You mean like chests, delves, books that start quests?
Coz, you know, like, that's already totally there. If you bother exploring
I will never understand these reviews. They all say ESO is to much of a single player game. Then in the next breath say they don't like to see other people in the dungeons.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.Who cares? This review is fail. They rate Skyrim 9 and ESO 6 even tho ESO has better quests and combat etc.

If he really gave SWTOR an 8 at launch than that alone obliterates any worth his opinion would have for me.
Think I'll skip giving this review a look ^^
I love SWTOR, played it in January, 1 month after launch, and still loved it. I still love it to this day.
Bro, did you know that they closed the Star Wars Galaxy Server ( BIG FKN SANDBOX ) for this piece of crap ? In my opinion, Swtor is an unliked child only a mother can love.

It's because the game doesn't promote grouping in a good way. Dungeons are a great example of how seeing everyone is bad. Most of the public dungeons I've seen are already cleared up to the boss with a large number of people sitting around waiting for a boss to spawn, then the boss dies in .2 seconds. It's not that seeing other people is bad necessarily, it's that the way it is designed is bad. I can't group with my friends well (phasing inhibits my ability to help others) while I can't do a dungeon in stealth because by the time I'm set up to backstab, the mob is already dead and the rest of the room is destroyed by faceless players AoEing everything down in half a second.

Something tells me this game will see a big hit to its userbase in a few days, and then another equally big hit in another 30 days.
Considering that in all of the guilds i am in there is already roundabout 50% of the people who did already stop playing during the free month.
This is sad. If there was one game i wanted to succeed it was this one. So, unless ZO really gets their *** together about bots, bugs and phasing (and difficulty balancing), this will go down the drain rather quick.
I just cant imagine how they are planning to fix this. Phasing is so deeply integrated into their gamedesign that i dont see a way to repair the damage. And i also believe that all of the quest bugs are basically fixable, but the issues lies more on the scripting they use for it. So, as long as they will add in new quests (which i hope they will do) there will be those gamebreaking quest bugs.
The only problem that will fix itself is the bots. Where there is no players, there is no need to sell gold.

ESO isn't anything special. Combat and class customization are about the only 2 things it does right, but everything else brings it down considerably. I for one don't like that in PvE, stealth is useless. I don't like that I have 0 impact on the story (even though I get to make "choices" that don't matter). Guild functions are sparse (4 ranks (2 of which are officer/leader?), no bank limits (took my main guild all of a day before we ran into an issue here), guild history (lets promote people based on the shortest history log ever!). Story is bland, I expect a halfway decent story other than "he's bad guy, you hero, save day? HORAY!". PvE is very much on rails. You WILL go from point A to point B, zone x to zone y.
ESO does nothing special. It tries to be different and the same at the same time, and doesn't really do either very well. It tries to be an MMO (and fails) and it tries to be an ES game (and fails). I could forgive a run of the mill, average game a lot more if it didn't charge me a sub fee, lock a race behind a paywall (in a sub based game noless, and, offer different stats as well, P2W once a single % point changes imo). However, for $15/month + base game price, I expect something memorable. That's my short review though, and Kevin VO has his. If your smart, you'll read his, mine, and many many other reviews before buying any game.
RianaTheBosmer wrote: »There are many of us who don't agree with you in many of your points. When you leave, we'll be here playing and enjoying this "run of the mill" game.
Seriously, this is why ESO forums should be subscriber only. What you are presenting is your opinion on the game and trying to get others to not play a game that many, many of us like because you don't and several of the reviewers who played for 20 minutes don't like.
Seriously, I can see getting both sides and watching youtube vids before buying a game but I played 3 beta weekends and bought the game and love the game. Bashing a game you don't like, saying the story isn't good and that potential players should read your review and all the negative reviews on the ESO forums, is not cool at all.

The combat is mediocre. I've only played with staves, so I can't speak for melee, but it gets old quite quickly, especially when you're limited to a small amount of skills. You'll find yourself doing the same thing over and over and over again.
I agree with pretty much the rest of your post. However, I think before you condemn the combat, I'd suggest trying melee. I've done staves and I've done sword/board and 2h, and staves are definitely lacking imo. I always feel like my staff attacks have as much "power" behind them as a sparkler (lightning staff is the worst for this imo). Melee hits however, feel better imo. Staves are very boring, with the only good skill being pulsar and the rest are forgettable.

It's not hard to understand, ESO is an endless series of solo quests. The times you do have other people around, it's structured very badly (public dungeons) or does not give exp (4 man dungeons). In terms of basic design, it's a disaster.
A lot of the reason the game has turned out so poorly is I think Zenimax took feedback from some of the least knowledgeable people I've seen in 15+ years of playing mmos. The level of white knighting has certainly been self destructive for the game.
