)

Anyway as the op was asking if it's safe to upgrade, the answer imo is most certainly yes... keeping in mind win11 has some requirements that could force him to an hw upgrade.

0 issues on Windows 11 as well.

Win11 is basically major update for task bar OS, yet not something completely new like it was before (95, xp, 7)

No issues using Windows 11 and, like others, I haven't noticed much difference. Most of the Windows 11 changes appear to be cosmetic and I have shifted the start menu to the left like others.

Less issues with Windows 11 so far than Windows 10 in my experience. Seems contrary to the narrative I see online lol.

Because Windows updates are notorious for causing more problems then fixing lol I can't remember how many times a windows update has wrecked my computer so badly I had to undue the update and do it over again. One time it messed up so badly it actually took out whatever thing in the computer that it uses to recognize wifi. I had to use my phone as a hot spot to fix it. Still don't know what the hell happened to this day. But blue screens, programs dying, and just problem after problem is not unheard of after a windows update. It's why some people, including me, are wary about updating it. It's not about not wanting to update your computer, it's just that it can be a pain to fix whatever problem it's going to cause. I would literally spend months not doing an update, because that's more preferable then watching an update happen and wonder how much of your computer you just broke in the process...

That's pretty bad luck, i use windows and keep it constantly up to date since pretty ever (well under xp things were a little more manual), never had serious issues and for sure nothing with recent os (win7+).

Yes, news of really problematic patches have hit the news every now and then (issues with updates are not frequent, but when they hit they make big headlines in the news). Either i've been lucky or they were fixed before i managed to install them... i'd be able to recover things rapidly, but somehow all the bsod i've heard of have happened to someone else.

For sure win11 upgrade is particularly smooth and looking at the release plan they're taking extra time to test it on the various hw before rushing (on a dell laptop i got it early December, on my gaming rig i've managed to install only it in late Jan - i could get it earlier but preferred to wait for it to appear as an update regularly).
Haven't heard a single real complaint about it so far.

"It has almost only pros" is five words.

    :D

Just kidding. I've had zero problems with Windows 11, aside from having to change one thing from its default setting to my preferred setting-- which I think is reasonable to expect after updating to a whole new version-- and the usual initial hunting around for certain things that have moved, which passes once you've familiarized yourself with the changes.

My bad, english is not my native language :D:D

The only thing ive found annoying is the new context menu, i've not bothered changing yet but should be just a matter of tweaking the registry unless a proper option is addedd

I have been with windows 11 since launch day. It did have issues in drawing of assets afterwards, but in general gamermode makes performance better on windows 11.

Start menu sucks so get start11

Before updating make sure you have pinned on taskbar what you want and created desktop shortcuts you want because in 11 it's unnecessarily harder.

Tldr: I gained performance updating windows to 11. Load screen were 20 percent faster and a tiny bit but noticable more frames

I have the game minimize randomly sometimes, but can't say for sure it's not caused by some other software I got at the same time with the Windows upgrade. Otherwise I wouldn't say I noticed any difference for ESO, has been playing on Win11 since the end of December.

Make sure you update your driver's like graphics driver. You got a driver outdated guaranteed.

Im postpoing upgrade to Windows 11 as long as it can be done, afraid of various issues that might come with this next generation of Windows.

Has anyone tried playing ESO on Win11? Any noticable difference or perhaps issues?

    Please share your experience.

We just had to upgrade our computers. We both got gaming computers and love them. They came with win11. I was terrified since till this week we had held out on win7.

Being in our 70's we considered giving up but the Geek Squad convinced us it would work. They took out the Telemetry and the bloat ware.

We only use them for playing and surfing the internet.

It's like a new world open to us. It's good for us without all the Word Excel and stuff like than set up was easy and we are playing today in less than a week.

    It's almost too fast. :)

I use Windows 11 and have no issues with ESO. I really like the changes in Win 11. If you never really got the whole "tile" aesthetic in Windows 10, you might feel the same. Win 11 is a lot more macOS-like.

The start menu in Windows 11 is my favorite change. It is 100% better. The search functionality is also a lot better.

ESO was virtually unplayable for me on Win11.

Frame rate dropped from ~90 - 120 fps to ~25. I tried all the new drivers etc.

This happened twice and both times I rolled back to Win10.

Windows 11 strips a lot of personalization features that 10 has. I downloaded explorer patcher - https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher so I could drag my taskbar to my non-primary monitor.

    No problems running ESO though.

I've been on WIn11 since it officially released and have had zero problems with ESO or any other game.

Honestly other than some UI changes, a couple of BIOS settings requirements that were new and some under the hood stuff, WIn11 could just as easily been called Windows 10 Service pack X.x. It's really not much different than 10.
