Please move EU megaserver to Europe! // Develop New UI

emailgosurwb17_ESO
It is impossible to live in EU and play an online game without lags on US based server, it is just impossible. It is going against the laws of physics, unless you change existing cables to some new cables with higher bandwidth.

Whoever's idea was to keep EU megaserver in US should be fired in my opinion. When I found out that EU megaserver is going to be in US I knew we are going to lag, everybody knew it, except of TESO team.

I understand that you made some kind of system for us to feel that lag less, but this is only an illusion, when we come to actual fight we feel every bit of this lag. There is a physical distance between EU and US and you cannot shorten it with some coding tricks.

You cast a CC spell and it does not cast, you click again and again and then you see it casting twice, you spend magicka that you did not want to spend it twice, you wanted to cast this CC only once. And then when you do not have enough magicka to cast damage dealing skills, you are dead.
People are not mobs, you never know what is their next step, you cannot expect to know what to cast in advance.
Those micro seconds are so important in pvp, when to break CC when to cast CC, when to mist, when to teleport, when to use healing potion, block, roll... There are so many things in our arsenal, but instead the most successful pvp's are just clicking 1 damage dealing button on a range class, 1-1-1-1-1 dead.. No skill, no lag this way.

And what about Vampire drain? I have to click it sooo many times to make it work at least once?
For the sake of test, I was doing a fight with full HP and was trying to cast this drain and I died before I could do it at least once, my opponent kept hitting and hitting me and I was standing(not cc'ed) and was clicking this drain. It works absolutely random.

Now there is another problem, that is UI.
This game is great, it has the potential to become the number 1 mmorpg game with awesome pvp, but what you are doing now is creating a terrible image of this game for whoever is trying it.
I understand that it is very new and there are many things to fix now, but this was supposed to be one of the most important things that you should of planned ahead - the User Interface.

1- There are no proper descriptions of what skill does what, no descriptions of passives, no descriptions of mundus effects(detailed in%/number). Cmon there are even some passives that are not mentioned anywhere? How am I supposed to know what else is there?
I never played Elder Scrolls singe player version and then I accidentally find out that when I crouch and hit mob with a melee attack from behind I get a some kind of 3x damage multiplier?

2- You do not display Long term Buff Debuff, you do not display short term Buff/Debuff.

You need to sit and re-think of what is PvP, consult with some players if you do not know something. You cannot expect a game to be a good PvP game when you FORGET to display simple Buffs/Debuffs.

Now we have to download those add-ons and hope that they work, I know there are some good addons, but they are not doing the job, I guess they cannot have a complete accurate info of all buffs/debuffs for some reason.

Buff Menus that you have in "C" panel looks like menus from games decades ago. Sometimes buffs are there, sometimes not. Sometimes you see some new passives there, sometimes not.

The health bars are horrible too, I think it is impossible to do a proper PvP with UI that you offered to us.

I hope some of the developers read this and hopefully take a new path on updating this game and giving it a proper future that it deserves.

For now it looks like you made a PvE game and did not bother much about PvP.

Amazingly these 'laws' as you put it allow me to play WOW on US East and West Coast servers, as well as FFXI in Japan, FFXIV in Canada, LOTRO in the US (I think they're in Boston?) and ESO wherever that is in the US, all from the UK just fine: I also play GW2, and Rift and I don't recall where those servers are but I think probably Rift in in EUrope somehwere.

The only time internet latency is apparent is sometimes on the US West Coast as some of the US internet back-bone isn't great, but for everything else 'ping' times of 100-150 work just fine for me.

But here's the thing, a ping of 10-40 will work even better for you.

Just because you have learnt to accept poor connections does not mean the rest of us have also lowered our standards to your level.

    +1

Anything above 100ms is unacceptable in this day and age.

Agreed. Some skills never fire or fire inconsistently. My partner is always moaning and groaning that he keeps pressing some ability and nothing happens. Also, weapon swapping is ridiculous, if I do that in a fight it takes ages and while not sure if it works, I tend to press it again only to see a double swap after a while. So fights feel clunky at best.

You are living in UK and having 150 ping with your good ISP. Imagine what I have with my Dubai ISP??? I usually have 120-140 on EU and 300+ ping on US.

You are used to play on high pings, that does not mean that everybody have to get used to play with delay. Generally people like you are playing PvE more. Living in UK and playing on US servers with 150 ping is not smart.

I can accept 120-140, even it is not really nice to stay on competitive level with good players.

From what I can see on Cyrodiil chats and forums, everybody have this lag issue.

The only reason why it is not that critical is that WE ALL LAG. If a person who lives in US will join EU Megaserver, he will have an insane advantage over every single player in EU.

It is not that critical because you cannot feel the difference and you cannot feel how it is to be countered properly by somebody who has no lag.

I'm agree regarding the buffs/debuffs and skill specifications.
It's a must to have a detailed information about my characters and enemies active spells/buff.
About the latency: could be quite useless in PVE, but in PVP it's fundamental! 100ms gap from uor enemy can change the fate of the battle!
Didn't know that EU servers are in US :(

    1. Make sure you have Cabled internet (DSL or Cable) as LTE will add LAG
    2. Make sure you have a wired connection to your Router/Modem as WiFi will add LAG
    3. Make sure you dont use Progs with a high demand of bandwidth alongside TESO as this may add LAG
    4. Make sure the drivers of your PC (GFX, Network, Chipset) are up to date, as old drivers even may add LAG
    5. Try rebooting your Router/Modem/PC every once in a while as this tends to reduce LAG

If all that doesent work, try repairing TESO and or reinstalling Windows (I do that one each 3-4 months)

As it happens, i'm a EU resident and I dont suffer any noticable LAG. Only thing I recognize lags is in full PVP campaigns at PrimeTime =) but those LAGs also apply to US residents.

Good luck with reducing your Lags, folks =)

Thanks for advice, but this has nothing to do with my or other people lag.

    1- DSL Cable
    2- Wired
3- Everything is off, I make sure of this always. (I track this in my firewall)
    4- Up to date
5- I did try this of course, I will go in details.
I did reboot my router, I also did reboot router of my ISP in my building.
6- Sorry to hear that you reinstall windows every 3 month.

I live in the EU, that should be enough for them to move the *** servers. Getting pretty fed up right about now with "we are not sure when" " there is no set date" "insert random vague excuse here"

  • emailgosurwb17_ESO
It is sad that there is no fixed date on Server migration to Europe from TESO :(
