    Maybe...only for my Main.
Depends on what the passive is.

Also depends on what there skills are like and what the character looks like if I will be bothered to level them up let alone bother with rapport or not.

    No...don't care for companions.
I always travel with Bastian - unlocked him on the first day he was available. He's lvl 12 - it seems I will never get hom to 20. As for rapport, it looks as it is not moving at all. So I just gave up. Way to hard for me to level a useless talking pet, let him just be a cosmetic companion. Same will be for the any new companions - I will use them as cosmetic pets.

    Companion rapport: Time-gated grind, 250 rapport/day via dailies - max 5500 (3 week grind) Bastian's is worse.
Companion XP: 532550xp to Level 20, only gains XP from kills (ie. no quests) Only receives 15% of combat xp received by player (boostable)
Companion gear: 9 traits, 3 weights, 3 qualities. Can be traded but cannot be upgraded. Low drop-chance from bosses
Companion skills: Armor, weapon, guild skills. All need to be leveled individually similar to player progression.

    Maybe...only for my Main.
Well, i could but only if they would offer slightly more advanced system of grind.

Sure, things like Antiquities, Chests or everyday stuff are great for naturally increasing rapport BUT I cannot imagine going through Fighters or Mages Guilds quest for 30 days once again.

Maybe just stick to dailies. Ashlanders quests were nice touch for Mirri, it felt quite climactic. And i was able to fill my collections of motifs & get achievement.

So add something similar for the new companion, that would suit their background and we will be fine ;)

If they was worth using than just cosmetics or rp purposes which rapport doesn't need than I'll do it for my main. Otherwise, I'll just wait til the next year whenever it maxes out.

It depends on their rapport perk reward... if it was something super awesome, then maybe, but if it's something similar to Bastian and Miri's then no'. Especially since grinding involves the FG dailies, which take ages. I really didn't enjoy doing that for the current companions, not to mention I still have the levelling to do, so doing that for a new set of companions would be overkill. I'll most likely let rapport level on its own, over time, rather than grind it.

I didn't see an option for this but I will grind to max rapport on my main only, especially if there is an achievement associated with it. I don't currently see the point of grinding max rapport on alts. The account wide unlocks seem to be put in place so that you can get an account wide reward for maxing it on just one character.

Wait... why did you write "only for my Main" on one of the options?

Do people seriously grind out rapport on multiple characters? Why? There's no point to it. All rapport rewards are account-wide.

Other than for roleplaying reasons or wanting to do the quests again, there is no reason to level up rapport on multiple characters.

True that. But that was my mistake at first, maxed out rapport and xp for both on my Main..got the unlocks and such. At first I thought once the companions were maxed out both xp and rapport that it was account wide but when I checked my alt it wasn't maxed out on rapport but maxed in XP...so I continued to do it since I was pretty close in achieving the 5500 rapport goal. Then looked at the other alts and said screw this because it was going to be a chore to do them all (7 other alts). If I was a completionist I would do it..but I'm not.

So yes, I agree it doesn't pay to do alts once they have been completed on the main toon. Took me the hard way to figure that out...lol

I've already stopped worrying about max rapport for companions. One I completed their quests I stopped. Now they can tag along for whatever overland stuff I do and whatever xp they get from that is what they get.

Looking at the poll...it really doesn't make sense to do Companion rapport maxing for the alts.

Now if they could only add the ability to slap the companions when they become annoying ...lol

    No...don't care for companions.
That's a big probably not from me.

My Mirri is level 20 and has fancy gear. Rapport seems to be severely grindy, and I don't do mage/fighters guild dailies religiously anymore. Haven't for a very long time. Not gonna start again.

Rapport needs to either be severely tamed up in the boring grind department or I'll just ignore it and never miss what I didn't ask for in the first place.

I like companions. I like having them. I'm not even remotely interested in grinding for the sake of accessing tiny little bits of companion lore.

Other … my characters all run a companion, but rapport will just happen. No deliberate action is taken to increase it.

I did get both as houseguests, by doing some extra dailies on one character, but that was where it stopped. Max level and rapport are still to come, and I do not see any reason to rush them.

