Certain yearly events, sometimes new chapters, housing, and just wandering around doing random quests, gathering, crafting, and occasionally I get fired up about normal dailies. For awhile, anyway. I take a lot of breaks so it's nice not to be forced into a linear progression and have to "catch up" with things I may not care about, in order to access the things I actually want to do. I can jump right in.

Truth be told - less and less things.

The lore and the world are number one. ZOS keeps trampling those but they also have made some very beautiful additions to the world, so it's a mixed bag, but still mostly positive.

My friends, but due to a recent incident, that due to its nature we are not allowed to discuss on the forums (link to the forum post on the topic), one of my closest friends won't be playing anymore as they have yet to receive an apology over this incident.

Massive amounts of copium that still make me hopeful that PvP could return to a hint of its former glory.

Illusions about Microsoft making this game better, like they have done with Minecraft. But considering Minecraft now works through Microsoft accounts, my guess is somewhere down the line Bethesda accounts will be turned into Microsoft accounts as well. Not a fan of that either.

So yeah, pretty much only the lore. Oh and the "fear of missing out" of course.
Balance at the detriment of enjoyment and identity is a joke, performance even more so, and I get that it's not easy being a developer and that they can't magically fix every problem there is at the same time, but some decisions about monetization are simply indefensible to me.
I've tried being an optimist. I have since become an ESO doomer. I am waiting for either the turning point or its inevitable demise, whenever that ends up being.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

Exploring, adventuring, so many repeatable activities that I can pick and choose only those I really enjoy. CP1765 solo PvE here and it never gets old. That ESO is multiplayer is a drawback that I live with in relative peace; the game is quite solo friendly. And, for the first time in Elder Scrolls history, staves are good weapons. Lol. The real draw for me though is the sheer mass and scale which dwarfs Oblivion and Skyrim combined.

I honestly think ESO is the best Elder Scrolls game. There are many reasons why I think that, the main reason being that it's the most successful one at creating a virtual world you can live in day after day. There is so much to do, and I haven't done it all yet despite playing the game on a daily basis for just over 4 years now. As long as there are still things for me to do that I haven't done yet, and things to keep doing that I enjoy, I'll continue to play the game.

Because I 100%-ed Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim and trying to also do so in Daggerfall. But I swear if I have to become overpowered and purchase 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 septims worth of goods from the crown store I'll be so angry.

Guild mainly, I stopped any end-game content, play with fun build only and have join a total casual guild, have ot of fun with them and I organize time to time dlc HM coaching to teach to those who want to learn those content w/o pressure.

I love the game but not as I was used too, way to much bug and server issue.

Perhaps ESO is the last hope of MMORPG.
Certainly I am dissatisfied with ESO.
But I believe ZoS will improve ESO.
    That's why I play ESO.

-Planned raids with friends, that is allways enjoyable.
-Trying crazy build ideas that almost never works, then adjust it till it works
-Taking the time to do the whole story with full dialog on my main character when new DLC are released

Its nice to revisit old zones with new characters to experience the zone once more with quests. Vanilla game and DLC's

    1. Having a world all of my own to escape to and de-stress in.
    2. When tired after work having something familiar and relaxing to wind down with that isn't too taxing and just feels relaxing so I can come back to normal (that is my crafting writs).
    3. All the beautiful world to travel, look at the scenery, explore and meet interesting characters and books and stories and music.
    4. Awesome gameplay when I feel like getting into it and want more challenge - it's always available.
    5. Housing and being able to have fun planning homes and saving for furnishings and creating new spaces.
    6. Other aspects of the game where if I got bored or wanted to or wanted a change I could find things to do like pvp etc.
    7. Awesome community.
    8. The lore is fantastic and all the connection to the original Elder Scrolls games.
    9. Fun with fashion, pets and mounts.
    10. Great events.

I joined ESO recently only (some months). As honestly said in a few other threads already, there are many things I dislike in this game, preventing that it could be my main game.
However, ESO is - for me - perfect as a "side" game (aside of my main), in which I chill around, doing only what I like to do and leaving without any second thought as soon as something upsets me.

It's really a discovery for me to play a game this way: no objectives, no obligations, not caring about achievements and taking out of the content only what's fun to me. It's incredibly comfortable and gives me a sensation of freedom I fully enjoy.

I find ESO really ideal for that type of use and at the top of it, although this lazy way to play, I get fairly enough the surprise of achievements getting completed! B)

Edited for an add => Main things I like:
    - Stealing
    - Housing
    - Scrying/Excavating
Those are 3 activities I don't know from other games and like very much.

Love the TES universe and its lore, and this is the only new Elder Scrolls content we're getting for the time being. Still find the game enjoyable for the most part, even though I do have my complaints.

A simple answer, because I have fun.

Like everyone else I can take a little ESO break on occasion, for a few weeks or a few months. But I always come back because ESO is awesome.

    Great question OP

I've been playing since pre launch and I love ESO but over the years I have had slumps and periods of burnout. Now to answer your question ...

What keeps me playing is the variety eso offers and now with the many events I get something different to focus on [/b.
I enjoy my companions, mainly Bastion, i made him tanky.

I love collecting mounts that i work for like the events ones and pets too
My end game is collecting stuff cos i dont do vet content. I also enjoy new expansions afcourse.

    Pretty much nothing :)

    Im really not into PvE.

PvP is getting less and less fun with every single update.

And nearly all of my friends have already quit the game :/

I really dont know how ZOS is able to continuously make the game worse in regards to gameplay and performance.

    Pretty much this.
I only jump in to do my daily writs, endeaovers, surveys and am out.

For me it's social interaction, mostly cooperation in PvE. In mmos i met some good friends, with whom i keep in contact even though we no longer play any games together.
Also i like collecting and developing, ESO has major updates 2 times per year that keep me busy.

Endlessness... I love things that never end!!

Which is why the 3600 CP limit kinda bugs me out, even if I am nowhere near it. Everything else in-game is endless, or so far out of my reach that it may as well be endless. Gathering supplies/motifs/outfits, housing, events, gaining skillpoints, completing zones, completing DLC's, crafting, dungeons, outfitting, characterbuilding, etc. All endless!

In the past I have always played games and done things that were endless. The only things that got me to stop doing them, is when they became something unrecognizable, or start pissing me off. Due to those things being endless, there is also always the option to return to where I was.

As a true TES fan exploring the world is number one for me. Questing is second. I love the questing in this game. I take my time and read all the text trees and voiceovers are so good. I always try to get zone completion. Probably why I solo the game mostly.
