Does Zenimax listen to the community?

what a crap poll.....they just added two wayshrines in Western Skyrim because they listened to the community, look at all the nerfs sets get because of players asking for them

Another point that proves my comment true, that Zos does in fact listen to the community. The results of the poll are not relevant as there is proof Zos listens and they even implement good suggestions that are workable.

Two years plus of performance issues is proof they DON'T listen.

Not at all. The fact they had a performance improvement plan pretty much shows they did listen. The fact it failed shows they either significantly underestimated what needed to be done or that they are fairly inept.

If a person or a companies words do not match their actions over a significant period of time a reasonable person stops believing the words coming from that person or business.

Actually, I am fairly convinced that the issue is not that ZOS is not improving performance, but that some people simply don't care about those performance improvements. To them, not important.

I'm having difficulty understanding your comment. Are you saying players don't care about performance improvements that ZOS have achieved, or that people at ZOS don't take performance improvement seriously? Because the first case is mind-boggling considering the issues the game experienced today and yesterday, and the second ends up being about ZOS not improving performance anyway (whether it's because they can't or they won't is irrelevant).

Never. Whenever I see this "game", my eyes sink into their sockets and I ironically find myself relating to the soulless husk of my character. Zenimax is dead inside and so is my hope for this game.
if they listened, than PVP would be playable by now

in general, I am somewhere in the middle between "yes" and "no", but it upsets me more that Zenimax do not reckon with old players, but they are ready give everything for beginners and not thinking about us.

Oh, I felt that way about Destiny 2. New players got the game free and some bonuses too that players that paid full price never got.

I’m sure they listen to some things, here and there, when it fits them. But normally not one bit. But it’s not the developer’s fault. It’s not the community manager’s fault. It’s not the coders, or the programmers fault. As long as companies continue to hire sales execs, whose sole purpose in life is to see sales numbers and course the ground the future of the game will walk according to that, they will never listen to anything. Marketing and sales is of utmost importance. Performance? Balancing? QOL? They’ll work on that IF, AND ONLY IF, it matches sales projections and quarter profit goals, not before. If ever.

Makes me feel bad for the people having to try working on making this game great but being pigeonholed into strapping some whatever skin on some whatever mount as quickly as possible so that marketing can write some “awesome” blurb as to why you absolutely need to spend $50 on crowns to get it.

Yes, I'm really spiritually and emotionally satisfied by the amount of developer interaction and resultant change we've seen. My parents aren't even divorcing anymore!
As said by others before, the sarcasm is biasing the poll.

Personally, I'm sure they listen to the feedback seriously. I must say that I admire them because some of those writing in this forum are quite unpolite and somewhat aggressive in their way to address their feedback. Not very nice.

I believe that many who complain are out of reality about what it means to work in a company. Very simplified, there are 3 main "parties":
    - The whishes (all the good ideas for improvement and development).
    - The mandatory technical support (to keep the product working).
    - The economical limits, as in the available budget.

The key point is that the available budget is never - ever - covering for all a company want to do. It needs to prioritize and that's what is fixing the limits to what can be done.
For each action ZOS would like to take, the question is: is this a business case (what also takes into account some aspects like customer satisfaction)? If there is no positive balance as an answer to that question, even if they want to do it, they can't and it will not be done.

Soooo... A bit more understanding toward ZOS would not hurt here. Don't underestimate that for each "peanuts" change, there is a work to be done mobilizing more than just one worker. In fact, there are no "peanuts" change. Each action will cost the time and effort of one or more workers, and that's money. I can imagine that all the time, they have to make decision about what to do when. And when something will not be done, they will hear complains from customer side and have to cope with...

Don't misunderstand me: that's how it is everywhere. It's not specific to ESO or even to game industry. It's industry life generally. Just this poll is maybe an occasion to raise a bit awareness and understanding?
I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message... PC/NA

Listening and granting wishes are two different things. It's obvious they do listen. Look at the inner beast changes for example. We wanted them to make it pve only, and they did.

You are confusing listening with giving us the answers we want. If they were not listening they would never have tried to fix PvP. They might not have given us battlegrounds either. Players asked for battlegrounds and we got it. Maybe they were already on the way... who knows.

They listen they don't always respond how we would like.

Yes, as a whole, they listen to the community and feedback.

    However, that doesn't mean :
    1. That they can answer or work with extremely generic feedback. (Saying "make the game better" or "increase performance" is wholly unhelpfull, and yes, those statements are going - with reason - to be discarded. Because, yes, if they could do so easily, they would)
    2. That they have to answer or implement all the dumb ideas/request of change that sprout on the forums. ("I want fart magic" - not gonna happen. "That skill tht kills me should be toned down" - only your opinion, and you are not a master of balance)
    3. That they have to write a rapport of everything they read from the comminity, along with what they keep, what they discard, with an ETA on each future functions/bugfixes. That is NOT the playerbase's business.

No , it's their weakest point as a company in my opinion. You are making a MMO , which is abot being social and you refuse to communicate clearly. We don't have big content creators, I don't remember even seeing a dev interview in the last couple of years. My impression is that this game is 100% in maintenance mode, so I have 0 expectations that they will address any concerns we have.
Just as an example, all the concerns people had about companions turned out to be true. The lag problems in pvp and so on and so on. It's same old , same old with them. People are sick and tired at this point , and vet players are wondering why they even still play. Like the majority of people are literally in auto daylie mode, they log in do their daylies and log out. I personally still have a decent amount of content left to do like some stories and such, but I honestly can't imagine what people are looking forward to if they have done everything lol. Even for me the game feels very stale and hard to get into. For the past couple of years , it has been nothing but lazy expansions the follow a formula. For example do you know what the only difference will be in the expanions for next year. Nothing but new companions, that's what.

It CAN’T - the ENGINE can’t DO what is promised in the most complex and beautiful combat system ever created - but they keep dumbing it down instead of taking it UP!

Why AREN’T all of the complex procs possible on live? Why DO they consistently keep implementing mini-game BS mechanics?

‘Cause that is all that is possible within the existing ailing engine.

WHY isn’t this this beautiful infrastructure taken to the next level?

    Why?

    Why?

    Why?

I am glad they don't listen to every whim and whine we have in the forums. [snip] ESO is as good as it gets in the mmo genre and it has its unique likeable aspects and while its performance issues leave much to be desired, Bethesda games have always been horrendous in the performance department and it is clear now that the devs do listen, but there isn't a quick practical way to fix performance without a massive change in how the game works, it seems.
