I really like the design of crushing weapon and I would love to run it in PvP as a melee. Unfortunately, it is not viable for melee builds.
Why it isn’t viable:
- The 2 second duration is too short. If you are CC’d you will lose the buff and waste your global cooldown. There are many other mechanical issues with the 2 second duration.
- It only procs off of light attacks. This isn’t so much of an issue with ranged weapons, but melee light attacks often do not register because of latency or other back end issues. Additionally, many builds frequently use medium/heavy attacks as part of their rotation; making crushing weapon only proc from light attacks limits variety in play style.
Crushing weapon/ele weapon should operate the same way that crystal weapon does, it should have a 4 second duration and the ability to proc off of medium/heavy attacks to make it mechanically viable.
This is an awesome skill that still does not see use on melee builds at all. I think it’s a cool skill and often theorycraft with it, only to swap it out once I play test the build due to lack of mechanical viability. It’s a shame we can’t use a skill not because it is a bad skill, but because it doesn’t work.
