What keeps you playing?

I step away from time to time, but ESO is my main game I always come back to. I spend more time in ESO than any other game, and have played it since beta on PC. I moved to PS4 when it was available. Some of the reasons are:

    1) Can be a different experience every day
    2) New content added every 3 months to keep it fresh
    3) Endless choices of character builds, and can change them up anytime you want

The main reason that keeps me coming back is there is so much to do. I solo PvE a lot (including soloing some 4-man dungeons), but sometimes I do events with my guild and friends. I like that on some days I'm stressed from work and just want to explore and play casually with no specific goal, while other times I get on to play harder content such as vet dungeons. Even though I don't normally PvP in other games, I do go into Cyrodiil from time to time as I can explore there and choose when I want to PvP or PvE (my main is a nightblade so I can avoid groups if I want most of the time). I like that there are so many options that I can choose from each time I'm on, and every time it can be different experience.

Note: I have a character of each class, but my main at the moment is a nightblade, and my builds are typically hybrid of my own design (I like creating new builds), and I don't play meta builds.

    Something to do until TES6.

    Big oof

Wouldn’t surprise me if they are developing another game for this reason of not expecting it to last beyond ES6.

    All the pretties!
Being able to create a character with skills I like, armor I like and not having to worry about failing constantly in a solo mode.

Been playing since 2015 and the game constantly captures my interest with its worldbuilding, questing and lore. I love the Elder Scrolls universe and this game is the only way we can get to experience many regions of Tamriel so far. Despite not being the biggest fan of the 'year of x' system, I still look forward to every new update (perhaps not that much for the Dungeon DLCs releases I guess).

In terms of lore, ESO is also the boldest TES installment we've had in the last fifteen years or so. Despite their more uh..tame approach in Greymoor and Blackwood (thus far) when it comes to plot, I think there's a lot of thought and love put in the lore and worldbuilding created for each update. Lore fans who dismiss the lore ESO has added to the franchise are so misguided.

I never got bored with the storylines, even after going through them with multiple characters. The constant updates keep the game fresh for me. I think I'd be playing less if the Chapters/DLCs would be released more rarely/once every two years.

Boredom.. ha ha. Ahh, but seriously. Despite all the damn nerfing, I just enjoy the characters. I just enjoy frolicking around with each and everyone of my characters. Particularly during an events, I like to take each and every characters to do the quests for the daily tickets. About it.. Can't really stand PvP, trials, arenas or dungeons; just messing around and frolicking around Greater Tamriel with each and everyone of my beautiful toons soloing the likes of world bosses, dragons and harrowstorms (trying, at least. ha ha.)

The fact that I've paid for this and haven't cleared all the available content. Also the sound of gold from unloading whole inventory of stolen stuff to the fence.

The Elder Scrolls lore and ingame mythology.
Gameplay itself has kicked me out and excluded me from the game though.

I'll be honest, I'm one of those who doesn't really play anymore. I think the game has amazing potential, which is why I spend so much time thinking about the game and therefore so much time on these forums. But nothing in the game really feels alive anymore, and I haven't bothered with new content since Summerset.
But to keep things more positive in line with the thread, I'll list some perks:

    - Great world design. The locations feel diverse. There's magic everywhere but it all feels grounded and realistic. The props, characters, equipment, etc. all mesh well together. You can really get lost in just walking around sometimes.
    - Lots of activities. While I think pretty much every one of them could be integrated and/or executed better, the sheer number of things to do is hard to dismiss. Stories, dungeons, large and small-scale PvP, housing, crafting and gathering, world events, trading. . . Whatever your mood is, there's something that suits it.
    - Theorycrafting, theoretically. Between the classes, skill lines, sets, traits, and enchantments, there's so many facets of your character that can be tweaked. I just wish they mattered more.

Nothing currently, haven't played ps4 in 3 months, PC in 2 months. Just kinda sitting back observing. Might give new world a shot if ESO falls short. So far I do like some of the proposed changes, but only time will tell.
    PvP needs more love.

    Not much at the moment.
I have a very casual style of gameplay as all my organized content has stopped over the past two years.

    - Crafting writs on one character
    - Maybe a random vet dungeon or a raid now and then (Pug mode)
    - Roleplay with some remaining friends

    That's about it.

(My only active guilds at this point is my trading hub and the roleplay guild)

After a long day at work, I just want to rest my brain and relax. In game there is no [snip] or drama that RL is plagued with. Tamriel is a place I can let off some steam and kill something, without the cops getting involved.

For me, we are heading into the most interesting time of the year for ESO. Witches Festival + DLC + New Life Festival leaves little time for real life. I need to clone myself.

It is the graphics and the armor and weapon design. Also the world is big enough to provide a satisfying exploration experience.

I do not like thr anime style with oversized weapons and bikini armors. ESO is currently the only game which offers a quite realistic look.

But the latest story and quest design are lacking.

I hang around because to me it's fascinating to see folks who are complaining about how bad a game is and how it's getting worse for a half decade or more.

    Seriously...

I have more friends in this MMO than any other MMO I play and I like the updates so why not...

Imagination. :) ESO is my first permanent MMORPG and probably the last. I know there are some decent games already exist and coming right at the moment, but if, for example, the game will just end for some reason, I'll go deeper in my irl pleasures.

We grow with our favourite games/books and when we become adults and it is already time to move forward, we try to extend those feelings. However, everything must come to end someday :/

That's not how I feel at all. I'm nearly 74, I've been playing RPGs since I was not quite 30, and I'll quit playing RPGs when I die, not before.

It's fun and it's one of the few game I can play whatever my mood is. I think once I get all my alts leveled up to max horse rank, I might play a little less. I have some goals I want in the game and it's a good casual experience.

My wife and I both play ESO, and for the most part we enjoy it. So we group and do quests/delves/dungeons together, craft furnishings for each other, earn seals of endeavor together.
