What keeps you playing?

The majority of threads on this forum are negative, but something keeps us playing. What features of ESO keep you logging in?

For me the following come to mind, not all inclusive and not necessarily in this order:

  • Friends
  • Housing
  • Exploring all the zones
  • Seeing my characters become stronger and able to solo content they couldn't before
  • Endeavors
  • Trading
  • Events

The varied activities. Endeavors, dailies, crafting, housing, achievement hunting, questing. If I did PvP, there would be even more. I also belong to a great guild that hosts lots of activities.

At this point, basically my guild, and the fact that I run our vet trial group, and our group has been making progress on some of our trial goals, and so I want to be there to enjoy the success with my gaming friends.

Outside of that, that's about all I got left at the moment. I have 0 interest in overland content, I haven't even played through the Blackwood story or even gotten a companion. I do try to mix it up and get involved in more zone dailies like dragons, harrowstorms, world bosses, PVP for a bit of a shake up, but that usually fizzles out too. I do like motif hunting, as fashion is my personal endgame, but that in and of itself isn't enough to keep me coming in.

Diablo 2 Resurrected just released and has taken my current gaming attention. That, alongside NBA2K22 which also just recently released, have both been making my ESO time much smaller and smaller.

Roleplaying with friends. Don't do the other stuff as much as I've used to due to burnout. I still like to indulge in some PvP from time to time though.

Right now, just the event dailies. Overall though, the general focus of the game on dailies for just about everything is what I dislike about the game.

Recently I had been doing BGs to add variety and keep interest in the game, but they changed that up and I stopped playing them. Completing the current event dailies is the only time I'm spending in ESO as I have another option for a change of pace (and there is no feeling of I must log in to complete something with that game).

After the events wrap up this year (might as well get the house), not sure what else will keep me going with ESO versus other games.

    Choice

I love how I can just do so many things, at any time. I can:
    • farm
    • do some PvP
    • solo dungeons
    • do some housing
    • start a mudball fight!
    • sell/buy items on Traders
    • have a mad time with friends
    • group with friends or pugs and do things
    • learn a new build and improve myself with that class
    • help people in zone chat with world boss kills or anything else they want
    • just sit and watch the hustle-bustle of players in different cities or the sunrise/sunset in different zones/houses

I just really love this game and I've been here since the start
    I'm just a man

There are posts which are critical and then those who responded in disagreement. Seems to be part of the function of a discussion forum. Reddit is the one with more positivity (eg scenery appreciation shots) but since this is the official forums, it’s only natural that people would come here for grievances, possibly hoping for a response from ZOS.

This one enjoys playing from purely PVE perspective. But the main alt has literally done everything and when Starfield comes out next year, this one will spend much less time with ESO.

    Pretty much nothing :)

    Im really not into PvE.

PvP is getting less and less fun with every single update.

And nearly all of my friends have already quit the game :/

I really dont know how ZOS is able to continuously make the game worse in regards to gameplay and performance.

    1. I've played only this game for 4 years. Not going to stop now.
    2. PvP. I only wish they would improve performance in this aspect, as it is what has caused hundreds of high mmr bg players and cyrodiil junkies to quit. It also needs to be fixed or more players will leave for New World. A huge chunk of my 500 player bg guild have already left for it.
    2. I love the elder scrolls IP.
    3. Massive amount of well written single player and group quest/dungeon content.
    4. Colossal, beautiful world to explore.
    5. No required subscription.

What features of ESO keep you logging in?

In no particular order.... new Zone content, events, leveling alts (skills/achievements/etc), daily reward #21, becoming better at the game, collection of certain styles and motifs (when the grind is reasonable and in-game)...

It's still elder scrolls, even with how bad the questing became for the most part. I still have interest in vet pve and would have one in pvp if it will work one day. Some people are still not left so have a company to do some more challenging group stuff.

But if I had better pc honestly I'd just move new world, it's amazing as an mmo. Eso seems better as non daily activity, just close new dlc and go into something more entertaining before new dlc drop.

What's keeping me here? Half the game itself with all it´s beauty, the other half the addiction to Elder Scrolls that has been unbroken for 15 years. And also the constant curiosity - what's next?

I am a fan on the Elder Scrolls world. When playing skyrim I always wanted to see what was behind the mountains, with ESO I can do that and more. Loving that we can explore all of Tamriel one day....and beyond. (coughs -Akavir- coughs-)

I live in a small town where everything is closed by 7:00pm. If I wanted to go to a bar I would need to drive seventy miles. Don't watch a lot of tv and our governor has decided I can't play online poker for real money. This is still the best game going so here I am.

Actually I really like the game so would play quite a bit anyway. I go through cycles in what I do in game. Right now I have been going to Cyrodiil but I am about over that because of how a certain set is behaving. I still have some things to kill for my trophy hunter achievements so might go to that next. Got caught up on surveys, treasure maps and antiquities before the jump to PvP so good for a couple of months there except for antiquities I guess. Now I have to keep an eye on those.

The one and only thing: the lore. Not only just books, stories and dialogues - but also all visual and sound things. Pets, costumes, landscapes, songs, environment sounds and so on...

Above that? Nothing. I hate combat mechanics, grind and farm. I don't need online friends. I don't seek achievements.
