Is there an addon so you know what you know?

When I'm trying to decide to deconstruct something, I'd like to know if I already know if it is my collections. It seems like if I just sell it, I don't get it listed in my sets. Is there something that can tell me whether or not I already know it?

That's already part of the game.

I forget exactly where its at however you can select any zone and get a matrix in real time of every piece of every set that you know for that zone.

No mod required. I believe its in the same area as collections just a different icon over on the right I want to say.

The item itself tells you if it is "collected" or "not collected". Should be right next to the bound status where it says "bound", "bind on pickup" or "bind on equip". Selling to NPCs I think does add it to your collection, same as deconstructing, but selling to another player obviously doesn't add it to your collection as the item needs to become bound for that to happen.

What I have been told is that selling an uncollected item to an NPC will add it to collections, but only once it's been pushed off of the list of items that you can buy back from the NPC - not immediately. If an item is uncollected I usually will either decon or right click and hit bind on the item directly in order to add it to the set collection.

That is true, but not what I want. I'd like to know when I look at the item if I've already collected it, not to memorize all items I have and look them up in a separate list.

Ah, I think you're right. I don't think I've paid attention to that before. Thanks

I don't think anyone said anything about expecting you or anyone else to memorize whether you have it or not. I certainly did not say that when trying to help you out so I'm not sure what that even means.

Furthermore, on my game I don't have anything (that I've noticed) that tells me the info you're looking for.

I certainly don't have time to inspect everything, I keep things as simple as possible and let the game do that for me. Then I view the report later on. Like I would think if you're trying to make sure you have a complete set or see what pieces you're missing from a set, wouldn't it make more sense to look at what you have already?

It just sounds like you're going about this the hard way, which ZOS already added something to use for this purpose anyways. I just don't see the need for an extra mod when the thing you need is already in the game. Just something else to troubleshoot especially with other issues the game has sometimes.

Thanks, I think I got the answer I need. I think you just said the answer to my question is something you don't know. The answers above may help if you want this information. Thank you for helping though.

I recommend Loot Log instead of Set Collection Marker.
    https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1455.html

It does everything that Set Collection Marker does with marking uncollected items in inventory, chat, etc., but with three additional features: First, a "/linktrade" chat command to link everything you don't need in chat, so it's easier to offer to other players the stuff that you don't need. Second, if someone else offers gear by linking stuff into chat, you can request those anything you're missing from those offered items more easily with the click of a button. And finally, a "/binduncollected" chat command to bind everything that you don't know.

In addition to set items, it also handles runeboxes and style pages (and if you have the Character Knowledge addon installed, it will also handle recipes and motifs).

Also, you might consider getting Item Set Browser, which offers an easier-to-navigate way of looking at your item set collections. The biggest QoL feature is that it shows an overview of your collection on the tooltips of set items.

Deconstructing an item will add it to your collection automatically.

Recently I went thru my inventory and noticed I was missing a ton of things that I should have had a long time ago. Guess I thought you were doing something similar. With that said, I can't believe the prices on some of these old sets. Judging by what I had to pay to replace things, this is with discounts, I'm not sure if I shouldn't just get loot boxes for what I need next time as opposed to paying a fortune for it from a vendor.

Craft store Blackwood is what I use to track what I do and do not know.

    From the description page:

Tracks known traits, styles, recipes and blueprints
Custom enchanting and provisioning station UI
Craft set, style, rune & glyph, recipe and blueprint lists
    View items across characters
    Overview of all character stats
    Research and mount training reminders
