If you pay full price for ESO chapters you're not paying attention.

E.g. greenmangaming.com has a 22% discount for the new chapter atm.

Is it worth the discounted price? Well, that's hard to say considering how little we have seen of it. Per Rich this card game is a really "big system", but we have seen nothing except concept art so far.

I'm definitely waiting till it is on the PTS to decide.

It certainly sounds underwhelming so far, I don't imagine I will care about a card game within the game I play. The new companions might be fun, but if that's all this game has then I will wait till it becomes available through ESO+.

This question is a little biased, and more or less already covered by the general feedback thread.
I've enjoyed every chapter i've played and there's no reason next one should be different, so it's a yes for me.

No. Greymoor and Blackwood weren't worth their price either. The last reasonably priced Chapter was Elsweyr 3 years ago.

Yeeeep, I’d give blackwood year (cp2.0 + companion) and greymoor year (antiquities) a pass cause pandemic but this one is not worth it.

I respect people that want the ccg but personally I won’t be paying full price for it.

You could always wait half a year later when it drops to 33% to 50% discount or close to the end of the year when it drops to 67% off or a full year later when it becomes a DLC content. If the Tie-in card game requires High Isle expansion, it's going to flop hard; antiquities is entirely different as its a solo activity, the card game needs player vs player interaction to succeed not just against NPCs. If there aren't enough players with it unlocked, its going to dwindle out of existence.

I will get 200+ hours out of the High Isle chapter. At $39.99 that's $0.20 per hour.

To me, $0.20 per hour is worth it.

No idea how you can get 200 hours out of a Chapter when the story can be done within 10-15 hours. I'm curious. I'm someone who's reading all the quests and none of the Chapter zones main story took more than 10 hours for me to finish. Add another 10 hours (being generous here) for the side quests and maybe another 10 hours (being generous as well) for the delves, world bosses etc. and you can get ~ 30 hours out of a Chapter.

I don't think any ESO Chapter is honestly except for Morrowind as it's now included with the base game for £5 most of the time (Was not worth it at launch).

Won't stop me buying it though. I do still enjoy them, even if they're way too pricy for what they are. They just don't really compare with what a typical MMO Expansion is, hence why they called them 'chapters' but kept the expansion price tag.

I think having a reductionist argument of the Chapter doesn't really reflect the content you are buying.

To the question, sure. But each of us is a single consumer, so individually we make a call on the Chapter's worth.

I'm more of an explorer/dungeoneer/thief type, so I'm looking forward to exploring nooks and crannies, dusty caves/ruins, and rummaging through towns to find treasures and recipes.

I don't think so at the moment, but I'm waiting to see it on the PTS to decide what it's worth to me, then I'll look for somewhere reliable selling it around that price.

The big question for me is how big the new map is. I'm very pleased that it's taking us somewhere new which hasn't featured in an Elder Scrolls game before, but right now an atoll and one other island doesn't sound like much to explore. I'm also undecided on the card game. I like the idea of more mini games and other 'down time' activities in ESO but a collectable card game wouldn't have been my first choice, so I want to see how it actually works before deciding how much I want to pay for it.

Fortunately I don't want the pre-order bonuses so I'm in no hurry to make up my mind, I'll wait and see what we're getting first. I'm definitely going to get it eventually, the question is when and how much I'll pay.

    I will not vote, because:

    - I don't preorder, as preorder boni and cardgame do not attract me (I preordered Blackwood and bought it for a second account)

    - cardgames are nothing I like. For the island itself, it depends:

If it is as well done as Summerset, I will buy it after release (PTS videos serve as decision base)
    Well done for me means:
    - visually pleasing
    - delves quick and not as huge as in Blackwood, so you quickly can finish them for dailies
    - dailies reward a *guaranteed* reward of rare furnishing mats, like Summerset (Blackwood does not, was my biggest disappointment)
    - - the former point requires nice furnishing plans, if they are just obtainable by stealing like in Blackwood: a no-go.
    - Worldbosses you can solo like in Elsweyr (In Blackwood I often cancel daily WBs, too annoying in this often deserted region)

If these points are met, I will buy despite the lack of cool features like a new class, otherwise I wait for a discount in autumn.

For me it is not worth it. When Morrowind update was announced, I bought physical collectors edition, and I have no regrets, Summerset the same. Elsweyr and Greymoor was digital collectors editions, (and if I knew how Greymoor would turn out, I would never chose collectors edition) , but Blackwood was just upgrade, and it was barely worth it. For this, I will definitely not preorder, but will look at pts, maybe buy chapter when it will be discounted after a few months. My main issue is amount of land ( compare isles to nearby Summerset), card game as main feature, only two new companions, no new male companion, no major qol features for pvp( anything at this point) and housing( slots and storage). Also, with each new chapter, we get less settlements and cities ( compare Vvardenfell to Blackwood), less interiors in cities too. In some ways game blossomed over the years, but in some is in continuous decline, so things showed as chapter selling points are just not enough to make me buy it.

This will be the first time I don't preorder a DLC. What I saw the other day on Twitch was... underwhelming. The story is not very interesting, and visually it was nothing unique or interesting. I also don't understand why a very important part of breton lore, which is how magically skilled they are, keeps getting ignored in all breton areas only to treat them as your run of the mill medieval fantasy human race. It makes me think the people developing these stories have very little grasp of Elder Scrolls lore, which is amazingly rich.

Then there is the card game. I confess I was thinking of preordering it until I saw the card game. It completely put me off.

I miss the days of Morrowind DLC. I've never liked these year long stories split in two tiny areas and two DLC dungeons. They've grown more stale with each new release. It's basically an area, some quests, 6 delves, a couple of group delves, world bosses and your anchor-substitute. It's the same thing over and over again. The area is so small I can explore it in a single day. The awesome thing about Elder Scrolls games was how huge they were, and I am aware this is a DLC, but then Shivering Isles and Dragonborn were relatively large maps with plenty of content to do. Wrothgar and Morrowind were very good DLCs. Summerset felt small, but ok, it's a beautiful area. Northern Elsweyr feels empty, and S.Elsweyr is tiny, but they're okayish. Everything after that is utter meh. Not keeping my hopes high for this one, so I might as well pass and see what happens.

No not worth it for me. £40+ for a couple of hours questing and a card game seems like a rip-off for me. Only things of interest will be the new mythic items and perhaps the trial, just not enough really and it's quite embarrassing for an MMO like ESO.

The chapter will be much cheaper after about 2-3 months after launch once a flood of players run out of things to do as per usual given these last few chapters. Best to wait until then I'd say to pick it up you'll probably be much happier for it.

Man, again, I really hate feeling down on this new chapter but from everything I've seen I'm not looking forward to it. I'm still on the fence but at the end of the day I'm sure I'll purchase (more details to learn about too).

I don't think a card game is a selling point compared to years past (companions were a big let down imo too).

I didn't watch the reveal, so I'm not sure if it is worth the price, but based on what I've read thus far, I'm going to say "no." The only new feature is the card game and the sets aren't very exciting, so this may be the rare occasion that I don't pre-order the DLC.

This feels more like $20-30 worth of content than the same $40 I paid for Elsweyr which came with a new class. So while I really want to play the High Isle storyline, I'm seriously considering waiting for a sale.

The last time ZOS did a survey, I told them the chapter price was a big sticking point when they keep saying they are doing smaller features. My guess is that ZOS has decided on a base $40 price no matter what features there are. For me, that's a problem when the special features are supposed to justify why this is a cash-only Chapter and not a DLC included in ESO+.