Well, there are 15 different Warrior/Mage Guilde-Quests you can do each day in theory. So it's 2.5 days to max rapport for both, considering their personal quests as well. A mate has them all ready to share on a 2nd account, but i just did it on my main, cause there is simply no advantage at all to do it on multiple chars.

I think they're talking about max level (20), which is a pretty brutal grind. Not max rapport, which is also a grind but no where near as bad.

I currently have Mirri at 9 1/2 and Bastion at.... a lot less then that. I'm CP1700 but I just don't earn much XP through kills at this point.

If they added a companion I really liked i may be prepared to grind xp through kills to max them but I've just about given up on getting there with the two current companions.

Nope! Max level is accountwide. Rapport is per character. The two things are not the same and they didn't say level in the OP.

I just get rapport as I play. I don't grab torchbug/butterfies and routinely open a bookshelf, sometime do the relevant dailies (which I enjoy) and it happens. As pointed out, no performance gain from rapport and it happens over time just fine with minimal attention.

What drives choice of companion for me is personality and Mirri clicks whereas Bastion does not. I currently have Mirri set up as ranged dps for the variants of my character who want that and Bastion set up as a tank for the variants of my character who want that. What I would much prefer to do it have a QoL friendly way of quickly changing Mirri from dps gear to tank gear and simply change her on the go. Changing her skills is easy but the logistics of changing her gear is a headache.

... I just would like her not to do backwards rolls half way across the zone every time we get in a battle.
Mirri will do this irritating habit with any ranged weapon except one. If you give her an ice staff, she will hold her ground, favoring blocking/interrupting. Made all the difference on my Mirri; just be careful you don't slot the destruction staff ability that includes a taunt if using an ice staff.

I find that for the moment I don't dislike them as much as I thought I would... they serve as a kind of pet or tool at times when I'm soloing or duoing. So I wouldn't probably mind a few more companions so I can have one as each role (tank/heal/dps) without swapping anything except the companion and having some eviler ones would be nice.

But I never did a grind for reputation. Mine aren't maxed out. Don't really care about the quests and am actively hoping the romance stuff never makes it in the game as I am NOT a fan of that. I have no idea why one would grind for reputation but if it's your thing, I'm not judging of course.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

Maybe get someone at ESOUI to write a gear changing addon for companions where you can save gear sets like Gear Manager for players does?

The rapport system needs to be re-worked. it doesn't move quick enough and to many things on the core game play lower it. Both the current ones you lose rapport for using blade of woe. One should and one shouldn't. Just playing the game and having them out they should slowly gain rapport as well

They lose it over the stupid stuff to. random walking aninmals get caught in a AoE and oops there goes Bastians rapport...I'm not going to survey the entire area before I engage a mob I need to kill to make there is a chicken or something walking around. It's really stupid.

Some of the things you can lose rapport for might be a bit much, but it makes sense that you would always lose rapport for blade of woe since that can only be used on civilians, right? I think only a dremora or other being without empathy wouldn’t disapprove and strongly. Of course they could have such a companion… I think one would have to watch their back then…

Same. I don't grind -- for anything really. If I know I'll be doing something one of them likes, I'll summon him or her. I did the guild dailies for a few days and moved on. I don't have them at max yet, but I recently completed all their personal quests.

    None of the options.

I don't grind the rapport. It'll be maxed out when it'll max out. I see no benefit of rushing it or forcing it. So yeah, I'd like a new companion, since this is a non-issue for me.

I'm more worried about grinding skill lines than rapport. What I've maxed is mainly:
    • One companion (Mirri).
    • One weapon for her (resto).
    • One armor line for her (heavy).
    • All the guild lines for her.

That leaves a lot more to go.

One thing that does NOT help -- the tediousness of changing companion builds. If you want their best build for some content, but to grind another build when you're doing easy stuff, that's a nuisance even if you only play one character, and a much bigger nuisance across alts.

And by the way -- grinding Mirri on one character to a high level of rapport was fun; she sounds at least half in love with him now.

Grinding her to absolute max rapport added nothing.

Mirri is close to reaching level 20, but why is it that when she is summoned, she would appear in underwear before the costume shows up and covers her?! This one is married and can’t look at semi naked Dunmer ladies!
